I haven't really tried them yet, either. I never usually carry around a magic wand but I have levelled up (and never used) the albinauric staff because it scales S with occult, so I might give it a crack.

Can confirm (not that you lot need my seal of approval) that the thorns spell Frog was praising the other day is indeed great; first attempt with that at Messmer and he is down. Not a clean fight I'll give you that, but a win nevertheless Agreed - it's a beast of a spell. Need to do Messmer before they nerf it!

I might pop my summon sign down and give folks a help now I know how to do him. Fairly confident I can stay alive.
People are scarily good at him already though. When I was learning him and summoning randoms there was a guy with the bog standard gold traingle godrick soldier shield that went toe to toe with him well into phase 2. Parrying him and just rolling through everything.

Meanwhile I'm just getting started. Defeated the Blackgaol Knight this morning. Slowly getting my mojo back. Kudos for getting him, he was a bastard to me when I started and left him for later. Once I levelled up and got one particular new weapon, I went to town with him, but he was a reality check when we first met...

Yeah. All these mausoleum bosses are bloody tricky. Some of them just outright cheat as well. (I'm looking at you Rakshasha of the infinite weapon art )

(I'm looking at you Rakshasha of the infinite weapon art ) I don't know about that, turns out flying kicks to the face work rather well for anything human sized, cheats or not... Dryleaf Arts + The Poison Flower Blooms Twice (really you only need the Poison Flower but Dryleaf Arts is a neat and easily obtainable weapon in general) washed all of the mausoleums with minimal fuss

Just lost 100k runes to him cos the game wouldn't cancel a lock on or pick up the runes no matter what I pressed.

Looks like I’ve missed a Twinblade in the final area, only reached after a lot of parkour.
Guess I’ll be going back then.

There's a skibidi fragment that way as well.

I thought Rakshasa was fucking hilarious btw, I went in there and she just did the same 2 hit combo over and over and over and over
(Until I bludgeoned her face with a giant sunflower)

Right, enough mucking around in the main game.
Starting the dlc proper now. Using a l150 arcane bleed build with Mohg's giant candlestick.
Mimic Tear on standby.
Always something magical about exploring a new Fromsoft map, this looks like a good one.
We who are about to die salute you, O Caesar/Miyazaki.

Before work I had a quick look for missing skibibabbledowopdodingdong fragments. Turns out I was only short by about 5 so I have maxed out by blessings now. Too late, but it was annoying me.
Last thing to do before parking this is to kill the remaining two fire basket wankers. Then I think I'm done diddly done. Been everywhere, killed everything, fucked up most of the NPC questlines.

Yeah, cheers ; it was the Euphoria and it’s mine, with a Scooby Shard. Took a jump into a poison swamp at the bottom and found another mini boss, together with a locked gate I couldn’t open.
There’s another door in Shaded Keep I’ve not found the correct side to open it from. Every time I think I’ve 100% explored it, I keep seeing a purple loot on another floor. That Thorns spell is a good example, completely missed that staircase as just concentrating on getting to the boss.

I haven't found any weapon to replace my giant hammer yet.
But weirdly it's actually been pretty ok. Maybe I was overleveled going in (about 150ish), but overall I haven't found it as hard as I was expecting it to be. I killed that dancing lion thing the first try (with Freja and a spirit ash to help out, tbf)
Even the chakram fuckers are not such a big deal now. After I rediscovered the lost art of standing behind the heaviest shield in the game and pressing the block button, most of their fancy bullshit just bounces right off until they get a hammer to the face.

If that gate is the sewer gate you're actually on the wrong side of that one as well. There's a key you can use to unlock it from the other side that's found within that dungeon on your first visit. I forget where exactly though.

Due to watching my son I found the hole and then the area and the boss. I did find that hole on my own but did not notice the drop down part. The boss took a few tries as my turtle build wasn’t suited for it.
Anyway I’ve respec to play as the blood borne character pledged to the bile bloods. The weapon seems to hit like a truck and unless I’m mistaken it has the fastest blood build up in the game at 78.

My Bloodfiends Arm infused with blood would disagree. Blood build up currently is 180.

Bloodfiends arm is the best bleed weapon now.

Just looked it at. Meh. Yeah it bleeds but being the bb character is infinitely cooler plus wearing his whole armour set buffs everything and it’s fp move is a multi directional dodge that charges a devastating r2 attack. That arm is just another hulk smash weapon (that also bleeds crazy quick).

I’m reconciled with just having a slower pace at this game now - I get too wound up if I spend an entire evening just on Erdtree, so I’m breaking it into 1-2 hour chunks. Currently only done the first obvious castle with Lion boss, and then stumbled East to a map I haven’t uncovered and another castle.
It’s bloody brilliant, just not un-put-downable like a Dark Souls or the opening third of Elden Ring.

Another boss, another AoE spamfest. Hohum. From has really been surpassed by Team Ninja when it comes to bosses, this just feels dated.
Edit: I just looked him up and noticed I am at the final boss. I hadn’t expected that, I must have missed 50% of the game…

Team ninja have some god awful bosses as well to be fair. That’s true, but many of them feel like fair, tough 1 vs 1 fights. SotE’s main difficulty comes from AoE spam and boss movement patterns that make the camera spaz out. I love the game, but the bosses, particularly in the addon, are by some margin the weakest element.

Some definitely move a bit quicker than the camera can cope with. The camera could definitely do with some modernising at some point as it's had the same issues since Demons and that was a long time ago!

They don't care. It's got worse and worse over the years as enemies and bosses get ever faster and crazier, and for over a decade now they've been refusing to do anything about it whatsoever. I expect it only to go further downhill because seriously, they just don't fucking care.

I expect it only to go further downhill because seriously, they just don't fucking care. Eh? I’m sure they very much care about every aspect of their games. They have a phenomenal output rate generally releasing a classic game every two years. Demons was the original flawed gem Ds1 they refined this formula and greatly improved it to one of the best games ever. Ds2 I believe was a different director but is still a great 9/10 game. Blood borne a reinvention of the formula that made it feel very different and is also one of the best games ever and pretty much universally loved. Ds3 a greatest hits if you will with many classic moments Sekiro, again like bb they reinvent their own formula again and create another fresh classic. Elden ring. Their first open world attempt and nailed it first try. Then add to that excellent dlc for most of these titles a year later so every year we either get an incredible game or excellent dlc. Yeah I think they care. Also the bosses need to get faster and harder as we have improved. Pretty much all demon souls and dark souls 1 bosses are ridiculously easy now. At the time I found them incredibly difficult.
