I enjoyed hijack, complete bobbins but Elba seems more up for it thank anything I’ve seen him in the last 10 years

Final episode of Silo today and I'm glad to see it's been renewed, not only because it leaves you with questions but watching Rebecca Ferguson for 45+ minutes every week is something I'm happy to do.
Still won't forgive it for the absolutely horrendous science on show in the generator repair episode but that stood out as being fucking stupid in a pretty well thought out show.
Now do I stop myself reading the books during the wait for season 2?

Whizzo I really really wouldn't read the books. 1: because they veer into turgid bollocks all too frequently, and 2: because it does rob the show of a lot of mystery if you know where it's leading. I'm enjoying it, but it's close enough to the first book that it's almost like I'm watching the show for the second time and picking up on all the breadcrumbs the writers are leaving behind about the conclusion.

I keep nearly looking at the wiki page but glad I didnt. I just watched the finale over lunch and it did confound some of my guesses.
My only problem is that I felt it really needed to switch gears in the final third but every episode was kind of the same. She runs about it bit, finds a crumb of info, looks confused, common is rubbish at acting, credits.
But I do see it kind of needed that, so whatever.

Just wrapped up Silo tonight too. Really enjoyed it. Definitely a bit of a languid pace throughout, but it was well enough done and kept up enough mystery throughout it didn’t lose me. Well up for some more.

I just can’t stop thinking about the stairwell set in Big Bang every time they go up and down the Silo

common is rubbish at acting, credits. Hah, he really is. God yes. I've not come across his work before and I've got no idea why they cast him in this. The rest of the cast is packed full of respected pros and then it's like he's won a competition. It's really jaring.

We're only three episodes in, so haven't seen much of him yet. The scene where he tries to give the mayor some pudding was pretty fucking cringeworthy.
I also thought Rashida Jones was a bit rubbish in the first episode, but then I never really rated her in Parks & Rec or anything else she's been in.

Just finished Silo. Good season finale. I was very frustrated with the first episode because it all seemed very inevitable and obvious, but the general execution of the next 9 episodes worked for me, and the finale twists were good despite being telegraphed a bit. I’d probably having been less annoyed with episode one knowing that the twist is that things are actually exactly what they seem.

Well sort of the real twist isn't the outside world really is fucked but "our" silo is just one of dozens of the things. What's going on in those and are they really isolated from each other? Also shit tape is why the suits fail, I thought the oxygen system was deliberately killing the cleaners.

Yeah I also thought the people were being gassed. Tim Robbins deliberately using bad tape to kill them seems a little far fetched frankly, but that’s what they went with. The twist that there’s heaps of silos was great. Presumably they were all meant to be connected via the door at the bottom but things went awry. Presumably the sheriff woman will wave at the next camera and they’ll let her into their Roman Orgy society and draw her into their war with The Pious Cheesemakers silo. This thing writes itself!

Claustrophobia for me. Really hated the first two episodes for the entrapped feeling.

My assumption is that the fake nice view is done to encourage them to pop back and try to clean the camera for everyone else. Or something. The bit I think I missed somewhere was what made that Adventures in Georgia book so important? I feel I’ve missed something, but no idea what.

On your second spoiler, isn't it just because people hadn't ever seen those colours, observed the world that was, etc. etc. ? I didn't get the impression there was anything beyond that - but I could be filling in the blanks having read the books.

They’d never seen the natural world. I’m not even going to spoiler tag that one, it’s inherent from episode one.

When the residents of the silo don't even know what the lights in sky from the image outside are then they clearly don't have any idea. The rebellion and the destruction of all old knowledge has left them utterly clueless.

Ah ok, so I didn’t miss anything. It was the deputy nicking a page and then burning it which made me think I’d missed something important. Guess not then.

My guess is that it is a Matrix type control system to give curious types something to do and work for rather than run around the silo shouting how fucked they all are before throwing themselves off the stairs

They are trying to breed the "curiosity" out of the population no? Make a nice docile Silo via controlling who gets to have kids. Anyway, very enjoyable though the big reveal was as I suspected, though I also thought t's the suit killing them and thought she would pull off the helmet to survive. Looking forward to S2 adventures though if Severance is any indication might be a long wait.

I am hoping S2 does actually feature Some exploration of other Silo's, I'm guessing some will be in better states than others, their one seemed to be OK for food and water but maybe others are on the verge of collapse or complete ghost towns. I'm guessing Tim Robbins can chat to other Silo Head's of IT and may know the score"
Be annoyed if it spends too much time following the adventures of Sheriff shaky hands and Common. Maybe the guy sent to the mines will find something to do, though outside of the camcorder there is not much left to explore mystery wise. Guessing Julia pops back at home via the big door at some point.

Am watching Silo atm and mostly enjoying it. We'll see. It's 7/10 territory currently. Story is very intriguing. But the acting is on the wooden side and the irony of AppleTV looking so sexy on my new telly is that sets and costumes become really noticeable. It takes me out of the show when I notice that a huge metal door is made out of polystyrene or something.

Silo season 2 I’m thinking might even find the other Silos empty and the population of Silo Prime was always meant to expand their population into them. That’s the only way I can explain why no one from other silos ever walked past our silo’s webcam. But if the budget is big enough, we’ll hopefully get other silos with wildly different cultures.

3 days into a 7 day free trial I'm trying to get through as much of the interesting looking stuff as possible. Done Silo and Black Bird.
Bugger me though Severance is NOT what I expected - in a good way.
I'm not necessarily going to be a free trial exploiter but another recommendation or two I might be able start.
