This is immense, but I am quite surprised how poorly this runs on the PS5 (peformance mode no less), while not looking even remotely like the Demon‘s remake.

Holy shit. Opened a chest, which was trapped. Got teleported to a cave in another part of the map. Had to leg it out as I was being destroyed, ended up in this creepy town full of ghost sorcerer chaps, the sky was bright red. Thankfully I could teleport out of there once I was out the cave. Blimey |

Possibly being thick, but how do I use the ashes? There's a blacksmith in the hub area who can apply them to your weapon. You then have to two-hand the weapon and press L2. This makes them really annoying to use if you have a sword and shield. |

Are we talking the weapon art/skill or the summon? The weapon arts you need a wet knife and the summons you need a bell.

Well this thing is pretty special.
They really seemed to have nailed the Dark Souls/BotW mashup they were going for.
On series X with VRR, no performance issues whatsoever and it looks great.
Played a couple of hours and a bit of multiplayer. Definitely helps having completed Dark Souls and Bloodborne.

Like an overexcited child on Christmas morning, I woke up far too early so had my first crack of this. It's just wonderous. If I could scoop out my thoughts and pour them into a game sized thing, I think the result would be something very similar to this.
It's the game I always wanted and in my head, it's the Fighting Fantasy books I loved as a child so much brought to life. An open world where everything is intriguing and it's almost a bit overwhelming at first, where to go, what weapon to use etc.
PS5 performance mode could be slightly better I suppose but I, like many here I'm sure, have been playing these games since the PS3 so it's very minor nitpicking. In the true sense of the word, Awesome.

Had to stop after an hour or so due to stupid work. Very early game stuff (hopefully) spoiler tagged below. Initial impressions are good. Although it’s s bit overwhelming to start with as to where to go. I may just follow the light for a while and see where it takes me. Feel a bit uncomfortable fully exploring the first area with that horseback dude lurking about. Will come back to him later… I’ve got to the church bonfire and met Santa Kale. He is dressed like Santa right? Or was it just really early and my eyes aren’t working properly Looking forward to heading out later to see what I can find. Death probably. Went samurai as I love a bow and a katana so perfect starting character for me. Hopefully I can find a decent shield soon. |

Also went Samurai, Rob. Like Johnny bravado I'm just two handing my uchi all the way. Which is going to get me killed.

It took my nearly ten hours to find a 100% damage block shield but then I did spend that ten hours doing everything except head in the direction the game tells you to go in.

I also spent a bit of time on the character creation trying to create a vague resemblance of myself. As always, I failed. Should have just gone random and cracked on with the game.

Jesus christ. Ran away from God knows what on a black steed, only to run into what the fuck it was 2 giants were dragging down a path. Hid bravely in some shrubbery until all was calm. Did you take a look through the ruins just behind them? 🎃! |

It's fucking brilliant
It's dark souls 4
It runs like ass at times and there's horrendous pop in
It's beautiful
It's overwhelming
The horse is great
The horse is silly
I love it and don't really want to stop playing it.

The only fight I haven't managed to beat so far is that scythe wielding fucker who invades in the big hall at the hub area. He is brutally aggressive and heals himself to boot. |
