The only fight I haven't managed to beat so far is that scythe wielding fucker who invades in the big hall at the hub area. He is brutally aggressive and heals himself to boot. Indeed is a bastard. I just jump smash spammed him but then I'm a strength character with an extremely large weapon.

Anyone playing it who isn’t massively into Souls games or gives up on them? Keen to hear those thoughts. Me. Loving it as its so non-linear - have run away from a few mini-bosses already and just enjoying the grind and exploration for now. Good, came here to ask the same question. Should really go back and try them again....

This is a really stupid question, but should I be breaking all the urns and pots and shit I come across? Does loot ever come out of them?

This is a really stupid question, but should I be breaking all the urns and pots and shit I come across? Does loot ever come out of them? Items have often been hidden behind breakable objects in previous souls games. Plus smashing pots by rolling through them is its own reward!

Two hours of the working day done. Just 7.5 more.
I narrowed down my starting class to Vagabond, Samurai or Confessor.
Though I am tempted to go Warrior for a Bloodborne esq feel. Normally would go with Vagabond but like the idea of having a bit of flexibility with the Samurai bow and the Confessor magic. Guess I got all day to decide!

I grabbed half an hour and did the starter/tutorial area, feels pleasingly familiar and new at the same time. Cannot get parry timing down at all but backstabs feel easy.
Prize for best message so far goes to “Beware of Tarnished but hole” \o/

Apart from the first 5 minutes in DS3, this is my first actual attempt at a From game, and boy does it feel like it's something special.

Ha ha. Oh shit. Some of his dialogue seemed to hint that you may regret it if you kill him or one of his mates

Anyone found a way to upgrade armour? I'm still in the starting hero outfit not even at +1.

It's funny. I thought the open world elemetns would annoy me. But in a souls game, when I spend so much time farming for items, it just feels a logical extension of that to kill animals for shit and pick up plants, so I don't mind.

Plugging my controller in seems to have sorted my controller problem. It was quite strange, with the controller randomly turning itself off and even the Steam overlay not detecting it sometimes. If it weren't for all the other people saying they had issues, I would be thinking it wasn't the game. Anyway, plugging in seems to be working until an actual fix comes along. Managed to play an hour. Don't know how much progress I've made though, as I only just got my steed. Feeling as if I made a poor choice for my class by going bandit. Starting with a bow was nice and it offered a good mix of dex and arcane. The knife is proving a bit shit though, mainly due to, obviously, having no reach. Managed to ignore the tutorial area ( I'm not going to trust a ghost dude that tells me to jump in a pit! , so was a bit thrown into the deep end when the first thing you encounter is a a massive dude on horseback . I assume you aren't meant to fight that, so I bravely ran away... before deciding to give it a go and getting slaughtered by it, without laying a hit (death 1). Took me a little while to remove controls of FFxii Remake from my brain, having just finished that off. Despite playing plenty of Souls games, I was initially running up to things and hammering the use item button. Besides that though, the controls are taking a bit to get used to. Having so much tied into Y/triangle does feel strange, but it serves the purpose of giving us a dedicated jump button, so it is probably worth getting used to. As ever, the art direction is as gorgeous as ever. The ever present tree looming over everything is stunning and there are plenty of the trademark vistas to look out at. Technically, it isn't pushing the boundaries, but it still manages to look the part. Performance on PC is mostly okay for me. I've not checked actual FPS, but it feels solid. Unfortunately, I am getting stutters every couple of minutes. Everything will freeze a couple of times every 2-3 minutes, even during cutscenes. It is something that really needs sorting and I wouldn't argue with anyone that considered it a game breaking problem. I am happy to persevere through it, but I can see some going for refunds over the issue. My next step is likely to re-roll my character. I should be able to get back to where I am quite quickly. I would also like to explore the first proper area a little more before moving on, as I'm sure there is plenty I've missed.
