I have laughed at all the enemies they have in the game that are based on existing IP. Yoda, Logan, Berserk. Although tbf I think most of Elden Ring is pretty much Berserk.

Also. Could this be any more Bloodborne? Winter Lantern lookalike frenzy building enemies next to flies carrying frenzy grapes actually called... Winter Lantern Fly All it's done is make me reinstall Bloodborne. Yep and there’s a whole area that reminded me of it and I’ve now got a full armour and weapon set from cainhurst castle! Praise Annalise, Queen of the vile bloods.

I'm mainly laughing at all the assets that they are re-using from all their previous games. I love it all, as previously discussed, so I don't care, but they're getting a lot of mileage out some of this shit. The dogs haven't changed since Dark Souls!

I know. It's fucking nuts. I mean it's still playable obviously but my sweet lord I'd never stop playing it if it was 60fps and a higher res. Dark Souls 3 got one. Same fucking engine (and version of engine pretty much, I mean surely, given how close they released). There's blatantly demand for it so what. The actual. Fuck. It did?! I thought that was frame rate boost from Xbox? Got patched on PS as well. It's a locked 60fps on PS5

So, uh... (boss talk) Bayle the Dead? www.xbox.com/play/media/r9HdiE57ddFor anyone who wants to try this, Shard Spiral only needs 27 Int and I wasn't buffing it in any way besides my natural Int and using Lusat's Staff (spells cost more but are stronger). Just make sure you're not locked on to his head, instead casting it so that it stays in his body as much as possible to hit more times

JuniorFE - I had a go at Senessax, lasted seconds (+15/+9 Mimic) and noped out of there. According to the wiki, it’s got 46k HP, so it can take a fuck off pill. Is Bayle past it, or is there another route? Trying to tie up the NPC quests

Is Bayle past it, or is there another route? Trying to tie up the NPC quests You can run past Senessax and up an upward-sloping cave to keep going, it's entirely optional That said, even if it's not staying still long enough for Shard Spiral... www.xbox.com/play/media/NBEUpLAztk(This one is at +9/10 -I forget- and +5, as was Bayle, and does have talisman buffs, and I'm also cheating a bit because I made sure the Mimic only had catalysts on and Meteorite of Astel as the only spell, so that it only did that when it attacked... But if it works it works )

You got very lucky with Sen there, didn't do any of the camera breaking bullshit that he does when you have to melee with him.

Anyway, parked it after Happy Hippo for now. I already "heard a Great Rune break" (whatever that means) earlier by heading down an entirely different path, but I think the only thing that can really screw up questlines comes after Messmer, so Shadow Keep it is... And I've got other places to explore if things don't pan out!

AHH you just reminded me, I need to go to where that is, completely forgot to revisit.
Now just need to remember where it was.

IMO at this stage in the game you're probably close enough to caps that +5 to stuff isn't all that great - but the bonuses you'd get from Morgott's rune would be fucking massive

I'm fighting Senessax right now and I have to say - I am not being hyperbolic, but I honestly think from has managed to make not only a boss worse than Bed of Chaos, but possibly the worst video game boss I've ever played, by a considerable distance. It's not even a remotely close run thing either. Every single thing about the fight is bad or borderline unplayable.

If there's one thing I can level against the DLC, it's that it really doesn't want you to solo things, moreso than the base game. I'm sure some have done it (including you, IIRC), maybe even all the way through, but with the aggression of the bosses and the numerous AoEs some have it's heavily discouraged

If not run at it with horse, hit it 2-3 times, run way and circle around and charge at it again. Worked first time for me with needing to heal 1-2. I got rage trying to beat it then saw that strategy on Reddit.

I'm on the thing after now.
I'm not really sure what they want you to even do in this fight. There's only one spot you can lock on to, but you only get like... one opportunity every 5 minutes or so to even hit it, and if you do so with anything but one of the faster weapons in the game you don't have enough time to even do one attack without getting caught by the next combo.
Greatshields don't work because a lot of his attacks hit around you anyway, and if you go under him unless you can see the future there's not enough time to get out of the way.

After reading this I genuinely can’t wait until you meet the final boss. I will enjoy your anger, just to know someone went through what I did haha.

Duff, try a different approach? I found Sennessax the easiest boss of the DLC so far and think the Bayle fight might be From's best boss ever. BTW there's a YT vid of someone doing him hitless at RL1 without scadutree blessings so clearly his moves CAN be dodged reliably. Are you refusing to summon the NPC, who makes a huge difference (and has awesome dialogue)?

Yeah, I'm doing summonless if possible. I'm close enough to winning that I know it's doable. It's possible to dodge, but the camera effectively makes it RNG for me. It requires near frame perfect dodge for some combos, with correct input directions, but the camera swining wildly randomly reverses the dodge direction.
The first phase is semi ok, but the second is just boring because instead of having windows to attack, he just jumps to the other end of the arena. You just have to try to hit him once every 15 minutes and not fall asleep.

I had enough rage using mimic every boss. I can’t even imagine going through that pain. As you said I thought that boss was epic and one of their best but I summoned. Still took maybe ten tries.

I'll do this tomorrow. I'll probably summon the NPC, for my personal ruleset it probably doesn't count because it's so obviously intended like the ones in Radahn in the base game.

nvm I got him I had a go with the summon. Part of the reason for avoiding it in this fight is that gold summons usually increase the boss health pool. I didn't realise this was a special one that can't die and doesn't increase the boss health. I assumed it would just get killed halfway through make it harder . I don't mind summoning those
Dunno how you found senessax easy - although maybe it's my "no summons" warping it. It's just my preferred way to play most of the time, I find the ash summons in particular just trivialise stuff.
I'll forgive the other fight though, that one genuinely designed around it. Not using it was probably a bit like trying to do Storm King without the Storm Ruler. I did almost get him a couple of times though. It turns out me questioning "what do they even intend you do in this fight" did have an answer. Apologies for spamming up the page with my complaining.

I got back in with my big hammer character, and I've nfi what I'm doing. And I have to beat Mohg? Maybe I'll do some rune farming. Does the spot with all those idiots camping on the hill in Mohg's Palace still work?

I think the camera makes those 2 dragons far worse than they need to be.
