Apple TV has had a run of very decent sci-fi, and it's probably the best service for the genre. It's really only been Invasion that was actively disappointing and I still hate watched it to the end.
I just hope they continue to support these series. All have amazing production values and must cost a fortune.
Still not really forgiven Netflix for cancelling The Expanse and Altered Carbon prematurely. At least one of those was somewhat rescued I suppose.

I've finally got around to watching Silo, had it downloaded for a few months now. I started off sceptical but it's slowly burned away pulling me in. Really enjoying it after 4 episodes. I'm not expecting the reveal to be world shattering but I'm a sucker for lore/background that suggests oversized senses of scale. Also have foundation S2 lined up. Comments in here suggest in continues in quality which I'm excited for. S1 was awesome. I read all about the book series after the cliffhanger end of Season 1 of Silo. It's interesting

Even more expensive looking Apple TV SF, set after Godzilla (2014) with some stuff in the past too with Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt playing the same character.

It's interesting I really enjoyed the books, and always thought they'd make a decent TV series if a bit hard to represent visually. The first book, which is most of S1 is the most conventional of the three. Will be really interesting to see how much they decide they have to tinker to make a decent screenplay out of the rest. Without spoilers, the central mysteries are explained in the books in quite satisfying ways (to me at least).

I really shpuld start watching something on Apple TV while I have a free 6months (probably half left). Barely used the channel so far. Some of the scifi stuff looks potentially interesting but not watched any of it yet.

This is why I haven't really started many sci-fi series. I will watch Foundation probably once it becomes clear it will have a defined end. I was on the verge of watching Raised by Wolves and that got fking cancelled. So annoying.

Stiller is a great director (Escape from Dannomora is another one of his if anyone missed it, it’s great).

Might do the same. If only there was a way to automatically skip the parts with the annoying school kids. And the mother with her two annoying kids bits. And the Poundland Elon Musk bits. And the marine who makes the same mistakes constantly bits. It really is quite bad, and not entirely sure why I'm doing this to myself. I love the concept, unoriginal though it is, and the alien_ designs are great, unoriginal though they are. Pretty much just watching to know what the deal is with the aliens and really hoping there's a decent payoff coming. It's quite remarkable just how bad a large percentage of the cast is. It's like they had no money left to hire professionals and went to the local am dram group instead. The script doesn't help, as the characterisation is weak they are mostly cliches. Anyway I get through the episodes by having it on in the background whilst doing other stuff on my laptop after my partner has gone to bed. I only really look up when the Japanese lady is on screen as I have to read the subtitles (plus she's pretty cute). It's remarkable just how little attention is actually required to still be able to follow the plot, which is a production achievement of a sort I suppose. I want the aliens to win.

Its a toss up between the mum and mitski who is the biggest drag. The latter constantly mooning over her girlfriend is just not very interesting and the former is literally the worst in every possible way.
I have been trying to work out if the mum has deliberately been written like that, just an absolutely awful, unlikable person or whether they just totally fucked up the 'lion mother' stereotype but she is just dreadful in every possible way. And the simp who keeps getting his friends killed for her isnt much better, jesus christ.
But yeah, its an easy watch, one you can carry on doom scrolling on your phone through because fuck all happens.

I should absolutely have seen this coming, but I was less than fully whelmed by the finale of Invasion last night. What a colossal waste of 10% of my attention span.

I note this has increased to £8.99/month. Was enjoying my free episodes of The Morning Show (glossy, but interesting enough and now with bonus Jon Hamm)

I just have two accounts and alternate between them so that I always have one that isn't currently subbed and is therefore ready for new offers that existing subs aren't eligible for.

I think that was the last one I used.
Lloyds gave me 12 months of Disney last week.
The only one I pay for is Bezos TV.

Sky just had six months, taking me to two straight years without actually paying anything. Was that by starting new accounts? I had 6 months from PS5 then i think 3 months from Sky a while back, but when i tried to do the latest Sky 6 months free the account page told me i couldn't use more promos
