Hah, I’m glad someone else finally thought that! After some of the reviews on here I thought I was going mad. Utter toss.

Soon as I saw it had Idris in it, I knew it would be gash.
Watched The Servant instead and happy I did.

Any fans of Invasion? The promo for season 2 makes it look quite face paced and energetic but I tried S1 Ep 1 and found it a struggle. I thought S1 was pretty wank. Absolutely glacial pace and stuffed with really bad characters doing dumb stuff. Can’t wait for S2.

Finished Hijack last night. What a load of shit. I thought Apple were going for HBO levels? This wouldn’t have been out of place on ITV or Channel 5. First episode had some promise but it just gets less and less believable as it goes in and by the end pretty much nothing any character does makes sense. Acting is woeful for the most part as well. Total waste of time. I shared similar thoughts in the ratings thread. The way they just abandoned plausibility more and more made me genuinely angry by the end. The first couple of episodes are so unrepresentative. Clearly they had no real plan for resolving the various threads they'd set up with any credibility or at all in some cases.

It's been a while, but I think I remember the storyline with the schoolkids to be incredibly annoying. Cool aliens though.

Foundation S2 has me hooked. Smashed through six episodes at the weekend. Day is as riveting as ever. Lady Demerel is well suspicious. It’s settled down to be a bit more straightforward although where it’s going I don’t know. It’s been more than 30 years since I read the books. Best shots of ‘spaceship in orbit around a planet’ in the game!

Season 2 is far better than the random shit that happened in Season 1, still have no idea what's going on with keeping Salvor alive this long but I suppose this is the problem with doing a TV show about a story that spans 100's of years.

S2 has really upped the game. Its probably the best sci-fi around at the moment.
On the flipside, Invasion S2 seems to be completely based around the lady mooning over her girlfriend and playing david bowie again, so BAU for that load of shit.

Best shots of ‘spaceship in orbit around a planet’ in the game! I find it good but less than the sum of its parts. Certainly enough to keep watching. It looks fantastic and must have been hugely expensive. The cast is pretty good too. There's some terrific sci-fi ideas and fun concepts. Yet I've never been gripped by it and wanted to binge episode after episode, which is something that the likes of The Expanse and Battlestar Galactica have managed. I think it might be the characters. They aren't bad but I've got no attachment to any of them.

Latest episode of Foundation is just fucking insanity, for those who aren't watching but did watch Babylon 5, this was its Severed Dreams.
Incredible stuff, as I'm on holiday next week I may have to watch the season finale on my bloody phone, which is obviously not ideal but I'm not sure I can wait to get home.

Absolutely agree with this. S2 E9 was a banger. As ol’ inappropriate touching DJ Westwood would say, ‘Hit after heavy hit’!

Finished Foundation.
They've done a great job with this. Especially given the scope and scale. Asimov has some great books and some not so much but they've always been incredible ideas.
I wasn't sure about Gaal at first but was great in the last few episodes. Brother Day is consistently excellent and General Riose was brilliant.
Great stuff.

Just bingeing For All Mankind S3 now, I thought S1 and S2 had a bit too much of the personal issues rather than the more interesting space drama. S3 is a massive step up, hopefully 4 continues that.

I've finally got around to watching Silo, had it downloaded for a few months now. I started off sceptical but it's slowly burned away pulling me in. Really enjoying it after 4 episodes.
I'm not expecting the reveal to be world shattering but I'm a sucker for lore/background that suggests oversized senses of scale.
Also have foundation S2 lined up. Comments in here suggest in continues in quality which I'm excited for. S1 was awesome.

Apple TV has had a run of very decent sci-fi, and it's probably the best service for the genre. It's really only been Invasion that was actively disappointing and I still hate watched it to the end.
I just hope they continue to support these series. All have amazing production values and must cost a fortune.
Still not really forgiven Netflix for cancelling The Expanse and Altered Carbon prematurely. At least one of those was somewhat rescued I suppose.

Has Invasion finished now? I might "hate watch" season 2 then just to see what the end was

Even more expensive looking Apple TV SF, set after Godzilla (2014) with some stuff in the past too with Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt playing the same character.

It's interesting I really enjoyed the books, and always thought they'd make a decent TV series if a bit hard to represent visually. The first book, which is most of S1 is the most conventional of the three. Will be really interesting to see how much they decide they have to tinker to make a decent screenplay out of the rest. Without spoilers, the central mysteries are explained in the books in quite satisfying ways (to me at least).
