Didn't watch all of it because it was boring. Agree with the comments about the open world - not looking good. One of the things I like about From games is slowly exploring every corner of the game and going toe to toe with every enemy I come up against, I don't want to travel around on a horse and scout out camps. Way too much use of ranged combat and magic as well. I suppose this could come down to playstyle but not feeling the trailer either way

If nothing else this will be an interesting experiment to see how the grand daddies of this genre handle a game like this in an open world format. I can only imagine it will give some guidance on where you should go. If I'm banging my head against one area what's to stop me from going in another direction and find myself in a worse area for example.
Does anyone know when they send out confirmations of anyone who was able to get into the beta this month?

Miserable fuckers, I thought it looked fantastic. AI looks a bit unresponsive but that's the only thing that concerns me. Plenty of time yet as well.

Looks fucking great to me, happy it's not just DS4. As for the Open world part, let's see, the incredible feel and adventure of the BoTW open world maybe isn't obvious in videos so I'll keep an open mind.

Oh and there's crafting now, because it's an open world

Weird coincidence- I was looking at ring videos and watching things get smashed in bed this morning.

That looks... like an open world game from the start of the previous generation of consoles? Looks ain't everything that's for sure, and lucky for them eh?

I thought it looked ace as well. Big map, lots to explore and maybe mini sandboxes that you can take on from different directions, stealth or all out.
Quaddy should be happy; looks like you can survive walking off a cliff. 😂

The bit in the woods looked pretty awesome to me. And I get the concerns about open worlds but I used to enjoy just tooling around levels in the previous game so I’m pretty excited about this.

I mean we can't really criticise them for the looks, it's not as if they've ever had a technically good looking game.

It's not really the graphics I have a problem with, more the environment itself which looks dated as fuck. Bit yeah I'm sure it'll be great.

Yeah. Shite as it *looks* on a technical level, it's not as if that set Breath of the Wild back too much.

Yeah, Blue Point's remake of Demon's Souls is beautiful - way better looking than Elden Ring, for sure. It doesn't matter though, as no-one will give a single shit once they're immersed in that new world, I'm guessing.
We know what From's strengths are - and they've never been the graphics.

What will be intriguing is if From drop an absolute clanger on it, like CDPR did with Cyberslump.

My issue with the open world is that, from the trailer, it doesn't look like 'we had a vision for DS in an open world' and more like just filling it with all the usual open world stuff - bandit camps to clear out, horse riding to speed up traversal around empty space, crafting, etc
I've never used a horse in BotW becaus I'd be getting off it every 30 seconds to go and look at something anyway

Genuinely don't understand the graphics comments. Granted I've got shite eyes but it looks amazing.

Genuinely don't understand the graphics comments. Granted I've got shite eyes but it looks amazing. I thought the same TBH. Made me think of all the times When I've been at the top of Sen's Fortress or whatever in Dark Souls and looked at the horizon and wished I could just go and explore the environment. And now I'll be able to

The graphics are fucking dreadful tbh. Ghost of Tsushima on the PS4 looked miles better than this.

The graphics are fucking dreadful tbh. Ghost of Tsushima on the PS4 looked miles better than this. Indeed! And it gets worse, potentially. That was PC footage; you'd imagine the console builds won't be full 4K because if they were, this close to release, they would've used console footage instead.

Except in the gameplay trailer on the most powerful platform it doesn't actually look much like that trailer at all.

Youre right of course. Graphics are everything. There's no way I'm buying this dogshit now. Look at it. It didn't look as good as a different game in a different engine done by a different studio around the same time, give or take a year or so. I'm not buying this. Fucking pac man looks better.
In all seriousness, as has been said, From have never been the forefront graphically. Their games have looked great regardless, but never cutting edge. It's not about that with them though and I don't think their games have ever been sold on their graphics alone.

I said at the reveal trailer that I was disappointed that it almost feels like a step down from the Demons Souls remake. That might seem unfair but it is true. However, the original Demons Souls and every subsequent game weren't technical marvels either but the art direction, environments, enemies etc really propelled it into a good looking game still. Same is true of Elden Ring from what I've seen.

Although I wasn't massively hyped from the trailer I thought it looked good visually.

No they have been sold on their amazingly tight controls and excellent cameras as well. Also on their rock solid frame rates It's a testament to how good the games are when they look and perform pretty poorly and are still so beloved..
