It’s an interesting comparison as Elden Ring is a compelling mix of story telling, visual design and wonderfully honed gameplay loops and Witcher 3 is fucking dog shit.

This is SO dense. Unbelievable how much they have crammed in here. The map has such verticality. It’s insane.

We don't slander Witcher 3 here. Also, I must have missed the compelling story telling part in Elden Ring

These worlds are incredible. I was heading somewhere that I missed but on the way I saw some bats flying below me so I thought I’d have a look. Multiple horse jumps and secret pathways later I’m on a totally new area of the map that I didn’t know existed! Was about 3 graces sites long to find this new region so I’ve put that on pause and now back to where I was heading ages ago.

The results are in - I’ve taken a chunk off the ball part of the ball-and-socket shoulder joint. The doctor said it was a very unusual fracture to get, so bonus points for novelty I guess. I’m in a sling, and they said to wear it as much as possible but I can still take it off while I’m sitting down. And my hand still works fine so… game on I guess! So it turns out… holding a controller right up near the chest, just under the chin, with one arm in a sling? Totally works. Not just tolerable, actually no detriment. Phew! I’ve been exploring a certain castle this evening, and I agree about the verticality- I’m getting quite lost in branching paths, v confusing. I found a key and then opened a shortcut with a lever and still don’t know what the key was for. And the mobs here are going down easily so I figure I’m on the right path for now.

Rellana is a brilliant boss fight, but her health pool with two summons is insane. She's easier solo I reckon. She's fucking awful solo, her attacks are ridiculously frame trappy and will hit you even if you dodge them because of how the combo strings are timed, she is impossible to flinch and still has a buttload of health. Both remembrance bosses so far have been F tier for me. I've had to just stagger spam both to get past solo. What build do you have, because my STR build staggered her in like four hits.

For once I’m happy to say the later areas are more beautiful and interesting than the starting section.

I take everything back. This is fucking incredible. After an amazing journey to get to what I’m going to assume is the hardest optional boss in the game I’ve totally changed my mind. The whole journey was stunning and full of atmosphere and the boss is amazing. Can’t wait until people in here have got to it for the discussion!
Also I think this is one of their best maps ever for seeing where you’ve been and where you might end up later.

That's why I said flinch and not stagger. Different mechanics. She's easy to stagger which is a small mercy for her not reacting at all when you smack her in the face with a +25 great hammer.

Loaded up for the first time earlier, "I'll just have a little wander and then come back tomorrow" he says. Three hours later...only just heading to bed. Don't think I've really done anything of note, tried to explore as much as possible around the first wicker man. Just by going around the edge of the map I can see so many other places to go.
Fought one of the mini bosses seen in the gameplay videos before release, found a smaller catacombs with not much in it. Now having read posts above I'm getting FOMO about missing secret areas. Pretty sure I saw those bats mentioned and horse jumped to a talisman but nothing else. Guess it could be different place with bats.
Haven't found it too hard as yet (Sacred Relic L2 doing a lot of the heavy lifting so far) apart from the very first enemy as I left the first site of grace tearing me a new one (sneaky sneak thing), but I'm very much enjoying this even if feeling slightly overwhelmed about the size of the map.

Ahhh I’ve finally gone to the starter castle you have all been talking about. Beat moon boss first time but I can see why people struggled if they came here first!! Those attacks are crazy and that bs triple moon attack.

Yeah I've found most enemies in the DLC have extremely high poise but do stagger fairly easily.

From are Looney Tunes, the game world is insane, just looking at all the stuff that I can't figure out how to get to.
Nobody makes these games like they do.

Right bed time! I think I’ve just got to the final area of the dlc. I still have two nail optional bosses I need to go back to and there are two small areas left on the map where I haven’t worked out how to get to just and what looks like another small castle where I’m not quite sure yet how to get there. Great stuff though! I think my attack level is 8 or 9 and my horse and summon are 7. No idea what the cap is.

Sad everyone went to sleep, was really enjoying this thread when it was active earlier. I bought ER for my series x, which I no longer have, so I can't partake in the DLC shenanigans and have been living vicariously through you all

Did a fantastic, tense section earlier that felt more tomb raider than Elden Ring. Yikes

Yes indeed and the way there. Only tried about 4-5 times but it thought I come back when stronger.

Yeah, the worlds they build are superlative. I did a loop last night, from the starting area and up and around, all the while being able to catch views off fire dude wandering about and glimpses of places I’d visit later, and then, at the end of that section, wondered what was down a drop and, oh- it’s the starting area and I just picked up that thing I was wondering how I’d get to all those hours ago. And I know it’s easy to gush, but I genuinely think the souls “gamble” mechanic From honed is one of the most impactful innovations in gaming of, well, the last three console generations.

"unable to summon cooperator"
and
"oh you don't have the right, you don't have the right, you don't have the right"
AAARRGGHH!!

peacemaker Did you kill the other dragons and talk to an NPC on the way up? If you do, you can summon him and he's an absolute tank.

I only killed the ancient one just before the end, not the one before. Can’t remember if I spoke to this npc. Update: I just googled it. I needed to kill the two before the ancient one. Hopefully I can go back and do that then.

Those attacks are crazy and that bs triple moon attack. It’s idiotic, the spiritual successor to the suicide bomb in ninja gaiden. And, yeah, I think if you were trying to solo it you’d want a strength build. All the bosses poise through everything I throw at them to the point that if they are attacking the mimic tear, they just shrug off our combined attacks like they aren’t happening and reposition themselves to attack me. Moon Knight tanked TWO simultaneous RoBs when I was fighting it yesterday. I couldn’t believe it. The weird thing is, the rest of the DLC is (so far) not actually very hard. I’ve barely died out in the field to the point that I’m messing about with the new Baki Poison Hand (it’s really fun. Worth a look if you’re scaled into arcane) while exploring.

Yeah just go back later. I found her at lvl 8/9 attack and she also gives 260,000 runes so she is meant to be nails. There’s a way more mental boss coming up that has so many crazy relentless attack that ignores your attacks like you mention. Luckily it is weak to blood loss and that’s my build but still to kill it took about one hour and required mimic and npc summon.
I find the summons just give you the time to actually heal. Solo there just isn’t windows to heal against bosses like that.

She’s dead, it was just stupid. Which is how I’m feeling after every boss encounter, tbh. In open play, the game is unparalleled but getting to a boss isn’t an end-of-the-journey achievement anymore, it’s just a brief pain in the arse until you can get on with the fun stuff.
I think I was L4 attack but my ashes are 6, so the mimic tear is carrying me hard.

The former is the one thing I did look up about the DLC while preparing to start, because I wanted to make absolutely sure I had access to the Martial Arts (and then the other one was in the comments section ) Since I mentioned it, for anyone looking to try Martial Arts, someone did mention that the one in my spoiler may be missable if you progress too far. I'm not sure how far "too far" is, I didn't look that much up, but if anyone's interested it might be worth trying to get it early, just in case.

Uh… no, I don’t think so? No martial arts as I know of yet but that might make this more spicy. I found this in the well eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Poisoned+HandAnd if you use it with the mushroom crown and the poison damage talisman, poison pops like the white hood and blood damage talisman combo.
