What a wonderful day.
Seriously, i think KOTOR is the game that kept me gaming. After being burnt by Fable, this was the game i needed. Dialogue trees, big moral decisions, i just loved it. Some of the romantic dialogue with Bastilla was like watching a young Rodimus woo the maidens at college.
I can appreciate Fable for what it is today, but i went into it expecting to be able to do all the kinds of things that i actually could in Knights of the Old Republic.
Revan's (possible) response to the Rakatan council is an all-time great piece of dialogue.
Revan: I spoke to you before? What did I want?
Rakatan Elder Councillor: Is this some type of test, Revan? Some type of trick? You came seeking our aid; you came in search of a way to enter the Temple of the Ancients. You claimed to be seeking a way to destroy the Star Forge, and we were foolish enough to believe you. Unaware of your true nature, we helped you enter the Temple. But you betrayed us, Revan. Instead of destroying the terrible legacy of our ancestors, you unleashed the evil of the Star Forge upon an unsuspecting galaxy. And now you stand before the Council of Elders once more. And once more we ask you: for what reason have you returned, Revan?
Revan: Uh... I need to get into the Temple so I can destroy the Star Forge.

I actually only kept hold of maybe 8 OG XBOX games in The Great Cullings over the years, and KotOR is one of them. Not sure I feel much need for a remaster mind you, unless it's a prelude to a full on threequel. In which case I'll buy five copies.

I reckon Sony have a battle chest of money that they were previously going to throw toward Bethesda studios in particular, as evidenced by timed exclusivity for Deathloop and Tokyo Ghostwire and the rumours they were trying to snag Starfield as a timed exclusive too. Probably would have tried it on for ES:VI and FO5 too. It makes sense that with the MS acquisition of all Zenimax studios, that they now utilise that money to snag some other exclusives, timed or otherwise, instead. |

Meh.
Can they remake it with an actual battle system this time? It was click on it till it's dead, or until I got so bored of all the clicking that I gave up on the game. The characters and story weren't exactly gripping me either.
I did like getting my own astromech droid though.

I seem to remember all the big story beats of KOTOR yet I still want to play this. If it's going to be remade from the ground up, with today's expectations, those environments would look unbelievable.
But yeah, I actually would be surprised if the combat is still the same.

Was talking to my brother earlier in the week after recently finishing Mass Effect 1 and 2 about how much I'd love a KOTOR remaster, let alone a total remake. Fucking incredible news.

Hopefully it does well enough to get the sequel remade too, with all the cut content added. Also the plot is a squillion times better than the original.

I just hope they don't go full on action game for this. Bought the original at launch and loved it, replaying it over the years, there are a lot of clunky systems that could be streamlined and modernised, but I don't want them to mess with the core experience of the game.

Yeah. I'd be disappointed if they lean too heavily into action combat. I'm sure the original system is undoubtedly clunky af for modern tastes, but hopefully they can strike a happy balance somewhere.
