Elden Ring - gamertags on first page

I think we should all mention our first death in this, and what the circumstances were around it

If the first 5mins are the same then 75% of you are going squish very soon.

I'm avoiding all the videos, just trying to get clued up on attributes and classes.
Wondering if Magic or Incantations will be more fun offensively , I thought in earlier videos there were some mad looking spells.

I did once try to do a bow only run of original Dark Souls that was a lot of fun. Managed to reach Four Kings, but my damage output wasn't really high enough and couldn't beat each of them quick enough before getting swamped. I also got a little lucky against big Ornstein, as he got locked into repeating the same ranged lightening attack that I could easily dodge and get a few shots off.

Ranged has always been a bit fiddly in SoulsBorne. No idea if that is something that has been improved in Elden Ring, but could be interesting to see if the open world lends itself a little more to picking enemies off from a distance.

I always carry a bow, but only ever really use it for pulling enemies safely from a distance.

However, I am quite partial to a bit of poison arrow cheese on chaos eaters and the like

Which reminds me, I'm up to the bed of chaos on my ds run. And it can fuck right off.

"Dash forward for the win" should be changed to

"Dash forward, get swiped, reload, get swiped, reload, get swiped, get fucked, turn off"

Also, I don't know about first death, but I reckon Quad will greatly enjoy his time in that floating castle in the thumbnail of that lore video if we can go there

If it is your first SoulsBorne it is probably best to not get too hung up about starting class. It won't really mean too much after the first couple of hours. It just dictates your starting weapon, armour and stat allocations. I don't know the details for Elden Ring, but normally some will start at a higher level, which really just means they are slightly less flexible initially. In reality though, it only really matters if you are going in with something specific in mind and are looking to min/max.

The Deprived (or whatever they are going to call it here) is the most flexible, as you start at the lowest level and with a completely spread of stat points. This means you need less souls to start leveling up. You don't get any armour though and crap shield, so have to be able to dodge.

Best bet for a first timer is probably to go with one with higher health or better armour, so you can take a few hits early on. I assume Samurai will likely be okay on those and will have a few points in dexterity, for the faster weapons. Sometimes the slower heavier strength weapons are better for newcomers, as you are less likely to try to squeeze in too many hits, but depends on your style. (Again, not read up on classes, so could all be wrong.)
