One thing they could have worked on was the whole time line thing. I was pretty confused at points as to what was going on. Just a "10 years earlier" would have helped a lot. I thought that was entirely the point? Was it unintentional? I dunno if it was intentional but it was definitely annoying and made the show less fun to watch. Part of why it picked up towards the end was because you were no longer going "HUH?!" as much.

How is it underrated when it’s the most widely watched show on Netflix in the entire world? No one I know has watched it or is talking about it. Look how popular squid game is, and that's not as good. My experience has been different, seems to be really well known and popular. /Shrugs

I was glad that a mate who watched it before me, gave me a tip that there are different points in time shown in parallel. I'm rewatching it before S2, love it.

Fully caught up on Curb for now. It's been a pretty solid season throughout. I especially enjoyed Larry's romance this season for those extra helpings of cringe worthy moments... Just wish I'd started watching it a couple of weeks later so I didn't have to wait for any episodes. Very much in the mood to just binge the last two now but I can't...
Gomorrah S5 - only two episodes in but so far so good. Genny talking in English will never not be weird. He seems to have had a few lessons this time around at least compared to that London based episode last season.

Tracy Ullman has been the highlight this season without a doubt.

Part of why it picked up towards the end was because you were no longer going "HUH?!" as much. The main problem for me was that the characters (even the non-magical ones) didn't noticeably age. So you had scenes that were 20 years apart, but aside from some offhand comments it was harder to tell. Or at least harder than it needed to be. It just felt unnecessary. Were they going for some Westworld-style twist, where you don't realise that things aren't happening at the same time? Because otherwise there was no reason to obfuscate it; just have little date markers pop up in the corner of the screen. Done.

I thought there *were* going for some kind of [redacted for spoilers] style twist, but maybe that was just me being dumb.

But I think the problem was that it was more confusing in some instances rather than in redacted for spoilers where it didn't occur to me until it was revealed
I also don't like the games or fantasy so I don't know why I watched it. It was OK though

Which makes it even more confusing that they chose to hide it. Anyway. I did genuinely like the first season! But I hope the timeline stuff is ditched for S2; I don't think it really added anything.

All up to date on Dexter: New Blood. It is shaping up to be a good season.
Flight of the Conchords - Really wished I had seen this earlier. It's fantastic and very odd, my kind of thing. Two musicians from New Zealand are trying to make it big in America. It's acting interspersed with musical numbers which are great. It also has Kristen Schaal, but I can't think of her as anything else but Louise in Bobs Burgers.

Giving The Witcher S1 a go after hearing from a bunch of folk how excited they were about the new series.
So far, so ok.

That is confusing. I had to check the wiki for the series to work that out, since i haven't noticed any years flagged to help you out.

I’m really annoyed my dvd boxset went missing during our last house move. The first season in particular is an all time favourite of mine.

Out of a bit of masochism, I tried that Girl Before on BBC and am struggling to think of the last time BBC made anything decent. They're absolutely shite for drama.
Not as bad as ITV but fucking dire for the so called "BBC standard"

Not as bad as ITV but fucking dire for the so called "BBC standard" I mean, whether the BBC ever had a great track record on drama is pretty questionable, I'd say. Looking at their output today as compared to say, the 1990s, I'm not seeing it as any worse. In fact in some ways it's disturbingly similar (just a bit less "male and pale"). They've even continued to put out "Old Man Shouts At Cloud" shows steadily over the whole period (the latest ones being David Baddiel and John Cleese but there's never been a shortage of old men - and always men, note - who the BBC has chosen to empower to whinge about how shit things are today).

Yes same. Their new material was every bit as good as the old stuff, which was a pleasant surprise. I was blown away by their musical ability. Worth seeking out the BBC radio series that predates the HBO one if you want more. It has no Murray but it takes more risks.

I was not aware of the radio show, will see if I can track it down. No Murray (present) is always disappointing though

Gomorrah S5... 7 episodes down and I'm loving it. I'll probably finish it off tomorrow instead of my usual Friday film. As someone else said, it is getting a bit "let's introduce this new character then kill them off soon after" Emily in Paris - episode 1 of whatever the latest season is - utterly fucking dire. My missus can watch the rest of that shite in her own time thank you very much. I can't remember disliking the previous seasons that badly, but fuck me there really is nothing to like in this for me... Also started the Xbox power on doc. It's surprisingly compelling stuff.

First series of X-Files ends on a banger. Definitely carrying on with it
I think the series has aged quite gracefully, Scully's wardrobe notwithstanding. The chemistry between Scully and Mulder is great. I don't remember her being so tiny though

Season 5 Episode 5 of Money Heist. I have never said 'fucking hell!' so much in the space of a single one hour TV programme. And now I'm crying. As if it wasn't enough to kill Nairobi, the best character, now you have to kill Tokyo as well. You fuckers.

I started watching Succession S3
Scenes with Kendall are so fucking painful to watch. He's obviously got some sort of bipolar thing going on, the cringe is just off the charts.

I dunno if I've written about it before, but continued watching Pose, which is really lovely, and just very well done, if a total emotional rollercoaster, because it's about LGBT (mostly T and G) people in New York in the mid-1980s and towards the end of S2 is up to 1990 or 1991, so really the heart of the AIDS crisis. It's particularly about Ballroom culture, which almost everyone is a little familiar with by now thanks to Madonna's Vogue and RuPaul's Drag Race (RuPaul was part of the same scene earlier in the 1980s).
It's really heartfelt and compelling (particularly because it knows how to push the brakes on being depressing and can be extremely funny and exciting at times), I felt, as a lot more heart than some stuff Ryan Murphy has been involved with (though, really, he's not too bad about heart - his shows are actually a lot more human than is common).
S1/2 are on Netflix and I think all three seasons are on BBC iPlayer. Recommended to anyone interested in that scene, or in more-accurate late '80s nostalgia (rather than a lot of the insane-super-'80s of certain shows), or just wants to see a lovely and human drama show. S1 is a bit different to S2/3 in that it's also got a lot about a suburban white couple - luckily played by Evan Peters and Kate Mara, which rescues them from being a complete bore (also James Van Der Beek as a real creep which he does well!).

Yeah, my wife watches that too. Mostly for a travelogue/living vicariously etc but she admits it's something of a guilty pleasure (see also Made in Chelsea). Can't stand either, especially the latter.
