Fucksake, I’m in A&E awaiting an x ray because I fell on my shoulder while ice skating with my daughter at a birthday party this morning. Hope I can still hold a controller later. Alternatively, some streamers play Elden Ring one handed, right?? hope your recovery is swift. i've seen someone on twitch kill Malenia with a dance mat controller, you can try that. |

The results are in - I’ve taken a chunk off the ball part of the ball-and-socket shoulder joint. The doctor said it was a very unusual fracture to get, so bonus points for novelty I guess. I’m in a sling, and they said to wear it as much as possible but I can still take it off while I’m sitting down. And my hand still works fine so… game on I guess! Forgive me but fucking hell. Is that going to need surgery? |

Hopefully no surgery needed, but I’ll know more after fracture clinic on Monday. I couldn’t lift it past horizontal, so there may be a rotator cuff injury too. But all hopefully manageable with healing and then physio.
Anyway I don’t want to threadjack any more, I’ll probably take any further injury talk over to the parenting thread or something.

DadFE mostly healthy having the time of his life bashing his head against this and that, and meanwhile I'm seething with this farking cough* that's already made me vomit once last night (would have been twice if I'd eaten breakfast this morning) like  *by far the worst part of all this btw, everyone has a painkiller or five somewhere in the house for the fever but for some reason we have nothing for coughs |

So many areas in this game are from bloodborne. I’m now in the 3rd section that is like it’s taken straight from it.
Finally beat a sub boss, nails. 20,000 runes. A bit early I beat a boss with no damage taken, crazy easy 150,000 runes.

Ignored the Lion and went off to Castle Ensis. Feels like this is probably the intended first path to take. Took out the boss there without too much difficulty, although some of the attacks are nuts moon lobbing in particular Managed to rush her down whilst she was transitioning to the second phase, so avoided the nastier attacks altogether. Bleed definitely helped, as did my mimic. Took a little detour after taking out that boss to fully upgrade my mimic. It was only +4 and held its own, but sometimes would go down quickly, particular when area of effects kicked in. Needed to grab three of the upgrade materials to get it to +10, so didn't take too long. Edit - on bosses bullshit levels, I've fought 4 real bosses (castle Ensis, the lion, Yoda wannabe and the mausoleum near the start) and only the lion have I thought was bullshit (and is the only one I've given up fighting). Really, really liked the others. |

Yeah, it doesn't help that some of the trash is overtuned as well, makes the exploring a bit more stressful than I like.

Beat the cover boss. Half a milli in runes and some nice items. As always with bull shit bosses the time I won it didn’t do one or two of the main bs second phase moves. Also I should have probably left and come back when my attack and defence was higher but I’m stubborn. Think it took me one hour but I feel five years older via the rage I was getting.

They all seem to have a lot of health, and the scudatree mechanic means you can’t really over level to make it (much) easier. There’s probably a couple of balancing patches needed yet, but calling the wah-bulance is part of the experience in From games. I love it |

Which direction have you all gone? Sounds like I’ve missed some early bosses and ended up in this hell hole of crazy bosses. There’s at least two that keep getting mentioned that I haven’t come across.

Rellana I basically wasted an hour because I took the npc summon in with my mimic. Couldn’t learn her because of the ensuing chaos. Spent the next half hour actually just learning her and she was great in the end. Pontiff meets Fume with a sprinkle of artorias. |

It’s certainly, er meaty. I think I’m going to farm the buff stone things for a bit before getting really stuck in.
I think I maybe stealth these new areas too much- every bit is scooting around the very edges and working my way in carefully. I rarely just charge down any central path and see the key moments, views etc as the designers probably intended.
