With a familiar face for Arsenal fans.
Thought the first episode was fine, nothing Earth shattering but a solid start.

Just activated an Apple TV+ 3 month trial, and unlike my last trial, Apple have now removed their "auto-renew" toggle in their subscription management options.
Now, if you cancel before the renewal date, you immediately lose access to TV+ and the remainder of your trial.
Additionally, to quote Apple... "To avoid being charged, you must cancel at least one day before each renewal date"
Whether that's one 9-5 working day, 24 hours, or otherwise is unclear. I've had to set a Google calendar reminder to cancel 2 days before the renewal date, just to be safe.
This doesn't seem legal to me. Wasn't there some legislation passed to force companies to make subscriptions clearer and easier to manage, or did I dream that?

It only does it that way on free trials. I keep access to my paid account until it expires if I cancel today.

Useful to know, but I don't think it should matter. It goes without saying that it's designed to trick people into renewing, but it no longer seems like a simple "trick".
No matter how proactive I am about it, there's no way of preventing the renewal without outright cancelling, and even then, I have to do it within the ambiguous "at least one day" time period, which is only mentioned in the small print of an email I happened to fully read.
I just think this is a step too far by Apple, and will catch an awful lot of people out, even if they're organised and try to cancel the day before the trial ends.

Thanks for the heads up, hadn't spotted that on my free trial. All companies are wankers.

I've been absolutely loving Shrinking. Everyone in it has been fantastic and I'll be sad to see it end. I've catched up by now, love it. Do you mean that prospectively or is it confirmed to only last 1 season? Second season has been confirmed.

Ted Lasso finally play Brighton (wearing 20-21 away kit 🤣) this series AFC Richmond has a shirt deal with Nike, which explains the teams they have featured this time (and West Ham because the stadium is impressive from the outside?)

Am I right in thinking Silo is based on the Wool trilogy? They don't actually say in that trailer, only that it's based on a book! Yes. I suppose Wool might not have got much interest as a title... I watch Ted Lasso as my wife and daugher do and there's not many programmes we all watch...but I don't really get it. It's harmless enough...the characters are all like American ideas of what British people should be like. They should play Wrexham and have a sort of IASIP crossover. The Gang Shags Keely.

I *finally* cashed my six month PS5 voucher in to watch Silo and its actually pretty good so far. Amazed/unsurprised to see everything I watched over a year ago when my last trial expired is still in the top 10. It really is light on content.

I'm happy to take a smaller selection of quality shows rather than the mountains of rubbish on Netflix and Prime recently. At least when you start something new on there it's likely to be good.

I dunno about that. You do need filler in your library. There is a reason friends/Big Bang Theory/and so on are the top streaming shows on netflix.
Carefully curated stuff is fine but youre putting all of your eggs in one basket, hoping it will actually be good and that people will engage with it.
Thats said, there is enough good content to make the occasional sub worthwhile but not enough to stay subscribed for long, so I suppose thats the perfect balance.

I’d say over a year it averages about 2 hours a week of content that I’d watch. I guess just that with the normal tv like iPlayer is enough for most people, you just miss out on the other very best stuff that’s on other streaming.

I'm enjoying watching the latest series of Ted Lasso, but has anyone noticed changes in brightness between cuts in the same scene?
It's always during indoor scenes, during a shot-reverse shot conversation... camera A will suddenly become darker, then it'll cut back to camera B, then when it cuts back to camera A it'll suddenly be the correct brightness again.
It's extremely distracting, and initially I thought it was an issue with my TV. It's as if the cameraman had no regard for consistent exposure levels when shooting certain scenes.
I'm watching on an LG CX in Dolby Vision, and it's definitely nothing to do with auto-dimming or the like, because I've turned all that nonsense off in the service menu.

I've just started Ted Lasso (finished s1 last night) and I have to say it's fantastic so far. Wish I started sooner

Yep, same happening here on an LG C1. All the Apple+ programs are a touch on the dark side but ted lasso is the only one that keeps hopping between cuts

I saw it reported elsewhere, with somebody proposing it was likely some encoding issue.

Christ, this new Hijack thing is a load of old bollocks.
It has the decided whiff of something ITV rejected, then for some reason Apple picked it up and chucked some money at it to get Idris Elba on board to play The Worlds Most Convincing Man.

Thinking about redeeming a 5 month trial, I've seen the stuff about cancelling the sub a couple of days before.
My question is if I use the Apple TV app on my Android phone can I cast it to my Chromecast to watch stuff on the TV?

I believe there isn't even an Android app for it. There's one for Android TV but not for phones/tablets.
I just redeemed the recent trial and cancelled auto renewal straight away. You can still use it until the end of the trial period.

If you have a PS5 or Series X, could just watch it on your TV that way.

Saw the advert and thought it looked rather silly. As a film I'd find the idea dull, never mind a mini series.
