Oh, the Tim Minchin thing? I was enjoying that but my wife wasn't for reasons I can't remember, so we stopped. I like Tim, talented and funny man imo.

First few episodes of Upright (comedy drama with that comedy music guy who isn't bill baily and a young australian girl who looks a bit like the kid from Mad Max 2 but older). First episode didn't really grab me. Seemed to be one of those 'comedy'-dramas that BBC3 did a lot of that aren't actually comedy. But now I kinda like it. It's got that Clockwork (? old movie with John Cleese going on a road trip with a schoolgirl) setup of her continually getting them into trouble by being an entertainingly no-shits-given troublemaker, and him panicking and trying to get out of it. I think it's a Sky thing in the UK? Tim Minchin and Milly Alcock, the one who played the younger Rhaenyra on House Of The Dragon.

Thanks for the Upright reminder, need to finish that one.
Just starting The Sympathiser on Now TV. Seems to have good reviews and has Robert Downy Jr and Sandra Oh in it. Something about spying CIA during Vietnam War then refugee story later…

cheese rolling on iPlayer ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) it's only a couple miles down the road from us & it's impossible to relay just how much steeper that hill is than the TV cameras imply

There was a Netflix thing about that. The clear champ was a girl who could dislocate her limbs and tumble down like a Cush ball… grinning the whole way. Whadda gal.

While we’re on niche activities on iPlayer if the documentary about skipping stones is still online you’ve got to watch it. Its only half an hour long but I remember liking it a lot.

I'm watching original X-Men in preparation for 97. It's a real hit of nostalgia.
I'd also forgotten how quickly they establish Jubilee as the absolute worst. Literally 5 minutes into the very first episode and already I want her to die.

I watched documentary about a footballer player who swindled money out of a lot people including Claire Henry. He pretended to other players and took their credit card details. He was a player for Derby but got a bad injury.
It is interesting that when business people think they may hit the jackpot, they don't do the necessary checks.
Well worth a watch. It's on Netflix.

Mrs Simple has started a rewatch of Mum (iplayer) this week. It really is a beautifully realised and understated show.
Lesley Manville and the Scottish guy are absolutely brilliant.

The Leftovers S1E3
Took me bloody ages to get around to picking this up again after my missus noped out of it after an episode. Glad that I finally did.
I can never figure out if Margaret Qualley is really fucking good at playing annoying characters, or if she's just inherently annoying.

Half way through 'Scavengers Reign' on Netflix and loving it so far. It's a mature, animated series that follows some surviving members of a space ship that are stranded on a Moebius-esque alien planet that is both eerily bizarre and beautiful. I'm pretty captivated so far and can't wait to see the rest.

I was going to ask about that, don’t know anything about the story but the artwork looks gorgeous. The Moebius inspired stuff reminds me of Nausicaa too.

Yeah there's definitely moments that are reminiscent of some of the weirder/grosser things in some Ghibli films. The artwork is great and really conveys the otherworldliness of it all. It's got that indie comic book vibe down.

Yeah, some of the stills looked very Naussica. Which is good because Nausicaa is awesome.

There’s something of Ian Culbard’s art in those Lovecraft graphic novel adaptations and Brink too.
Basically it looks lush and has flown up my to watch list.

The 8 Show
About halfway through and loving it so far. Feel like I've seen something similar before but I can't for the life of me think when or where.

Watching Life on Mars on Netflix. It's very good. Just finished the first series. Gene Hunt is a great character.

I'm watching Eric on Netflix. It's one of those shows where everyone is very good in it, but at the same time I'm not sure the series is actually working. I'm only two episodes in but it's very much trying to be too many things aat once.
Nothing that's made me want to turn off though - there's still time for it to turn everything round.

Is this another Pratchett adaptation? They never quite work on the screen.
