The one at the top of Jagged Peak I hate the most. Get in the arena, it instantly charges right at you, boom you're dead. No time to summon or anything. Opaline Bubbletear in the Physick is your friend, a one-time insurance policy against all out-the-gate attacks (just remember to drink it before going in!). It's how DadFE did Bayle too, IIRC

Awww I kind of liked that one. It was like running into an old friend.
Though yeah, it's also emblematic of the worst qualities of Elden Ring boss fights. Just flailing around everywhere, with very little clear indication as to hitboxes and the like.

My least favourite kind of boss to be honest. No doubt I’ll come back and give it another go at some point. Not even technically a boss I guess.
Divine Beast Dancing Lion was pretty easy though.

Finding early stuff that I missed. Upto lvl 18 and 8or9 now. Still get instantly deleted by most bosses if I mess up the dodge.

I followed a guide for the last 6 Scudatrees I needed. Still a good surprise to find one and other loot in an area I’d swear I’d done 100% thoroughly.
Farmed for the circular twin blades from those spinning jumpy twats, they’re pretty good.
Wish I’d used the Bloody Helice a lot earlier. It’s pierce damage wrecks the late game armoured enemies that had been giving me grief and the bleed is a great bonus.

Managed to find a talisman in the Hinterlands area that I suspect will massively help with the second stage of the final boss, as it "boosts holy damage negation by the utmost" (or 22%, according to Fextralife).
My searching last night did not award me any fragments though, which is what I really wanted. Still have a couple of chunks of he map to reach (the big peaky area and the area that is in the East), but I'm sure I missed a whole bunch in areas that I've already been.

I heard that there's some kind of mod available where you can just explore everywhere and the enemies don't attack you.
That's probably my cup of tea right there, just to check the map out!

The map is really cool, one of their best. Very verticle. And so far found ways to get to most of it with having to kill a boss.

Got Bloodfiend's Arm and put it with the Ash of War Royal Resolve and Jesus titty fucking Christ it's insane especially as I have blood loss build-up of 204.

Finally beat him. Thank God. Final boss spoilers I tried for a while with my usual shieldless melee, which is my preferred playstyle and was perfectly viable against everything else in the DLC and the main game. But this way, he's genuinely harder at level 187 with 16 Scadutree than Radabeast is at level 1. It's fucking absurd.
Caved in then and used the Fingerprint Shield, and it took only a few more tries in which I learned to be as braindead as possible: just keep blocking everything until there's an easy opening, then poke. Repeat. NGL it wasn't very satisfying, I just feel huge relief that it's finally over. And I think the balancing is seriously fucked here, there shouldn't be such an absurd difference between shield and no shield. But whatever, thankfully I don't have to care anymore now.
For weapon, I thought about using the Bloody Helix too, but picked another heavy thrusting sword, the Sword Lance from Gaius's remembrance. Put a blood infusion on it which gave it 138 bleed at 34 ARC, that did rather nicely.
Tip: do upgrade your shield, it'll reduce stamina consumption from blocking, invaluable especially in this fight.

I do indeed hope to. What was your build for him? I think it was you. I've got impenetrable thorns and that's okay but doesn't seem as amazing as it is against some others. I think you had bleed / arcane build of some sort?

FlexibleFeline Bloody Helice and Haligtree great shield fully upgraded. Mimic at full +10, I was +18 Scudatree. Talismans focus on defence, Erdtree max, Dragoncrest max, shield talisman to boost guard. Physick to boost stamina and stamina regen Build was 60 dex, 58 arcane and vitality, 25 faith for golden vow, 30 endurance Crab for damage reduction, you might get a chance to chug another if the mimic gets grabbed Put a Marisa’s blessing in your equipment as the mimic can use it for full health re-up at no cost to you. Don’t use it yourself if poss Strategy is create distance and summon mimic. Shield up and poke. Manage stamina and health at all times. Don’t get greedy Phase 2 - try and survive. Use holy defense consumable Chip away & pray Good luck

Cheers loto! That's quite a different build and approach from my normal one (e.g. I almost never use shields). I'll give him a few more attempts and then may re-spec to this, but I need to check to see if I have Bloody Helice and Haligtree great shield.

No probs. The sword is in a mini dungeon in Altus iirc. The shield is a tricky farm from a single enemy in Haligtree, near where the Dragoncrest talisman is
I wouldn’t necessarily respec, just try a Greatshield on your own build and see how you get on, the shield is the key to beating him in my opinion

You need to pack out arcane for it to get the full benefit of thorns. When it procs a bleed you should see a huge chunk of health disappear.
Boosted it with bleed gear. White mask/alburniacs armour with a greatshield

FlexibleFeline My Impenetrable Thorns build was pretty much just my usual build (Lusat's Staff, Staff of the Guilty in the off-hand for the only equipment buff and I don't even know if it boosted the Bleed procs, and a Physick that boosted damage negation and magic damage dealt) and my Arcane was at most 40 (I forget exactly how much) The thing still shredded him, with the NPC summons boosting his health the Bleed procs alone were something like 10k! A focused build would be ridiculous

Took a stroll through the Abyssal Woods last night. After seeing a lot of grumbling about it here, I actually haven't found it too bad. Only problem is I have no idea where I'm meant to be going and have a feeling I'm going to end up avoiding those guys with the eyeballs multiple times. Doing it once is ok, but repeating it is going to get tedious quickly.
Did find an area that was all foggy, which is probably where I was meant to go, but not sure how to get through that without being spotted. Reached some waterfalls that I thought would be something, but seemed to be nothing around there.

My issue with Abyssal Woods is that it's really boring. There was potential there for something gripping and spooky but on the whole the area really felt like an afterthought: map filler. I did enjoy the Manse, though.

I’ve just killed the boss in there and it’s shit. I’d go as far to say it’s the worst area of any from game. It’s not just that it’s empty and you have to hoof it everywhere, it’s just terribly designed.
I think I’ve pretty much cleared the map now and there are a few areas that need work or just cutting. I don’t know if they had too much time or not enough but there are areas that clearly aren’t finished.
Actually, since I’m more or less done
- the map contains too many bare areas - illusionary walls are stupid - you shouldn’t be allowed to put a message within six feet of an interactable - downvoting a message should take a flask away

Yeah this, some prick put one on the summon sign in the bayle fight and I hope he steps on Lego every day for the rest of the year.
