So I think Wunty likes this then I’ve really enjoyed my time with it so far. Still finding it quite overwhelming but I guess it’s still early days. Re messages I think my best is on about +5 I’ve not done that many to be fair, I should do some more.

More thoughts after 24 hours play... 1) The mere fact I've spent that long on this game says it all. I've NEVER done that before. Never. Even previous Souls games I only did a few hours at a time. I genuinely can't put it down. 2) They've actually made an open world souls game. Simple as that. Every single part of this world begs your attention. Every corner has something exciting. Every inch of ground has me hammering the screenshot button. 3) The combat has been finessed to the nth degree. They've brought in Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro and taken all the best parts, blending them seamlessly and enabling you to play how you want. There is literally a shit load of ways to play this game and a million reasons to constantly try new builds it seems. 4) It's just fucking cool. Last thing I found was this village high up in a massive cavern, dozens of bodies hanging from a huge bridge and from every tree. I make my way up there, not a clue what to expect. And it's like that everywhere I go. Go back to point (2). When I'm not playing it. I want to play it. Me and the boy's weekend of Elden Ring excess is pretty much over and we're back to limiting how long we're playing in a day, so it's going to be a long road, and very difficult to not just sack off all my actual responsibilities and sit on my arse playing this. Agreed, feel the same. However, go to a site of grace and chill out for a minute and go to the musicians thread and give me your feedback on our song we've finally fucking agreed to release

This well is quite something. The purple, starry night sky down here feels like I've entered a different dimension , just stunning.

I like the normal night sky with the golden dust.
Turns out Torrent can’t land a jump off the cliff. Ay caramba.

Finally home and had a bit of time with it after a weekend away .
Opened a chest and got moved somewhere scary. I eventually realised i could fast travel away like a (sensible) coward slightly further away.
Praise be.
Got me horse. Seen some scary things I've run away from. Levelled up str once.

Fought quite a few side bosses this afternoon. All kinds of bosses: giants, dragons, ghostly shade things, horse-riding knights, weird fire breathing tree thingies.
The last of those was the first boss that annoyed me a bit. The movement was really hard to parse and it was also the first one that I really struggled to control the camera while fighting. It didn't take me too many goes, but I didn't find it a particularly enjoyable fight.
The dragon on the other hand was incredible. I missed it when going through the lake the first time, which might have been fortunate considering how much higher I am in level now. Really spectacular fighting that thing on horseback.
I should probably get on with exploring post Goddrick, but having a lot of fun exploring the south area (and still plenty I haven't seen around there).

Just done the horseback dragon fight in the lake. I am in awe. Probably the single most epic thing I've ever done in a game and I sat there open mouthed at the end. Can't see how anyone can top this.
Fucking Torrent, man. What a star.

This well is quite something. The purple, starry night sky down here feels like I've entered a different dimension , just stunning. On the way down, just before it opens out, you can see through some arches and it looks like there’s a whole other world in between the one up top and the one down below. I tried jumping but it wasn’t to be.

Must have died three times up here, but I've finally made it past and found a site of grace, woot!

I managed to find myself whisked away to another high level area, this time though to an interesting NPC guarded by a mother fucker of a boss.

BTW, anyone struggling at Margit, it looks like our friend we live to hate sells something that helps. Edit: ah just saw mola made use of them, good to know they work as I only got them after of killed him. Also, if anyone IS struggling at Margit, or Stormveil in general, I recommend going over the bridge of sacrifices to the south of limgrave. Judging by the enemies and drops, it's to be done around the same time as the rest of limgrave anyway. Yeah, this is good advice. It sure beats the "What, people had trouble with this boss?! Well, *I* beat him blindfolded on my first try without taking a hit, I'm not sure what the problem is" bullshit that I swear these games bring out more than any other series does.

I'm also seeing far fewer messages/signs/bloodstains in the castle. My guess is that a whole bunch of people ragequit after Margit.
Which is a shame, really. I know that Dark Souls is meant to be a challenge, but the original didn't really ramp it up until, say, Anor Londo. Feels a bit unfair to put a boss like this so early in the game.

Made it to the island, was a bit stressful getting there though. I hate dark places . So that place is interesting though. Also why does my armour now say it’s altered? I got the tailoring kit, but surely I’d have to use it for the armour to become altered? Which I haven’t.

Is there any way I do not have to sit through the logos and accept the terms of online play at the start (and end) of every session? Though this was archaic with DS and DS3.

The item that helps with Magrit only works in phase one as well so abuse it there and beat the shit out of him as quickly as possible so your summon doesn't get hurt much. As soon as your summon dies pop the jellyfish/wolves and unleash everything you can on him.
I actually have a summon I haven't used yet, it takes more mana than I have and I'm trying to get the points I need to use the scythe so can try it yet.

Incredible looking area and not like anything else I've seen so far.

Just went back to the first area to do more exploring and beat the dragon in the water area (Agheel?). Was a fun fight on Torrent. Not so easy on foot though.

I need more vigor or fire protection to fight him, if his fire touches me it's a 1 shot.

DannoNo it’s my starting armour. When I go to alter it the name suggests it will go back to unaltered when I do it (with increased stats). Which seems strange

Finally got round to killing Magrit. Love my summoned wolf pack Rocking the twin blade +4 now and edging through the castle, had some comedy ledge deaths and then parked it for the night. It’s a really interesting one, actually. As someone that’s long (long!) burned out on open world games, something about the abstract nature of this, the map design, the lack of icon blot, the weird atmosphere/aesthetic that gives me strong SotC vibes, is really compelling. I’ve even been able to largely ignore the performance issues on PC, just totally lost in the world. No idea what to do with my build, though. Started as Wretch, and leveled Dex to 25 with a view to a quality build, but then just edged Vig up to 15 for a bit more leeway with Magrit. Kind of feel like I want to do a Dex/Faith build, but not entirely sure. I’ve only dabbled a little with spells so far. Really wish I could find some lighter armour - and an equivalent of the grass shield!

When I altered my clothes, the only thing it appeared to do was lower its weight at the cost of some stats.
(which tbf was pretty useful, I hate having to fat roll everywhere)
