The Meg is pretty much essential, it's always been targetted at an adult readership so can do stories and themes that could be a bit tricky to do in 2000AD (Devlin Waugh's demon in a dildo would be a bit much) and is bagged so you get supplementary archival reprints in a "floppy" mag as well.

Yeah I like the Megazine, like all anthologies not every story is great, but overall the quality is good. The collected floppies sometimes reprint some good stuff and are worth a read.
The whole package is well worth £15 a month IMO

Stop it. May have to subscribe to both at this rate. 15 or 11 a month isn't much difference.

Well, I have subbed up. Hope the boy keeps enjoying it.
If not, his old man will be happy enough reliving his teens. 😀

2000AD kind of passed me by. I think it was the sort of thing my Mother 'wouldn't approve of'. I do recall being round at a friend's house and picking up a copy they had, and reading the start of a Dredd story called 'Unamerican Grafitti' and wondering what happened in the end. Then 10 years ago, I was at the London Comic Con and found somewhere selling omnibus editions. Mentioned this story about 'Chopper and Phantom' spraying Mega City One, and he knew exactly what I was on about. So I had about a 25 year delay, but I finally got to the end of the story. It was worth the wait!
I've read Halo Jones (loved that), but I think that's where 2000AD starts and stops for me.
Or did Tank Girl originate there too? Seems like a 2000AD kind of thang.

Tank Girl was separate, but the artist (Jamie Hewlett) did do a bit of 2000ad stuff (as well as the Gorillaz animations). Hewligan's Haircut is one that sticks in my mind.

Tank Girl wouldn't have been a good fit for 2000AD so having it in a spin-off publication that catered to a slightly older 'edgier' audience was the right call.
It has the distinction of being the only 2000AD related property besides Dredd that got a film adaptation, I have no idea how something so difficult to pin down and adapt jumped to the head of the queue, zeitgeist I guess.

There was also that "Hardware" film that was a rip-off of a Future Shock, that's kinda related to 2000AD I actually quite liked that film IIRC even though it was basically plagiarism. not seen it in years.

I remember Hardware, some searching around details a successful plagiarism suit attributing the story to 'Shok!' in the 1981 Judge Dredd annual.
I really want to read that story now. It's incredibly frustrating, I know I probably still have the annual somewhere but I have no idea where it is.

Okay so far I've turned up:
A random issue of 2000AD Presents Crisis The Judge Dredd Annual 1989 Marvel Presents The Spider-Man 1979 Two Tank Girl trade paperbacks 2000AD Annual 1987 2000AD Annual 1992 A couple of X-Files graphic novels
I'm never going to find it, it's entirely my fault. All my stuff is an absolute mess with no rhyme or reason. People shrink in terror from my games collection 'Why is everything mixed together?' 'Dreamcast, GBA, N64 & PS2 games together? What is the organisational scheme exactly?' 'Dogs and cats living together... Mass Hysteria!'
We'll have to cruise the high seas to read this one.

I have the annual but no scanner. I could take some photos on my phone? It has a fairly decent camera I think
Just had a quick flick through, the '81 Dredd annual is packed with McMahon Dredd art when he was at his absolute peak. It's incredible and I had forgotten all about it

Bit of a surprise in the post today, no Saturday thrill power delivery this time, a copy of the AD2000 dummy issue that was pitched to IPC back in 1976.
Looks a bit weird to see stories with virtually no lettering but did show off the art really nicely. A zarjaz free curio.

I think, whilst I had been buying up a lot of 200AD from my newsagent from launch (and lost so many 'accidentally' during a house move when I was 10...) 1981-83 was probably my peak 2000AD era. I'm dipping back in and buying collections when time and space permit. I never get on with digital, be it comics or mags such as Edge - probably says more about me really - but would be a boon for space saving..

Richard Stanley had to begrudgingly admit he had subconsciously ripped off that Future Shock. Thankfully, the film doesn't replicate the silly sting ending.
Hardware is long OOP on Blu-ray and goes for silly money now. I don't know if it's on any streaming platform. It's not a bad film, considering it was made for 20p and if you have any love of 80s goth or industrial music, you'll probably enjoy it.

I've always wanted to see it after seeing the box in our local video shack years ago.
Never managed to see it yet.

Received our 2000ad last week after subbing up, but nothing this week. Thought we should have had it by now.
Has anyone else got theirs, or are they usually delivered later? Not even had a dispatch email.

Sub copies usually come on Saturday, or the following Monday if there are issues with the post. Then the issue hits the shops on Wednesday. I got prog 2253 last weekend so should get 2254 tomorrow.
I only get an email once a month when they take my direct debit.

That's what I thought. He has a letter today, possibly from rebellion. So that may add more clarity.
The hard copy 2253 should still be in the shops i guess, so may just pick one up and assume it is teething problems in early days of the sub.
On my account, it is registered as an order, but doesn't say it has been dispatched.
It is odd.

Their customer service is usually pretty good so give them a shout. If an issue goes missing in the post or whatever they'll send you another one for free. I sometimes get issues delayed after bank holidays messing with their schedule etc.

On my account, it is registered as an order, but doesn't say it has been dispatched. It is odd. I think I know what's probably happened here. I just checked my account and I don't have orders listed for individual issues, just a montly sub. From memory, sub copies get dispatched by the printers after printing, and then the rest of the print run gets shipped to Rebellion's warehouse. So it will take a couple of weeks for new subs to integrate into the system as they are obviously working a couple of weeks ahead, and they have to raise individual orders for new subs first couple of issues. Not sure why your order for 2253 still hasn't been dispatched though.

Just checked my blu-ray and it actually has a little art book in it with the comic reprinted inside, quite the turnaround!
