Seeing Mulder scrolling though newspaper articles in the X-Files to find out if someone died recently reminded me there was a time before the internet
How did anyone get anything done? I was alive and even I barely remember it

How did anyone get anything done? Because they didn't have the internet.

They don’t even regularly use cellphones until about the third season either

My family loves Brooklyn 99 (to the extent we traipsed to Brooklyn in mental temperatures a few summers ago to see the station where the outside shots are taken), but I just don't get it. They never laugh. It's another of these bland mildly amusing cardboard comedies.
Man Down is great, underrated.

I don’t get Brooklyn 99 either. I can only assume that people are so desperate for another Office/Parks & Rec that they’ll latch onto anything in the ballpark

Your family? I mean that's pretty weird because Brooklyn 99 is a "laugh out loud" kind of comedy. I didn't "get it" for the first season, just watched it going "When does this get funny?", but for some reason coming back to it, it was funny, and it's definitely laugh-out-loud, not Parks & Rec-type stuff.

It's not TBBT levels of unfunniness, but it's definitely only a couple of chuckles max per episode kind of show. It's the kind of thing you have on in the background while you're doing other stuff.

Captain Holt alone shows that you're wrong.

Absolutely felt for that guy on Professional Masterchef just there. Should’ve been the winner.

Working through the last series of Gomorrah and it's just brilliant. Easily in my top 3 series ever and I would be amazed if the last 3 episodes do anything to change it.

Very late, but Man Down (season 1) is marvellous. I'll keep watching, but I think Rik Mayall left us after the first series and it feels like he hurls the chunk of chaos into the mix that makes the whole thing work. The Xmas special was a proper shit my pants gaffawing deal with his 12 scares thing. Tldr: I miss Rik Mayall Me too. A proper genius. You should read his autobiography 'Bigger than Hitler, Better than Christ'. The man has a way with footnotes. I'm just gutted the total bastard died without making an audiobook version.

Finally started Twin Peak, only 2 episodes in. Watching Wheel of Time weekly and rewatching S1 of The Witcher before binging S2 over Christmas

Didn’t Cliff win some cash from the BBC and Police for implying he was a wrong un and showing his house being raided on tv? Cliff's secret thing was that he's gay. My mum saw him living it up in a gay club in London in the early 60s. He still insists he isn't so maybe he's ace or something else. At any rate, it's not a problem nowadays.

I wonder how people would react to a celebrity coming out as Ace. I know a couple who are in a relationship together and it confuses the hell out of pretty much everyone.

Midway through X-Files season 4 and this must be around when Space Above & Beyond was cancelled because the producers have managed to find work almost all of the main cast members now they’re back working on the X-Files. A couple of them even have decent episodes.

Oh. My. God. Season 5 Episode 2 of Money Heist. They are absolutely nailing it with this season. I have never wanted something to happen in a TV programme quite as much as I wanted the end of this episode to happen. Now I'm wondering how Netflix knew I was too pissed to remember the whole of this episode and needed to watch it again. I agree with my initial assessment though. It's such an underrated series, probably because it's in Spanish and people like my wife refuse to watch anything with subtitles. Pleased to see it won an Emmy in 2018 though.
ETA And now Episode 3 is just randomly sticking two fingers up to the GC crowd. I love this series.

How is it underrated when it’s the most widely watched show on Netflix in the entire world?

Surely that's mostly in Spanish speaking countries though. (It's on my list, but haven't got round to it yet).

I noticed a new season of The Witcher has arrived. It reminded me that I've still yet to watch S1. Is it any good?

It didn't do anything mindblowingly original, and it's relatively small scale compared to things like GoT (at least in W Season 1), but it all kinda came together really nicely and I'm not totally sure why. It had more heart than I expected, I think.

One thing they could have worked on was the whole time line thing. I was pretty confused at points as to what was going on. Just a "10 years earlier" would have helped a lot.
