My donkey is too frightened to be summoned apparently.
I want to go home, O I want to go home

Commander Gaius down on the third try. Bit of a subscriber to the "lol no you do not get to attack club" in the second half isn't he.

Not as far as some of you guys. I’ve done castle Ensis but gone back and started exploring either side of the bottom bonfire. Done the fog catacombs and now meandering down an underground river. Feels like I got about 10 routes to go back on and explore the other direction. Whether I’llremember them is another matter.

Met up with this Messmer fella you have all been talking about. Did not have much success with my hour or so banging my head against his snake face. He kind of felt doable in a way, but the damage output just meant one move left me fucked or staggering to recover. His snake attacks in phase 2 felt manageable, but I only managed to get to it 3 or 4 times, so never really got a feel for it.
Decided to leave him alone and try to get some more scadutree fragments. I was on 10 and I'm sure I've missed loads. Also went to beat up the dragon in the lake near the beginning that I swerved. Might go kill the other one too.

If they’d made it a bit more like Bloodbornes forbidden woods that would have been cool.

280k runes lost because I thought I‘d rush through an obstacle course with explosive barrels. Ouch.

I will say though, that the place at the end of the woods is one of the coolest looking exteriors yet. The way it's framed as well is just wonderful. Could be my favourite location yet. Managed to rinse the inside up to the boss but I feel that guy is going to take a bit of work.
My one complaint is that none of it is, well, creepy enough. I know they can do spooky locations. I mean, Latria is still terrifying, as is New Londo and Oolacile. Most of Bloodborne gives me the willies. It's like, Elden Ring is almost creepy and certainly this location should be but somehow it just...isn't. Don't know if it's the music that just doesn't quite feel apt, or the enemies, or what. A bit disappointed.
Very cool though, and the aesthetic rocks regardless.

Yes, I think the woods are really creepy and very well done but the house, less so.
In other news, I’ve spent 20mins farming for an Eclipse greatshield that I already have.

I'm sorry user Loto but it takes at least one hour of farming for things you already have to join club stupid.
You will have to try harder next time.
A couple of examples of mine so far;
Redoing the whole of subterranean shunning grounds to get the fingerprint greatshield when I already had the grace right above where it was located.
Spending ages trying to remember how to get to mogh so I could kill to begin the dlc and then realising I had already killed him. Went the full long way trying to remember how to use the lift of rold and everything.
Putting my great sword through an NPC at a grace because I put the pad down.

I've managed to fuck up an NPC quest so far because he asked for something to show him light and erm, I gave him the opposite. Then watched him die.
Whoops.

Ha. I'm just finding out that I also ruined an NPC quest line, as I did exactly the same, but never found the correct item.
I did get a weapon... that I haven't looked at.

I know. It's fucking nuts. I mean it's still playable obviously but my sweet lord I'd never stop playing it if it was 60fps and a higher res. Dark Souls 3 got one. Same fucking engine (and version of engine pretty much, I mean surely, given how close they released). There's blatantly demand for it so what. The actual. Fuck.

But I did! Bloodborne is the only game I'm actually good at!
I say good. I believe the appropriate term would be "not a complete embarrassment".

Huh, there's a second Dancing Lion. And it spawns adds. And if you think of the enemy you would least want harassing you while you're in a boss fight... yes. It's those.

The amount of stuff they've managed to pack into this is crazy, the only areas that have felt somewhat empty so far were the deep southern part Jagged Peak/Cerulean Coast (although CC does have a locked spot that seems to be tied to story progression and will likely be important and even they were a spectacle to behold and have bosses, secrets to find... Optional dungeons and secrets aplenty (last night's highlight, fighting a giant fuck-off red bear in an otherwise nondescript forest up northwest) , stunning vistas and legacy dungeons, a map that's much more complex than it seems... It's Elden Ring all over again but distilled into a more focused package, DadFE and I trading location info, hints and tricks as we discover them (although I'm afraid I am running towards the point where I'll have caught up to his exploration and it'll be mostly me dropping the hints ). Any BS on bosses aside, if you liked Elden Ring at all Shadow is an easy sell even at this asking price. And the handholding EG was worried about is minimal and completely skippable, heck I still have at least three areas I have no clue how to get to!
