Yeah there’s plenty of unintentional comedy. I still snort-laugh when I smack a soldier while he’s halfway through blowing his stupid trumpet to call his mates. Every single time.

You haven't seen comedy until you've beaten a dragon that's been chilling beyond time itself with a bubble-blowing trumpet ( JonFE do we still have that link somewhere?) Or until a goat summons the power of Thor by rolling at you, idk

I actually meant Placidusax (this one ain't no dragon), but that works too (holy shit, that's the damage we dealt to something with 80% Holy resist? That trumpet's busted )

Either I’m missing lots of it, or the Capital’s not so bad as I remember it. Bungled into the Godfrey fight and did him with my boy, Oleg who laughs in the face of bosses whilst twirling his twin greatswords It was a beautiful moment.
Oh fuck, forgot about Lobster town, down under.
Wish me luck. 😬

I’ve finally made it to the academy proper with my dex sorcerer- after doing That Detour at the bottom that involves an abductor virgin. Really enjoying mixing up offensive spells and melee, I dabbled in offensive incantations in the last playthrough, but mainly used them for buffs because they seemed more expensive and slower to use in the middle of a fight.
Particularly like the “backstab” shard, which is great for hitting enemies from cover or when they’re in cover, and the starlight which is MUCH better than the crappy lantern. Also I’ve switched from the Nightrider Flail to the Icerind Axe, which is mega quick, and it’s fun to freeze chumps rather than bleeding them for a change.

Right, well with the DLC fast approaching I'm back in the Lands Between. However, I decided to buy it on Steam so I'm currently playing through the whole game again on a new save. Plan is to have a character ready on PS, Xbox and PC for any jolly co-operation going on as we all know that the launch window of a new From game is the absolute best time for multiplayer shenanigans. Gone with a basic bitch strength build and the Claymore this time to keep things simple. Might branch off into some complementary sorceries later.
Rinsed Altus Plateau and just retrieved a certain item for Ranni from Nokron. Now scumming it farming runes in Mohgwyn Palace like the filthy casual I am.

Bandai Namaco's Elden Ring April Fools' joke was very silly, but had me giggling probably more than it should have.

They’re on extremely dangerous ground, talking about ring expansion on Twitter. They should have gone for a safer joke, like a reference to those hilarious rolling goats, eh?

Right I think I have cleared out a decent chunk of Altus and now making my way towards/up Mt. Gelmir. I'm trying to up my INT to make use of a better staff than the meteor one I've been using since almost the beginning. Back on the Moonveil but now have a couple of extra choices and keep attempting to dual wield with very low levels of success!
Feels like the stress levels are rising again after feeling quite comfortable on Altus. Bit worried about the much commented increase in difficulty as I approach the later stages.
Also went back earlier to complete the shaded castle - fuck that swamp shit (again).

Dual wielding katanas is great. You just have to get used to L1 being an attack button instead of block.
Jump L1 is redonkulous damage

Great roll attack too. Probably the best reason for picking the Samurai class, being able to have two Uchigatanas at the beginning of the game.
I really should do NG+ just so I can have two Nagakibas

Jump L1 is redonkulous damage I'll see your jumping R1 katanas and raise you dual Godskin Peelers. Those things hit four times in a single press and have ludicrous bleed buildup. Buff with seppuku and wonder how the hell they escaped the nerfbat

Grave Scythe with Spinning Strikes. Use Mimic to distract, close to melee range and L2 to melt boss's health bar.
Twinblades and katanas are good but I wanted to try something different this game

Has anyone actually done the Sellen Seluvis? quest?
I’ve got one mage who says he’s Sellen in a dungeon, another who looks the same tied up in another dungeon and I’m not sure where Seluvis is.
Very confusing for a simple sort

Has anyone actually done the Sellen Seluvis? quest? I’ve got one mage who says he’s Sellen in a dungeon, another who looks the same tied up in another dungeon and I’m not sure where Seluvis is. Very confusing for a simple sort Full questline is on the wiki in her page as usual, but broadly speaking Sellen's questline needs you to: Find two sorcerers, Azur and Lusat, and gain spells from them (one is accessible at any time in the Mt. Gelmir area, the other is in a cave in Caelid, behind a barrier you open with the key Sellen gives you after finding the first one)
Kill Radahn, then return to Sellen, who'll tell you to meet her in the Witchbane Ruins in Weeping Peninsula (IIRC the other Sellen you found). Go there and talk with her (she'll give you an item), then go talk to Radahn's attendant Jerren back at Redmane Castle and exhaust his dialogue
Back at Witchbane Ruins, Jerren should have killed Sellen. Exhaust his dialogue again, then teleport to the Three Sisters area, find a basement behind an illusory floor and give the puppet Sellen there the item she gave you to revive her (this body is Seluvis' entire contribution to the questline) There's more after this, but the post is getting long as it is (and you might have to check the wiki anyway, I'm already being vague here ) And Seluvis doesn't have much to do with Sellen's questline apart from what I mentioned in the spoiler, if you've been told to meet him it's for another questline entirely

Thanks mate. I think I’ll need to reroll a new character as I’ve advanced other things. Cheers 👍

Damn, Fire Giant didn't take long this time. I think I bled him 4 times, that would be 60% of his health just from that. The boss fight was almost tolerable!

My daughter has got her character to Malenia, although she’s under levellled. Her mimic chewed an entire waterfowl, which meant M was back at full health. The fight is as brutal as I remember it; hope there’s nothing as hard in the DLC, but I bet there is.
My character is at the Lift of Rold, but I’m trying to resurrect Nepheli’s quest, so not progressing up to mountains yet.

The fight is as brutal as I remember it; hope there’s nothing as hard in the DLC, but I bet there is. According to Miyazaki, there will be (kinda), although still optional. "And again, to our more hardcore players, they will find optional bosses who have been tuned in a similar way to the likes of Malenia, who I'm sure you remember from the base game, who are not crucial.
"They're not crucial to completion of the DLC, but they are an optional extra to help challenge for those who are so inclined.
"That said, there may not be another boss on exactly the same level as Malenia, but we feel like this is somewhere that we've paid close attention to, this level of challenge and offering that same level of freedom. And we hope that players are able to blossom in the Land of Shadow in the same way that they were in the lands between.
"Actually, I want to redress that. It's not the fact that it's only a lesser level to Malenia, but we have prepared bosses on that with that similar mindset within the DLC area, ones that will challenge the player and hopefully be as memorable as Malenia was."Not quite sure what to make of this, if they are supposed to be as hard as Malenia, or actually a little less. The phrasing "tuned in a similar way" concerns me. I just beat her again yesterday, and I think for the most part she would be one of the best boss fights in the game. But to turn a regular difficulty boss into the hardest one, they just gave her two bullshit attacks and health regen. Imo this "tuning" is just cheap, but I guess that's in line with a lot of other instances where in order to raise difficulty ever more, they increasingly resort to cheapness. I wish they found better ways, but according to Miyazaki it seems we'll just get more of this.

Sadly I don’t remember Malenia very well as I beat her second attempt so not memorable for me at all
I honestly don’t remember a lot of the bosses as there were very few I fought more than once
Probably need to play it again
