If we assume that The Master *isn't* a previous string of forgotten regenerations of The Doctor. Saint Christopher's balls! I need to sit down.

Craig Parkinson is one of those actors who looks and sounds like I've seen him in a whole bunch of stuff and then I look at his IMDB page and recognise nothing that's listed.

you haven't seen Misfits? definitely still worth a binge (first couple of seasons anyway). He's in series 2 & 3.

Loved the fact that there was no magic, deus ex machina, solution to the Village of the Angels yesterday. And messing with the end credits is always worth bonus points

I'm a big fan of the new (old) serial format they've gone for. Whittaker's doctor has grown on me too, snapping at everyone like a pissed off lecturer.
It's a shame John Bishop can't act because he's a good bloke. If they'd written Bradley Walsh back in (on his own) I'd be much happier.

That was a decent episode. Enjoyed that a lot. Continues to look fantastic as well.
Although if there's one thing the chibnall era has given us its the best theme and title sequence since new who started. I love it.

The new title sequence doesn't have the tardis in it though... it's just weird lava lamp stuff.

Iām a bit lost on where any of this is heading though. It generally seems like very chaotic storytelling.
āThe Divisionā sounds like UNIT In Space. Iād kind of like for them to just be introduced and have a goal. Thereās those two Skull People who Look Bad, and are probably trying to do something Bad. The Angels are Doing Something and thereās Things Happening.
But if anyone asked me what has happened this season or what any of it is about, I honestly couldnāt explain a single thing. In fairness, Iām suffering a lot of confusion in general lately, but Iāve not found anything else Iāve watched lately hard to follow. Lovecraft Country, Twilight Zone, The Suicide Squad, Eternals and No Time To Die are most recent viewed shows and - though Iād criticise some of it - none of it left me wondering what was happening for even a second.

Pop quiz hot shot: What was the bad guy's plan at the end of No Time to Die? Safinās plan was to use DNA-encoded nanobots to wipe out millions of people, which they never go into any depth on who exactly, maybe all secret agents or aristocracy, but I think they hint it is a massive ethnic cleanse. Itās weak and poorly explained but I was never confused about it, only disappointed at the lack of nuance. He also effectively wanted to make a love slave of the woman heād been obsessed with since she was a little girl, which is still less off-putting than the age difference with Daniel Craig.

Didnāt this start when they replaced Iron Man with the Iron Lady, who decimated industries that led to men feeling worthless?

āYour anger isnāt caused by lying and corrupt Tories but the people we indicate are your enemy, be they the poor, immigrants, women or Jews. Wait, forget that last one, weāre still skipping the Jews Iām being told. This āDoctress Whoā stole your jobs though.ā

The headline idea is clearly dumb, though I do have some sympathy with his saying that people are taking his point out of its wider context. Unfortunately, that's what happens these days, and it can make it difficult to have any deeper discussion when any slight mistake or badly thought out comment will be weaponized against you.
Role models are clearly very important for girls, so I assume they would be for boys too.
But the issue isn't that some of the roles are being changed to girls or people of color. The issue would be if the roles are generally more violent or negative. Kids these days seem to be exposed to a lot more adult shows a lot earlier... though paradoxically, kids content has become much less edgy. There are also just a lot more anti-heroes these days.
Still, I seem to remember that 5/6 of the Avengers are white dudes (though one occasionally goes green), so I'm not sure that boys are that short on role models. And old star wars was Luke+Leia+Han, and new star wars was Rey+Finn+Poe so the balance hasn't changed that much, other than one of the main trio becoming a Teletubby.

His other examples are James Bond (misogynist murderer) and the Ghostbusters (creepy sex-pest work-shy layabout in Venkman's case) so yeah, shining examples for boys to aspire to.

I always aspired to be James Bond.
My kids apparently aspire to be characters out of Squid Game.

I don't think I ever aspired to be like anyone, I certainly can't remember if I ever did.

Well.. I guess I mainly aspired to have an Aston Martin DB5.
My wall had posters of Gandalf, Madonna, Lost Boys and Bananarama... so i'm not sure what that means.
If I was a boy these days, me wall would probably be covered in posters of Black Widow and Wonder Woman because they're badass.

So what did everyone think of the finale?
I'm of two minds. There was a lot I liked in this series as a whole - the best of Chibnall's run I'd say - but the relentless plot-plot-plot of it all, and the endless exposition, began to drag the more it went on. So I dunno, overall it's okay?

It was too much to wrap up so *everything* got short changed. You could have cut out the C, D and E plots and I dont think anyone would have noticed and you would have had much more space for something more satisfying than the geodes just getting vaporised or that poorly explained robot thing just swallowing the cloud.
I dont think anyone would miss grey worm and tamagochi girls wacky adventures if it meant the rest of the storylines could have been resolved with more than a 'time did it' handwave.

I thought it was alright. A bit convoluted and plot heavy for the youngsters (possibly).
I enjoyed the series as a whole and it's a shame they didn't get this stuff locked down earlier as her run as the doctor would have been entirely different from the woke, preachy, box ticking bollocks that we had up to this point.

I thought it was alright. A bit convoluted and plot heavy for the youngsters (possibly, I have no idea about how childrens brains work, the hateful little cunts). I enjoyed the series as a whole and it's a shame they didn't get this stuff locked down earlier as her run as the doctor would have been entirely different from the woke, preachy, box ticking bollocks that we had up to this point. How the fuck is this Doctor "woke"? She sets the Nazis onto the Master by reminding them he's Asian, allows the Trump-esque dude to go free, allows the evil Space-Amazon company to stay in business, and in this very episode not only allows the genocide of the Daleks and the Cybermen but actively tricks the Sontarans into being wiped out as well. Whatever other criticisms can be made of this era of the Doctor, "wokeness" isn't one of them, unless you literally define that by the gender and ethnicity of the main cast, which is just bonkers.
