Re. Castle Morne, has anyone actually managed to kill the wee fella outside with the insane sniping eyesight, or did we all sneak in around his back?

Just had a fight at some stone circle with a mini-boss, Bloodhound something. Died once to the git, but Russell went back and showered him with love, so he's now vanquished. You can actually have help for that guy. It involves speaking to Kale and taking a trip to the woods... Oh, I managed to beat him after a few attempts, where is this NPC, I know it won't help now, but good to see if I can pick up the questline further down the line.

What classes/builds are people using? I’m trying a confessor STR/FTH build as well as a Prisoner INT/DEX build and a Astrologer INT build. Been messing about with Samurai too , I run out of arrows too quickly though. I’d love to find an offensive Faith Incantation, any early on? I found one on AN island the one you can see but seems impossible to get to Cheers, I got there, I need a dragon heart though. Found the crafting of fire arrows so if I play more of the samurai I'll be going straight there. I'm back on my sorcerer, It's a bit weird playing parallel builds but I'm enjoying it. Cracking game, Souls meets BOTW, hope they improve the frame rate though. So, I need to find some other spells for my sorcerer and a better sword for when the spells run out and a STR/FTH weapon for my Confessor. And a dragon that I can beat!

From dev 1: "how can we make dragon fights even more epic, but ten times more fun?" From dev 2: "Torrent" Honestly the moment I stumbled upon this fight was the moment the game sold me. Its fucking brilliant. Kind of the wow moment I was waiting for. I am now in danger of compulsively playing this and not stopping. Its properly got it hooks in me. Actually just put down that boss in my last session. Now exploring the mine to the side of it in the lake and that boss is ..well head pounding. Almost had him, but alas I now have a very big headache. How much did you guys explore Limgrave (lets say, around the map you find). Still got a bit too explore yet. Loads of useful stuff, and I can imagine a few people missing quite a bit of it.

I reckon I've rinsed pretty much everything in West Limgrave, still got a fair amount to do in East Limgrave and The Weeping Peninsula, after that I'll move out of the intro

Margit is actually a pretty shitty bossfight, mostly down to that hammer drop, the margin for error is a bit overturned. Can see him being a brick wall for quite a lot of new players.
I was glad to finally see him drop and I've finished almost every one of their games.

Just helped (East Lingrave NPC quest spoiler) some Lord retake his little fort, got a nice DEX/FTH scaling dagger from him. I can see my Confessor turning into some sort of religious assassin type. Got the talisman that boosts jumping attacks, will be on the lookout for the backstab boosting one What a game

Right I'm back after weekend visiting family.
Stopped trying to kill the tree troll thing by the castle entrance and backtracked around a lake. Found the beach by the starting area and think I cleared it out, found my way to an island and then on the way back ran into another fucking tree troll. Managed to chop that one's legs off! Now feeling I might be able to handle the other one. Feels like a good evening of work! And I realise I haven't even left the starting area!
What a game!

Oh, I managed to beat him after a few attempts, where is this NPC, I know it won't help now, but good to see if I can pick up the questline further down the line. So... Kale will ask you to go to the woods and listen for a howl, and give you a gesture. There are some ruins in the woods, go there, listen for the howl and do the gesture. An NPC will jump down. he looks terrifying but he's on your side. Speak to him and he'll say he's looking for someone, the very same someone in the gaol. So when you go to that gaol, you are able to summon your new friend and he'll help you batter him.

Well seems I'll get to do him again - my power extension cable tripped, crashing my PS5, and after getting it working again by clearing the cache, none of today's progress has been synced to the cloud... Serves me right for leaving it on over lunch, rather than exiting the game!

More thoughts after 24 hours play...
1) The mere fact I've spent that long on this game says it all. I've NEVER done that before. Never. Even previous Souls games I only did a few hours at a time. I genuinely can't put it down. 2) They've actually made an open world souls game. Simple as that. Every single part of this world begs your attention. Every corner has something exciting. Every inch of ground has me hammering the screenshot button. 3) The combat has been finessed to the nth degree. They've brought in Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro and taken all the best parts, blending them seamlessly and enabling you to play how you want. There is literally a shit load of ways to play this game and a million reasons to constantly try new builds it seems. 4) It's just fucking cool. Last thing I found was this village high up in a massive cavern, dozens of bodies hanging from a huge bridge and from every tree. I make my way up there, not a clue what to expect. And it's like that everywhere I go. Go back to point (2).
When I'm not playing it. I want to play it. Me and the boy's weekend of Elden Ring excess is pretty much over and we're back to limiting how long we're playing in a day, so it's going to be a long road, and very difficult to not just sack off all my actual responsibilities and sit on my arse playing this.

I feel like they haven't so much made an open world game as made a world, then afterwards worked out how to fit a game in and around it. The sheer design of it all is insane (so far).

It's actually mind boggling tbh. I found the massive walking bell / building thing from the trailers earlier. It's so fucking impressive.
Oh, finally went and battered that bloody tree sentinel as well. Revenge!
I was also quite proud of myself finally putting down a "Don't give up, skeleton!" Sometimes the simplest things are the best...

Speaking of messages, how are we doing for good ratings? I’ve got one on +123, a quite simple “flower ahead, and then turn back” on a dead-end route along the side of a cliff near the start. Any advance on 123?

I put a 'Try fire' down next to the weird slimy spiky things down on the beach, I don't know the score but it's given me a lot of health boosts.

I put a "I'm just getting started..., dog!" message in the room of the first mini-boss I faced in a cave in Limgrave and "First off, archer so to speak dastard ahead" near where that early guard encampment was. Both of those are doing some occasional good ratings and providing some welcome health boosts from time to time.

I've put a few messages down, tried to make them actually helpful, such as indicating where grace is and suggesting letting enemies damage each other (using "betrayal"). Had only about 3 or 4 upvotes on each. I should just be doing "...but hole..." jokes.

If you put signs in front of chests and other objects people need to use then you are a cunt.

I put a "here!!" in a safe corner of the spiky-wheels-of-death corridor leading down from the starting area and it got 6 likes in about five minutes, which helped me a lot during the subsequent boss fight.

Do you lose health if it's rated poor? If so I'm going to rate all the annoying ones in the hope of killing someone when they are fighting a boss to teach them a lesson.

Holy shit, just had my first proper mounted combat fight against Night's Cavalry Holy shit, that was fucking epic. Torrent is da real MVP. It's honestly scary how good FROM are at making games. At their first attempt they've destroyed every other open world game ever made and absolutely nailed mounted combat

Patches , you absolute Putin! I just couldn't resist falling for his offer of a free chest of goodies! It was boobytrapped and I've been transported to a wood filled with giant bears.... On the plus side, i haven't been here before, I've found a new map fragment of Limgrave East and have just ventured down a rather beautiful well... Let's have a look around here then.

I can't recall exactly what I wrote but I alluded to Siegward and sleeping in front of a large pot in the kitchen at Roundtable hold which seems to be getting me a steady stream of likes.
