I’m thinking now with one PL game already to catch up on, and possibly another if their game vs Brighton this weekend is postponed, Conte would be quite happy to not go through in 2nd and have to play 2 legs against a EL drop down. |

You can see why Fred plays tbh. No DM on at all, team looks so weak middle of the park. Nice assist from Donny though...

Much more exciting to watch us now, just need to sort out the sloppy passing a decision making. But tbf a lot of these players have hardly played.

Mata, Lingard and VDB definitely didn't cover themselves in glory tonight. All 3 were varying degrees of awful.
Nice to see some of the kids though and we definitely faded massively 2nd half like we did in the Palace game.

There was something there tonight. It's weird and bear with me, but I could see a lot of what they were trying to do in terms of play. There were just to many players off the pace. Youth players or players who have barely played this season, so a lot of rust, as well as a team that had never really played together before. The ideas were there, the execution less so.
I agree also that the team selection had an air of a Covid thing. They named five (maybe six?) out of a possible 9 with two keepers on the bench. They were either covering an outbreak, or trying to prevent one with what is essentially a dead rubber. But if that were the case why risk AWB, Shaw and Greenwood so I may be talking shite. Maybe it was just a chance to look at players he hadn't seen before whilst keeping players fresh for the winter period. I hope the latter. There were encouraging signs though and if Matic is starting ahead of a supposedly now fit Phil Jones, is that the end of his career at United?
Only time will tell, next week on the United shitshow...

There was literally no reason to play any of the players who started at the weekend or the ones who will play this weekend.

And I've really grown to like Savage too which I never thought I'd say. He's so biased towards us it's hard not to. And the covid theory, all week RR has said he'd be giving youth and fringe players a chance. Awb and Shaw weren't risked they were there tto get minutes coming back from injury. |

And unless covid only spreads among our usual starters, such as Ronaldo, Maguire, Fernandes & Rashford, I’m not really sure there’s any covid-conspiracy to latch onto. |
