Even though the progressive message got a bit smug and self satisfied at the end of the episode, I think there might be a sting in the tail that people have missed. With Rose saying ".... I'm more."; I think RTD might be foreshadowing something for the final special. Rose was, afterall making toys in her shed and the Meep mistook them for living, sentient toys.

Oh man, that is going to shaft so many people It's a six of one, half a dozen of the other situation really, as long as writers know going in there's no actual fowl play and it brings them in line with other creatives working on the show. Terry Nation made a fortune off the Daleks, but Ray Cusick just got his wages as a designer for realising them. Will also prevent legacy copyright shenanigans in future too. Like Nation's estate playing hardball over The Dalek rights, or the nonsense with Anthony Coburn's son.

Yep, it’s only the same as what the James Bond producers did in buying up all the Thunderball rights to prevent numerous twistings of the script into unofficial Bond films.
Sony helped them out by buying up all the Bond spinoffs. Hopefully the Disney cash can help in that way by making the Nation clan an offer they can’t refuse.

Finally caught up with Wild Blue Yonder. Wasn’t really expecting a family friendly tea time bodyhorror episode but there was some real nightmare fuel for younger viewers in there.
Got a strong Marvin from the Hitchhikers Guide movie feel from the design of the robot too which was nice.

It went in one huge direction I wasn't expecting and one I can't say I'm unhappy about but I've enjoyed all three of the specials and cannot wait for the Christmas episode, I think Ncuti is going to be great.
It's going to be a little strange to see him on screen without Asa Butterfield being close by, I guess he's too busy buying sausage rolls from Greggs with Robert De Niro at the moment.

There was so much going on in tonight's episode, it was almost two Doctor Whos in one!

I enjoyed it broadly. Toymaker worked well, but his defeat could never live up to the threat they set up. The "Everyone is right." concept is so good though. There are so many people who've been proved objectively wrong, who carry on with "Alternative facts." what I prefer to call the Footballisation of politics.

I enjoyed it but not sure about how it ended. It felt both very Disney and also the most RTD thing ever. Bi-nation indeed. I see the episode is now a footnote on the Stooky Bill Wikipedia page, maybe the Doctor's contribution to discovering mavity should be added to Isaac Newton's page too.

Did UNIT always have the Avengers tower?
I'm not a big fan of the show, got into it when Tennant took over (The Blink ep really got me watching) and got fed up of the show when Peter Capaldi was the dr (he was great, the scripts were bad)
Didn't think the 3 specials were good as some of the past ep, they all the potential to be much better but had RTD's OTT and bit too camp when few minutes it was a bit creepy (for 6.30pm show)

Pretty much my thoughts. Would add that Tennant feels like a "get out of jail card" to boost ratings, was this RTD's way of resetting the show to begin his new reign?

Since the reboot the “present” has always been very inconsistent on its futurist tech. But then they are commandeering alien tech every other week so its bound to payoff eventually.

Was very happy to see Tennant back, but that first episode was weak. Watched both episodes 2 and 3 yesterday and for me they definitely ramped up in quality. Wild Blue Yonder was intriguing with a nice dose of weird creepiness. I didn't expect that salt trick set-up to come off in the next episode (and we can be sure that's not the end of it) but was surprised an apparently massive threat in the Toymaker was wrapped up in one episode.
Was extremely surprised by the bi-generation and seeing them together, thought it was very well handled. Also veryh happy that the 14th doctor gets some R&R with the Noble family, well deserved

So Rose gets a Doctor , Donna gets a Doctor , and Martha gets Micky . Can't help feeling someone drew the short straw.

So there were 3 tennant specials, and now there is the Xmas Special with the new guy?
We just started watching the OG Tennant series with he brats, so I'm wondering if watching the Tennant Specials now is going to confuse the hell out of things.
I heard the second one was scary? Is the 3rd ok?

The beginning of the third episode is suitably creepy. It’ll depend upon your young’uns. But I could see it being a bit too much for under sevens. But it moves at quite a pace, so it is more quick jolts of fear.

Scare the crap out of ‘em while they’re young. Then they’ll turn into the normal sane members of Fontgeek of the future

My oldest likes Doctor Who, but it's hard to watch it when the youngest (9) is around. He likes it sometimes, but every 3rd episode is too scary from him and he then refuses to watch it for a few weeks.

Really looking forward to the special, partly because new Doctor but mainly because watching Dr Who on Christmas Day became something of a tradition at Hermit Towers. I say watching on Christmas Day, inevitably I eat and drink far too much and sink into a food coma, annoy everyone by snorin all the way through it and then make everyone watch it again on Boxing Day when I've sobered up.
