Sadly, it doesn't look like there's going to be a printed guide

It's not even that expensive. With a few reward points on top, it's around d £41 quid.
I look at horizon and that's on 60. That will have to wait.

Aye with shopto credit I got it digitally for £41. Although I would have paid whatever I needed to for it to be fair. I practically throw my money at Miyazaki anyway.

Only 11 quid in my wallet, time for me to buy some PSN credit. Sadly I can't get Shopto.net to work overseas anymore so cdkeys and a piddly 10% off will have to do...

This'll probably sound weird, but some of the footage makes me think of Shadow of the Colossus. Obviously there's a lot more going on, but some of the open spaces have a sort of melancholy atmosphere about them.
I think (hope) it may also turn out to be the game I wanted Dragon's Dogma to be.

I've not watched anything about this and cannot wait. Going Quality build first up as usual so I can try everything then start on the specialist builds in future.

The Deluxe Edition thing looks pretty pointless unless you're into soundtracks, or am I missing something?

There's swamps too. Miyazaki just loves his swamps. I wouldn't be surprised if his next game was just one huge swamp. In it, you control a swamp, and you wield swamps to fight other swamps, collecting different swamps to wear.

Nah, I also got SotC vibes off the videos I did watch, which I’m totally onboard with. On a bit of a media black out now, just going to keep nailing Bloodborne until release. Will be picking this up on PC, as I haven’t yet gotten around to sourcing a PS5. I’m hoping my modest aging hardware can still do it some justice …

I haven't bought a game on day 1 since Borderlands 2 (although I got Subnautica: Below Zero and Hotwheels Unleashed in the first week). If I buy it digitally is it going to unlock at midnight on February 24th into 25th GMT? How does that work?
Just booking the 25th off work now... fingers crossed I won't have any kids isolating off school that day...

Yeah it should unlock at midnight I think but I do know some other games in the past have unlocked at weird times.
If it does unlock then, then I'm planning on having a quick sesh before my morning run and work and then just planting myself in front of it indefinitely when I get home.
Canny wait.

Based on my God of War experience I suspect my Steam key won't be available until 5PM or so. Maybe for the best.

I've never played a game like this in my life (does BotW count??), but loads of people seem to be getting mega-hyped for it so I'm interested. How long would the main campaign likely be in this game? Will it be suitable for a 9 year old? He's plowed 100s of hours into BotW so he's has got staying power for this kind of thing.

I’m not sure it’s that suitable for a 9 year old unless you’re happy with them playing a game where body parts get chopped off.

Depends upon your tolerance for fantasy violence. My boy probably started Dark Souls around the age of 9 and has coped fine with all of them. There's a difference between hacking limbs off fantastic beings compared to pretending to be a terrorist and shooting a ton of innocent people at an airport, but it's a parents call. It will no doubt be more difficult than BotW but if there's one thing I've learned from the boy is that children get good VERY quickly.

You'd be better waiting til it's out and watching some footage I think. Thing about Fromsoft's games of this ilk is that there's quite often a horror element that creeps in there as well, with some darker subject matter also being hinted at. Some of the enemey designs can be a bit much for little people I think, especially now we have higher graphical fidelity.

I'm not sure I'd have the patience as a nine year old. I think BoTW will be considerably more forgiving.

Have you never seen a 9yo grind for levels in Fortnite? They've got nothing BUT patience...

Surprising. I'm sure other From games took longer than that. I wonder if it's 30 hours if you don't get stuck at any point or they're including being shit in that estimation
