Spent a bit of time today getting that bloody epic tailsman that stops 1/5 of incoming damage. That’s wild, wish I had that 80 hours ago.
Also got the lightening buff one and the one that greatly increases incantation spells. Also the rot symbol one that greatly increases successive hits.
With all those equipped I now make extremely short work of all these fire knights in shadow keep. I can do two quick lightening throws then the frost lightening smash and they dead before they make it to me.
Pretty sure there is very little left for me now although I can confused with what I’ve done between this main character and a secondary wizard I have ages ago. For example I found the commander in the rot lake in calied that I have definitely killed before but must have been with the wizard. Main game is a bit of a joke now though, just strolling through calied going up to the dinosaurs and giant birds and 1 or 2 tapping them with my lightening. It’s nice to get some revenge.

Also after some checking online it looks like I’ve missed lots of epic lightning spells and more importantly the lightening seal! Tomorrows job to get all that then on to ng+

peacemaker if the talisman is the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, note that it only stops 20% Physical damage. There's other such talismans for the elemental damage types (plus a catch-all "all non-physical damage" one), and they all received their +3/"Greatshield" equivalent in the DLC (although the Holy one looks completely different... and in the interest of avoiding spoilers that's all I'll say unless someone asks )

I just missed that one as I never really fully explored that area when a much lower lvl and it’s by far the most important as physical is by far the most incoming damage in the game.

Are the talismans that give you some kind of benefit but increase damage taken worth the trade off? I don't think it actually tells you how much more damage. I've got a couple of those on - Radahn's and the improved dodge roll one I got one that "vastly" improves your resistance to scarlet rot that gives you about another 2 seconds, which is not useful at all
Also the 2 crucible knights in the hero's grave can keep the 150,000 runes I left with them

I've got a couple of those on - Radahn's and the improved dodge roll one When you're equipping a talisman, you can press Y (or whatever the PS equivalent is) to "Change display (right)" (says something like that at the bottom of the screen), and change the stats shown on the right. What talismans like the Scarseals and Soreseals do is decrease your damage negation as the tradeoff for their benefits, and you can see by how much in that changed status screen

Godskin Duo is not a pair of enemies I wanted to fight together. Had enough trouble with the fat one on his own already. His roll attack is ridiculous
Got to the crumbly place but haven't seen Mog yet. I've changed my mind about the worst enemy- it's those big Bloodborne death puking ones. They've got the death status and a grab combo that's a OHK (at level 78 with 40 vit)

I really hate the couple of bosses I've met so far in this DLC. It's like they just decided to put them on x10 fast-forward.

Great. And now this boss jumps in the air, throws some moons at the floor and insta kills you.
I think I might be done with this.

Yeah, I'm well aware I've barely scratched the surface. I absolutely loved the original game, but this feels like asset reuse + increased difficulty, which doesn't really excite me.
I might ride around the map a bit more and collect the tree bark or whatever the buffs are called. See if that helps. But I'm not coming away from this thinking, damn, that was a close fight, I'll have another go. I'm just getting bored.
The final boss in Sekiro took me like 10 hours to do. But I could see the way through as I chipped away at him over different evenings. These bosses are just meh.

The buffs help massively, the majority of the map you can get to without killing a major boss. It's hard but with the fragments and the ashes its all doable. I was trying to solo everything but gave up after after Messmer. With the mimic and the fragments up to level 18 ive been able to get everything ive tried since in a couple of attemps. Well apart from the end boss.

It's your judgement really. You do 12% more damage for the element of the talisman but take 10% more of all damage. They can be worth it if the extra damage you take isnt really crossing a threshold in terms of hits it takes for an enemy to kill you, because usually it takes a lot of damage kill bosses so you can make the fight go significantly quicker in terms of how many hits it takes to kill them. I used them when exploring if I felt it was going to reduce the number of hits it would take to kill regular enemies and usually ran them in bosses I was fairly confident about not getting hit too much in.

If you've not collected many buffs you're massively handicapping yourself, at 4 blessing for example youll do 30pc more damage. You should be at 4 minimum for her imo.

Speaking of blessings, I'm running through the DLC with a second character (less powerful than my main one) and I'm already at +5 without having killed any bosses. Tomo Look for those scadutree blessings, they are a lifesaver in the DLC

Really having a hard time with these two though. Is 80 underleveled for Godskin Duo? I've come close a couple of times but they're so annoying

I'll spoiler this in case you want to know:
You can put one of them to sleep and it makes the whole fight much easier...
I didn't go with this, but I've seen some videos about it.

Yes, 80 is underlevelled, on a "normal" first playthrough you're supposed to be well beyond 100 here. But you've been very underlevelled all the time, so it's at your discretion really. But even so they have a reputation of being one of the biggest roadblocks on the main game path, so it's not the levels alone.

Fuckin ell Problem is I've spent so much time trying to beat them that if I level up now and do it, it won't feel satisfying What really annoys me is how the AI for the fat one becomes so aggressive after the first kill that it becomes really difficult to separate them, especially once the scenery has been demolished
JonFE it's tempting but I must be strong and stay the course

That's pretty low. Generally speaking most people doing a thorough playthrough will have hit 110+ by then.
The Elden Ring wiki has a decent "expected/recommended" level guide per area (be warned this shows areas you might not know about yet)
For comparison on my replay I was hitting 80 by Leyndell iirc, without stopping to farm or anything like that.

That guide contains spoilers about remaining regions though edit: and I disagree about its choice of putting Snowfield/Haligtree before Farum Azula, they're both higher level (in terms of enemy scaling) and contain the hardest boss of the game. Pretty sure it's intended to be the final game content. Without doing Farum Azula first you won't even have the smithing stone bell bearings at that point.

It's based on item smithing drops for the most part iirc, the last few areas are fairly interchangeable as they all drop the materials for +24/25. They've probably got those two the wrong way around order wise though, yeah.

Also, I think I have been quite thorough in my exploration but I've been spending all my runes on the various shards. Got 100+ of each of the normal ones up to 6 and about 50 for the somber ones. Also buy all the magic and armours and everything just because
