Fully expecting the typical group of death here.

Christ I hope not. Up for a glamour tie, but could do without Barca or PSG for the ten millionth time.

Last time we played a competitive match against Real Madrid was literally before I was even born. Really stoked for it!
And despite the fact both Leipzig and Shakhtar will be really tough fixture for us, I do think we could get something.

Can't believe we're going to pump Real Madrid tonight 5-0 courtesy of a Greg Taylor hat-trick. Joe Hart scoring directly from a bykick is just the icing.

Celtic making Real look ordinary here. Just hope they don't regret making more of this territory.

Haaland is making run after run and being ignored. Some of these city players are not with the program (yet).

Celtic making Real look ordinary here. Just hope they don't regret making more of this territory. Narrator: We did. Had our chances, didn't take them, just lacking that final touch of quality. The Real Madrids of this world hoard the top top players and we desperately lick up the crumbs off their table Been saying it for years though, better to have gone down having given it a right old go. Good stuff.

Yeah, it's weird after getting beaten 0-3 at home, but Celtic actually played really well in large parts of the game. Modric and Kroos are just on a level above. Honestly think we can get points out of this group.

The future of offside ladies and gentlemen:

49 seconds it took to get the decision apparently, nice work.

I always thought the offside law was to prevent an attacking player from gaining an unfair advantage by getting ahead of the play / being a goalhanging knob. I don’t think margins that fine could possibly constitute any material advantage unfair or otherwise.

It is a can of worms that should have remained buried IMO. Fucking hate VAR

Totally agree. Whilst the speed of that decision is welcome, it's still fine margins that, as mentioned above, the offside law wasn't meant to tackle.

I really wanted VAR and was all for it but tbh I'd rather see the back of it now

It's ruining the match-going experience. That moment of losing yourself after scoring is gone.

Also surely they have to change the offside law so it’s about position of feet.

Total aside but City’s kit looked really nice with the claret shorts. Their home kit last season was the worst in the division and would’ve been bad even as a training top so I’m appreciating that step up in class.

Also surely they have to change the offside law so it’s about position of feet. They also need to fucking flag as soon as they spot it. I hate this whole "complete the phase of play". Absolute waste of time.

Absolute waste of time. They only do that in goal scoring situations, and honestly I think it’s one of the few uses of VAR I’m on board with. They could be a bit more brutal on what’s defined as a goal scoring situation though.

Definitely needs to be feet, but I think they should to go back to clear, easy to spot (and immediately see on VAR) air/space between players to be offside. Getting slanted lines out to check if an armpit hair is in front of a defender is complete madness.

Agreed on the feet thing.
Is it supposed to be any part of the body that can legally play the ball at the moment? Because I’m sure I’ve seen them where the line is drawn using hands and arms. Which is doubly mad because a) you can’t handball and b) its normally means the attackers centre of gravity is behind the defender as the arm is leading so he’s not actually in an traditional offside position at all.

I think it does include the top of the arm/shoulder but not hands/forearms. Either way it's shit. Unless everyone score like this
