I don't think they'll ever get that level of insight again. It's all very vanilla, I would even go as far as to say the site doesn't really have a voice anymore with no real character to the writers just an odd opinion piece here and there that becomes a way for the writer to muse existentially, reviews that vary wildly in quality and content, an endless reliance on repeating other websites content and mining Reddit for news.

They describe the game, the good and bad things about it, and don't go on for thousands of words. I guess there often isn't a score to tell you How Good It Is, but... that's what the review is for. I've seen enough error-riddled IGN shit to last me a lifetime, and the EG reviews are miles ahead of that. They're not perfect, but writing is a pretty fucking hard job. So... give them a break!  |
