It also makes me laugh that they really like nerfing fun stuff for the SINGLE PLAYER portion of a game but do absolutely fuck all about the performance of the game. Aye, was about to pass the same comment. I love their games, but performance of From games, particularly Elden Ring on PC, is unacceptable. Can't believe the DLC actually seems to be worse than the base game too.

Indeed. Could do with some polish. I was dropping frames as often as I was runes.

Especially for a dlc there is so much hidden stuff. I found at least 4 named bosses now since beating the final boss. One was by accident and 3 others were from comments on here that made me investigate further.
Got a nice sword that avoids blocking, sword of the night or something. The burial blade thing has such a great special for bosses. It’s a multi directional fast dodge that leads into a nasty combo.

It also makes me laugh that they really like nerfing fun stuff for the SINGLE PLAYER portion of a game but do absolutely fuck all about the performance of the game. The total crossover between "people responsible for balancing the game" and "people responsive for improving the game's performance" is a grand total of zero people.

I must be lucky, framerate on my PC has been fine barring the very rare frame stutter.

On my aging PC the base game runs pretty well, better than most contemporary games actually. Mostly smooth sailing at 1080p60 at high settings, with drops in the 50s in some places, and only really tanking at the fireworks mausoleum in Snowfields.
In the DLC the framerate drops about half the time, fairly often down to the 30s (besides, this seems to be CPU overload, not GPU). I won't fault it for running badly on hardware that's close to minimum specs, but it does run far worse than the base game.

The performance for the game is bizarre and seems completely erratic between PCs regardless of hardware. I'm sitting on a 4090 and even without ray tracing it will drop to 40-50 FPS in some areas in the open world (often find it in areas with waterfalls or it could just be areas with big vistas). I don't have those drops issue in the base game, although both have drops when there is a lot of particle effects going on (see the walking mausoleum in the Consecrated Snowfields that tanks every system to pretty much single digit frame rate).
This is a long with the same traversal and shader stutters that everyone has had since since release.
Edit - should also add that bizarrely the game only ever uses about 60% of my GPU. I've even had it reading on my Geforce overlay as using 100%, but the wattage being nowhere near. It is incredibly odd.

I've a 5600x and a 3060Ti, no raytracing. Certainly smoother than the PS5 OG game. My eyes may be getting old but I've not noticed anything particularly jarring.

The performance is broadly stutter issues I believe. The best way to play it is on the PS5 using the PS4 version. Barely looks any different but it's a locked, stutter free 60fps.
The trouble on PC isn't so much frame rate as frame pacing, even when it's a locked 60 according to your frame rate counter, it's not often *smooth*. Frankly I wish they'd just let me turn VSync off so I can have GSync properly handle it.

It does make you wonder what it is. They're definitely not short of cash but I know they don't have great working conditions or pay but the gaming press wets themselves over Miyazaki so you rarely get any criticism of that let alone performance.

The stuttering is annoying when it happens but it tends to not be at important points for me. I think some others have it far worse though.

That is the funny thing. As much as I might moan about performance, I don't think I've ever actually had any deaths be a result of the poor performance. There might be the odd stutter mid fight, but it never seems to be when it would actually matter.

I think I’ve now seen every section of the map. But I’m lvl 16 so I’ve missed 10 upgrade pick ups or more!
I didn’t bother fighting the boat boss in the dlc from the main game or the other copy boss bird so maybe there are two but who knows!! It doesn’t surprise me I missed a few but ten or more!?

The platforming really is abysmal in this game. I'm baffled as to why they keep forcing it on people.

It's really annoying trying to fine adjust for things.

What they needed to include was a little bit of lore with each of the Scadutree upgrades that gives you an indication of where you are supposed to be with each level. That is how it is done in Sekiro with the beads, with the description of a completed set mentioning particular bosses to indicate where you are expected to be when you complete it. Here though, I have absolutely no clue how many I'm expected to have at any point.
It is a bit different from Sekiro, being a non-linear game and some people might get many more early compared to others (I saw something saying you can apparently be level 14 without defeating any bosses), but they could still work around that. Have each level give you another snippet of Miquella's journey through the Land of Shadows or something.

ned some thoughts / tips Prioritise the Scudatree fragments to boost your damage and defence. You can solo the bosses, but there are some brutal challenges and I think they designed sections / bosses to be taken on with a Spirit Ash summons. The co-op NPC summons have their uses, but just add to the boss health bar, so pretty baby best avoided Get your vitality up, north of 50, nearer 60 if you can Good luck

I think 60 vigor should be the minimum really.

Thanks for tips!
It does seem to be balanced around using an ash and summons. Solo is somewhat masochistic, esp on boss at the end of Belurat Tower.
I imagine there is worse to come!

What is this screenshot showing? How from software don’t care about their games?

No, just an encounter in my randomizer run that I found funny
edit: and now I feel I have to reiterate that I complained that they don't care about the camera issues, not that they "don't care about their games".

I hate dragons in these games so much. Run up to one, whoops it jumped away. Run up to it again, whoops it's flying now, oh look it went to the other side of the arena, that's great. Try to target the legs, oh no this dragon's legs are slightly too small to target, why don't you try aiming for the head, hmm?
Oh it hit you twice and now you're dead? Try again?

I feel like there should be some kind of design law, where if the monster you're creating is the size of a house, it can't also be faster than you.

And while I'm on the moan train (I like this game I swear), it annoys me that every boss seemingly now has to have one or two extra AoE follow up attacks after they do a big attack.
It's not more challenging: once I know they exist, I can just roll one or two more times, or block for longer. But it is significantly more irritating, because I have to wait for longer to be able to get hits in, and it just turns the whole fight into a huge drag.

I kinda agree but it is a dragon. It should be able to piss you off and be hard to kill.

The one at the top of Jagged Peak I hate the most. Get in the arena, it instantly charges right at you, boom you're dead. No time to summon or anything.
