First days play done and I have to say I think they have overtuned the incoming damage, so many trash mobs can 2 shot you and a lot of them can do it in one combo.
Every point I have gained today has been spent on vigor and it's still not enough to stop the 2 shots. It's a shame as it's a lovely place to explore but constantly having to redo bits due to quick combos that 2 shot you is frustrating. Weird thing is it's not all of the mobs but there are sections of it.
4 bosses dead so far though which is a bonus, although I think maybe only one is critical path.

That’s why I’m glad I have Melanias blade to +10 as its special attack deals with all mobs. It either kills them or stun locks them. On the things that it does not work on I’ve pulled out mohg spear +10 and that special has dealt with them. As you say though if I’ve miss timed the attack or not kept an eye on my stamina it can get you instantly killed. |

Maybe I need more stacks of that buff or something, I'm at +2 at the moment for me and +4 for my summon. Will try and have a look at Reddit without hitting any major spoilers.

If you’ve beaten 4 bosses you are comfortably ahead of me. I’ve beaten one main boss, one roaming boss and that boss in the tomb right at the beginning of the game and when I quick this morning after around 3 hours of gaming I was +3 and +4. So maybe you missed some of the upgrade items.

Guess I'm not very far, as I've only encountered one boss, the one in the tomb. Always enjoy those simple human fights over the big screen filling bosses. Went down fairly easily. Helps that I have been using the Great Stars that seems stagger pretty much everything.
Not so much luck against the big fire boi roaming about the fields. Assumed that would be a boss, but maybe it will be like some of the other giants and there will be a few of them. No idea how you supposed fight it with that fiery big stomp attack.
Faught a couple of named enemies too, if people are counting them as bosses.
In the dungeon now and reached the first shortcut. Definitely has that delicious classic Soulsborne level layout that we all love. Also looks really gorgeous, as does the open world area.

I wasn't counting them as bosses but I've just found one as who may as well be. Logged off after being killed by him 5 times, will pick it up tomorrow.

I definitely need more of those things judging by Reddit. Should be able to get to level 4 quite easily and I think I should be on about 6 or 7 at the point I am at.

I've been using Ruins Greatsword and it has been fine so far. The Ashes have been great for the 3 or 4 bosses I've done and the mimic for extra measure where applicable. Just in case there were any other strength builds going about.

There should be a symbol in the bottom left of the screen when you can summon.
You need to have the ashes that you want to summon equipped to a quick slot and not the bell just in case that's what you have

Yeah, I have. I’m in the room with the blackgaol knight and when I try to use the ash my guy just roots around in his pocket.
Maybe I can’t summon for that fight randomly? That is odd though.

Honestly, I'm shocked you've done so many bosses at +2 on the main one. I'm at +4 after just one side boss and one remembrance boss. I'm finding a decent number of these things just being relatively thorough on the routes to stuff. |

It is indeed great to be back- always my fave pleasure in gaming exploring Fromsoft environments for the first time.
I “cheated” and used my level 160 Palladian dude, some maxed faith weapons and spells, and it doesn’t feel too hard at all, though I’ve only been running around exploring he first area or two so fully expect to eat those words. I can see coming back with a squishy magic character or something being much more of a challenge.
Feels bloody massive \o/

Argh... Reached what must be the first critical boss dancing lion Know how I mentioned that I prefer human bosses over the big screen filling ones... Yeah, still hold to that. Can't keep track of what the hell this guy is doing and just flailing around hoping not to get hit. 5 or 6 attempts and got him down below half health once, but far more by luck than anything else. Was finding this all fairly manageable up until this guy. Think I'm going to go back to the opening area and explore a bit more there. |

Yeah, that's what I was doing. Bizarre - I was putting the first tag before stuff, then stuff, then the close tag, and for some reason it was just immediately adding the close tag after the start tag. Weird. I wonder if it's because I was putting a line break in after the tag or something. Here's an attempt at a list of what I've found so far... again.
- 2 at the church immediately south east of the start
- 1 from the pot head enemy east of scorched ruins
- 1 at the crossroads
- 1 at the npcs outside Belurat
- 1 behind some rubble in by the tower with the big spider things in Belurat at the Miquella cross
- another pot enemy near prospect town
- 1 outside castle ensis
- and another inside
There we go that did it. I guess if you put a line break right after the spoiler tag it fucks it. |

I’ve faffed about in the starting area all evening. Haven’t done a single boss yet, I’ve just been messing with a new STR weapon to see if it beats Heavy Great Stars for pure damage. It does. Black Steel Greathammer +25 does more damage than Heavy Great Stars +25, when imbued with Holy (Order’s Blade). It doesn’t have Bleed but it does have an extra Holy attack with the guard counter, so on balance I reckon it wins when also using a shield |
