So had 1gig fttp installed yesterday. I'm currently getting faster upspeed than I am down. 90 mbs up, 110mbs down. That's a config fuckup, isn't it? Wired obv? Assume all ports are gigabit compatible?

Sorry, I've got it the wrong way round. It's faster uploading than downloading.

Anybody else on Plusnet suffering an outage?
I wish they wouldn’t obfuscate their network status.

Didn't notice anything in London. We did have an outage a couple of weeks ago though, hope it's not a sign of things to come, we've just renewed our contract seeing as Community Fibre still haven't managed to get to us, over 2 years since they stuck a 'coming soon to your area' flyer through our door.

Fucking hell that's a bargain! Wish it wasn't such an Openreach monopoly outside of cities.
I'd absolutely love a symmetrical connection as well.

May downsize to 3-500Mbps, but would be nice to get a reasonable price for a better rate. Sadly think we are probably a bit limited beyond the bigger companies round here though, but would definitely check!

We had a flyer through the door back in September and I registered my interest and they said they'd contact me. Not heard another thing from them but all the works on our road finished ages ago so I've been checking the offom broadband checker for weeks and nothing. Checked the MS3 site and it's live apparently and there were many options all the way up to 1000/1000. Pick a supplier, package and install date and well contact you tomorrow. So I did. Guess I'll see how it pans out.

Bah, apparently Community Fibre have halted their build projects and they aren't coming to our area any more. Looks like we're stuck with FTTC for the foreseeable.

Currently on the phone to Sky (my provider) as Full Fibre has appeared in my town.
500mb/s with Sky @ £53 (offered me £48) 500mb/s with Plusnet @ £34.99
Seems quite the difference in price!

EE are also offering 500mb/s @ 34.99 making Sky the most expensive by a fair chunk. Anyone here on EE fibre? Any horror stories?

Just signed up with Giganet, £39 for 900 (I know, nobody needs/can take advantage of 900, they do £32 for 500, considering calling back to drop down before they come and install it)
Anyone got any experience?
I can only get Virgin or Cityfibre full fibre networks so choice is a little limited, they seem to offer a decent wifi 6E router (Eero) and the prices are fine.

You can definitely make use of it with current gen consoles and PC (although you really need to wire the series X up as it's got awful WiFi). I love just going to make a cuppa while a hefty game installs and it being ready to go by the time I get back.
Depends on how much value you put on your free time, as it all adds up and an extra tenner or whatever a month seems worth it for almost cutting thumb twiddling in half compared to a 500Mb package.

I value my time quite a lot so having shit download stupid fast is something I've wanted for years.
My youngest son seems to treat Gamepass like netflix more than most and wants to switch between games frequently. Lost count of how many times he's redownloaded stuff because he casually deletes to make room for a different whim

Here come the yearly price increases. Up another £3 with most of that on the line rental.

I knew this new broadband was going to be fast, but when I clicked download on a 30gb game for the first time and watched the progress bar, it sunk in just how crazy fast it is.
4 minutes.

2 engineers came out and ran the fibre cable from the pole to our house yesterday. It's not officially installed until Thursday but I'm well excited.
As they're not disconnecting the old line I will actually have 2 supplies overlapping for a week. The nerd in me knows I'll be doing comparisons.

It's soooooooo close. I've reserved a big fat game install just to test the shit out of it

I heard that Balatro comes preinstalled on all routers installed post Jan 2024, for that instant fix.
