Definitely had enough of the end-bosses now! Made my way to Radagon/Elden Beast and clearly my katana has met it's match. Respecced to str/faith to try out some of the big sword options instead and seem to be able to take out Radagon now fairly easily (blasphemous blade!) but the giant floating slug thing I can't even get hits on. What a silly end boss... Any suggestions for killing the fucker? Since you respecced to Faith... Any chance you have an Envoy's Longhorn? You can farm it from its users in the Haligtree branches if you don't, and its Weapon Art deals some major damage even past its humongous Holy resist, let me see if I can find our video of the kill for reference (you can just use Blasphemous Blade on Radagon like normal). Pest Threads also works well, much like the Longhorn it fires a lot of projectiles that shred big body bosses like Elden Slug Faith also gives access to miracles, with Lord's Divine Fortification taking the bite out of their attacks (and also affecting your summon, if cast close enough) and multiple healing spells as an alternative to your flask

f00b_inc Got it! www.xbox.com/play/media/QF8CL599DPWe're also using a Sacred +25 greatshield in the clip (best shield to go for is the Haligtree Crest Greatshield, with 98.75 Holy resist when Sacred +25) and Boiled... Crab, was it? as an item to increase physical damage negation, sold by Blackguard Big Boggart once he moves to Altus. That last one is not overly necessary though, just helps do some audacious things like us standing in the middle of that chaos around the middle of the video, tooting away

I didn’t use any of the weapon arts or spells when I played it, which makes me wonder even more if I should play it again
I bonked everything with a sword and it worked fine
As I always do I saved nearly all my consumables for the endgame so had all that crap left at the end untouched
Memory is hazy but I think the only thing I used a bunch of was the boiled crab stuff because you could just keep buying it. Got me through the game those crabs

Thanks for the other tips guys - will also try pest threads

EB is 40% resistant to fire/lightning/magic and 80% resistant to Holy. It’s immune to every status - sleep, bleed, you name it
I think some of the spells, like swarm of flies have a built in stagger but really you want to concentrate on Physical damage and look to maximise it. Incantations like Golden Vow (20% damage boost with damage negation) and Flame Gimme Strength (15% boost?) are extremely valuable Damage negation (esp holy & physical) are great too. Find your crab meat seller and stock up - it’s worth it
I think it’s a shitty battle with some cheaty RNG that as someone here said, could have been made a lot better with Torrent. So it goes. You feel like you’re chasing a fart at times and getting nowhere, but be patient and chip away and it dies eventually. At least one of the boss weapons lives up to its name…

Oops got too excited - beat the Elden Beast! Whoop! Been a while I've had such a sense of accomplishment from finishing a game. Slightly regret not finishing it on release when everyone else was going through the same pain but in a way without being able to summon forumites for help I've had to push through on my own which has probably increased the atmosphere/frustration in equal measure.
I do still think (and I think I've seen a few posts saying similar) that it feels a bit of a slog in the latter stages - the last few bosses were real stumbling blocks. Now I feel like I could go back through those areas and smash them up. I feel like I wasn't under-levelled though so perhaps I should have re-specced earlier to take on certain bosses that might have smoothed over some of the end-game bosses.
I'll wait to see thoughts on the DLC before I jump right back in next week as I'm not sure I can handle another 50 mini-god bosses right now. I could quite happily restart or even check out NG+ though and my recent respec to STR/FTH means I've got all these shiny new swords & axes to try. Katanas did start to feel a bit samey!
Thanks for all the assistance chaps! What a game. I went for the Ranni ending for what it's worth since I spent so long following that questline.
Edit: Oh I beat EB with my blasphemous blade + pest threads and I think I got a bit lucky with his AOE attacks hitting my mimic instead of me. Didn't really feel like skill tbh. Whatever I'll take it!

So, the dlc then. Out on 21st June. Everyone getting it?
I'm trying to work out if I need to complete the base game first. And I haven't played it for months so won't have a clue what's going on.
I can't even remember what bosses are left or how far through I am.
I'm wondering if it would be easier to start a new character but if thr dlc is level restricted, that might not be a good idea.
What's everyone else's plans?

Hiya Quaddy - good to see you. I’m definitely getting it, I’ve got 3 characters at different stages of the endgame. To access the DLC, you need to have beaten Radahn in Caelid and Mohg at the blood palace place. You could check your map and see if you’ve got the Graces or the inventory for the boss souls.
I don’t know what to expect and I’m trying to keep spoiler free, but it sounds like a steep challenge regardless of level. There’s a few YT vids knocking around of early powerful builds and key items. I think I used one for Bloodhound Fang as I hadn’t played in months. You soon get back into it 👍

So malenia. Got to her fine at launch tried her 2-3 times then saw YouTubers struggle for days with rage so never bothered. Was with a friend yesterday in the pub and he said just use mohg spear and your mimic. Oh yeah so with that she is one of the easiest bosses in the game. I think the only boss I know off now that I haven’t beaten is the secret lightening dragon thing in the final area of the game.

I rinsed this with four different builds, but it’s been, what, two years and I’m actually a bit nervous about trying to get back into it. Think I’ve beaten mohg with all the characters but I’d better fanny around in the low level areas for a few hours before anything else ahead of next Fri 😬

Funnily enough, beating Dragon Lord Placidusax and trading the Remembrance in for Dragon King's Cragblade makes it possible to completely cheese Malenia with a stunlock. It's disgusting. (Funny though)

Secret dragon boss dead. Again mohg spear op for the W.
Melania katana is brutal. The ash of war melts most enemies.

So, the radahn you're on about, it's that the main radahn where you're on torrent and all the summons go in and twat him in a massive beach type area? If so, I've done him. I don't think I've done mohg though, but I could be confusing that with maliketh. I.e., fuck knows. I know how to get to mohg, as I definitely remember battling my through those creepy caves to get to him. Just can't remember if I did him or not. Probably not. I do remember that I still have rivers of blood, and apparently he doesn't like blood attacks so what I guess I could do, is load it up, work out how to play again and then promptly fall off some cliffs to get back into the swing of things again and then check inventory If I've done him or not. If not, can you summon for him? I've got an upgraded mimic but not sure what level

Does everyone realise this new dlc is like sekiro in regards to increasing your level? . You have to beat bosses to get items to lvl up. So when you enter the area it doesn’t matter if you lvl 150 or 100 you are the same power.

Yeah but what I was interested in knowing is, can a level 1 char go there and kill, get items and level up ok, or do you need to be at a certain point to survive.
I.e., like the horse wanker at the beginning of the first area to remind you to go away and come back later

Well you’d need to be a reasonable level to access it as you need to kill the boss who rides the tiny horse and triggers the comet and kill mohg lord of blood. There is no lvl criteria. So amazing players could get there low lvl but most players would have to be reasonably high lvl but once you’re in the new area it’s sekiro levelling

quadfather - yeah, you’ve done Radahn then. Mohg has a grace site in his room if you’ve done him but he’s not far from Mogwyn midpoint - just up a lift from the worshipping Albinauriics. You can summon for him. He has an annoying triple incantation attack when he calls ‘NIHIL’ and shreds your health. It can be countered with a physick - maybe look it up as a bit complicated Good luck mate

I'm sure your regular rune level carries over and has an impact, I mean you don't only increase damage with them, but also health and endurance etc. From what I understand, there's just one more system on top of it.
I guess maybe it's a secondary upgrade system similar to how you upgrade weapons? Levelling and weapon upgrades don't replace each other, but they synergise. That's how I imagine the SotE system is like.

The comet azure one-shot build is quite fun, I used it to help half a dozen people beat Mohg last night, but it has one key weakness: the boss taking a step to the left/right.

Maybe I should get back into my main character again then

@quaddy - there's no way you'll beat hime at low level - he's a tough enough boss of a fairly high level area. He's not Malenia level, but a low level character will just get shredded in there

Can't remember what level but I'd guess around 50-80 or something in that window at a gues. Haven't played for months!

Also, a quick Google recommends level 100+ for the dlc -
Start the DLC at Level 100 for a very challenging experience. Start the DLC at Level 120 for a challenging but balanced experience. Start the DLC at Level 150 for a slightly easier experience.

Where does google gets its info? As the director himself said lvl did not really matter too much so long as you were able to beat those bosses.
I think my character hit 150 yesterday after beating the dragon. My secondary character that is about 3/4 through the game is about lvl 95.

They set the previewers at 150, and they said it felt fairly easy. They they only got 3 hours though, and they were Souls vets used to doing silly hard modded runs, so take from that what you will.
