Cgi and technobabble to cover a terrible story. The worst episode in years.

I thought it was alright. Perfectly serviceable low-grade entertainment. Not a patch on Who's highlights, but it was okay. Maybe my expectations are low.
The scenes between the Doctor and Yaz were very good, even if it played out more or less exactly as I imagined.

I didn't even know there was a new one. I still haven't even watched the New Year's Day episode.
I genuinely think his Flux shite has killed Doctor Who completely for me. I'm out.

Had no idea there was a new episode. Only just got around to catching up on the recent episodes after stopping mid-second Whitaker season and still have the New Year one to watch.
Was pleasantly surprised by the back half of that second season. It wasn't great, but found the episodes enjoyable. Flux was mostly shit though and was really all over the place. Didn't mind the angel episode, but the rest ranged from dull to terrible.
Looking forward to RTD coming back, although part of me thinks that maybe it just needs to come to an end or take a lengthy break.
Any fans of the old ones? I have never really watched any of it besides the Dalek Earth invasion film and was thinking of picking up a Blu-ray or two. Seems they are releasing them in completely random order though. Which would be recommended? Currently released seasons are:
12 19 18 10 23 26 14 8 24 17

I enjoyed Classic Who more than modern Who. Watched the whole run with my son last year (including reconstructions or animations for missing episodes). His favourite Doctor was Hartnell.
As for the Blu Rays, yeah, the ordering is weird, I am guessing to try and mix the doctors somewhat. Also with the black and white era there are still a lot missing and no complete season (with animations to fill in the blanks). If they animate more we might see some complete B&W ones. We used Britbox (and a bit of Vimeo for necessary reconstructions) for our run through as it has all of the complete stories and over half of the animated ones. (Just missing the newer ones so they can sell the DVDs to make back the costs I imagine).
Still need to watch the newest ep from Sunday too...

It's really weird to think that we're not THAT far off New Who drawing level with Classic Who in terms of how long it's been around.
The original run was, what, 26 years? And we've had the new run now for 17.
If RTD wasn't coming back, and the whispers about it being a much bigger production to compete with the sorts of fantasy shows you'd see on Disney or Netflix, I think I'd agree that it was due for a break. I don't want to live in a world where Doctor Who isn't a thing anymore, but if you told me they were parking it for five years or something, I'd be okay with that. As it is, I think what they've got planned for the anniversary and beyond may be just the shot in the arm it needs.

I hadn't really thought about how many years the relaunch has been running for. Longer than I had consciously realsi d deposit knowing it as the 2005 reboot...

I really need to get going on Flux. I only watched the first episode and then got distracted. Just had the bright idea to use a Skip List to introduce the kids to nuWho. Rose, here we come!

I liked Flux. Haven’t seen Seadevils yet but this final Whittaker run has been good for me so far.
My big hope is that RTD’s return will keep up the idea that its the adventure not the Doctor’s introspection that makes the show interesting. We’ve had brooding Doctors for about a decade now, have some fun.

It's funny you say that because for me one of the more irritating things in this era has been the regular cutaways to Whittaker looking miserable as she contemplates being the "Timeless Child" and all that guff, but refusing to mention anything to her friends about it.
I'm not sure whether it's because I just didn't get along with that story arc in the first place, or if the introspection felt a lot more forced (maybe written into the episodes by Chibnall?), but it always stood out for me a lot more than Capaldi being grumpy or Tennant being sad.

I don’t know him but hopefully we won’t have as much racism toward him as Whitaker had sexism from the “fans” for her whole run.
Looking forward to RTD coming back too. Not that I had any issue with Chibnall’s run the way everyone else seemed to around the internet.

They've had four Scottish Doctors but only one from Yorkshire, I think we all know where the real prejudice lies.

I don't think this is a sneak peak at what he'll will be wearing as the Doctor but as RTD is back who knows?! I'm happy with the choice, he's damn good in Sex Education.

Can’t we all just unite behind the fact that it’s not bloody James Corden?

Its one of those appointments that existing fans will be ok with and will piss off absolutely anyone else with an anti "woke" agenda.

People who never watched it in the first place will complain and scream "wokeism" then go back to bashing Prince Harry and Meghan when they get bored.

I'm sure this isn't the last of anniversary return announcements.
The link isn't working at the moment, which seems a little clumsy.

I know we are getting a new Doctor Who, but I do kind of wish David Tennant would come back for a new series. He was so good.
