Can't remember where I saw it but there's even an area in the network test that is basically something of an homage to Stonefang Tunnels. Mine looking area with enemies only weak to piercing damage.

Wonder if there’ll be a Blightown / Plague Pit type area…? Hope they dial it down so you can still enjoy exploring

I just want some nicely spooky areas. A wee spooky forest or a New Londo Ruins / Oolacile equivalent would be super. Bloodborne aside, they've yet to best those areas in terms of pure dread.

I happened to be in those very dungeons last night. They have zero atmosphere unfortunately and I really am not a fan. The jailers can be a bit sinister when they giggle and shuffle towards you but they are such a fucking pish design (both visually and mechanically) that I have no time for them whatsoever. I actually think the Crucifixion Woods is the creepiest place in DS3, just a shame it's not a huge area.

Oh I quite like them. Unlike a lot of Souls enemies, you can't just get up behind them and backstab. The room at the bottom is a pain though. It's largely responsible for me having an issue with "it's never the game's fault". After clearing out the whole area, I opened the cell with one of those screaming monsters with a cross on their back, ready to fight him, and the fucker literally leapt through the top of the cell wall (nowhere even near the door) landed right on top of me and I was dead before I even knew what happened

Bloodborne managed to terrify me more than most pure horror games in a few places. Like proper "I need a break, I don't know if I want to go on" levels of discomfort. Then again I am a massive wuss when it comes to games.
I think there's an overall pathos and sense of broken wonder to Dark Souls 1 that they haven't quite recaptured since, though it may in part be that it made more of an impression on me, being the first one I played.

Aunt Alison Seemingly you can kite that fucker out to attack the jailers but I've never managed to do it successfully. There's no other way to do that area than painstakingly snipe the twats with a bow. It's a well rubbish room.

Ha, my strategy is to wait where you enter by the bigs rats, run out and kill or damage as many as possible, then run away back to the hole you come in as far as necessary to make the AI leash. Kill the ones that followed you the furthest as they path back, then repeat.
I think it's why I quite like it. There's a lot of waiting around corners for your moment to run out and strike. There's also that zombie twat who pushes you down a level and that enemy waiting for you to run past his cell after the little crystal lizard. It's a bit of a fuck you area

Dark Souls 1 is actually my least favourite. DS2 is clearly the best by a mile but even though I don't think DS3 is all that special, it's much more playable than 1. I think I expected too much from the first one due to its reputation. The bosses are fine but pretty uneven. Most are actually pretty easy and although some of them have good intros or designs, the fights aren't great. Like the toothy dragon or Sif - the actual fight is pretty much you running around stabbing them in the shins while they clip through the camera. Bloodborne did big bosses much better.

I didn't put any value judgements on anything. You're just projecting. Don't blame me because you secretly hate it

This was totally under my radar.
The title misleads. Elden Ring made me think PC RPG or MMO developed in the West, I didn't realise Fromsoft were rebranding Dark Souls so they could squeeze a few more games out.

It's basically Dark Ring.
Which thankfully I do not suffer from any more.

This is a bit like the Dragon's Dogma sequel that a lot of us wanted but never happened.
Horseback travel and combat adds a bit of a Zelda flavor. Unfortunately, grappling, climbing and pinning are not in the Souls DNA so it's not quite Dragon's Dogma, there was nothing like coming up behind a humanoid enemy (even really tough ones that are a pain, grappling and pinning was all about relative size), pinning their arms behind their back and then booting them off a cliff, or your pawns pinning and impeding enemies to give you openings for attacks.

ESRB Rating Can't wait This is an action role-playing game in which players assume the role of a character trying to retrieve a magical ring and become the Elden Lord. From a third-person perspective, players explore environments, collect items, and battle various enemies (e.g., knights, fantastical creatures) in melee combat. Players use swords, spears, axes, arrows, and magic to enemies; combat is highlighted by cries of pain, splatters of blood, and impact sounds. The game includes depictions of gore: collectible items that include severed fingers and tongues; a boss character cutting off its arm; severed arms hanging from a ceiling. During the course of the game, a humanoid monster is depicted partially nude, with scales/scars covering its breast and pelvic regions. The word “sh*t” appears in the dialogue.

The only game I am really looking forward to this year (since I dont believe BotW2 and Metroid Prime or xenoblade 3 are happening this year). I do think the game is going to be relatively easy compared to the other souls games. Honestly, after Sekiro I would not mind one game where things are slightly less difficult. After seeing a bunch of playthroughs of the demo, I find it funny how youtubers are trying to indicate that it is not easier, while all footage proves otherwise. I hope to finally get my brothers to play coop on this game, if not find some people on this forum who are interested on PS5

I'll be there day 1.
From what I played it's not that forgiving, it's really easy to blunder into serious trouble and you easily run out of resources in dungeons

Pretty excited to get this, be really bad at it and give up on it far too early. And then on occasion start it again with full intent to get good at it only to give up again at exactly the same point.

Maybe look at a magic build as it's supposed to be much easier

I've convinced my son to buy it with his Xmas money after he thought it would be too hard. I told him to magic and I'll help with co op when he gets stuck. Who knows he might do better than me as I'm thinking of going as half naked barbarian with duel axes.

My ass-temps are warming up for this one! I didn't get access to the beta trial, haven't read any recent previews or looked at any videos in great detail, so I'll be going into this pretty fresh which is quite exciting.
