Nuts. I think for my gym, it's a small town and my gym is near the town centre, so it's mostly restaurants/hotels nearby where staff would be busy at lunch time.
And to be clear re new years resolutioners, I don't begrudge anyone for joining the gym, as long as they're not dickheads.

Same, it gets full at lunch from college kids and people working from home. Luckily it has an app that gives an indication of numbers. I’ve been when it says 20 and it feels crowded, I’ve seen other times it saying 40+ which must be horrific.

I'm going to be one of those people on a exercise feast in the new year given December has been a cluster fuck for multiple reasons.
Although having a newborn isn't going to help in getting the required exercise in.

Bullshit. Every week there's a dickhead doing parkrun with a pram.

There are ways of doing it, I'm sure you'll find a routine that suits you

Nah mate. That first year is just going to be about survival. If you can fit in a workout, more power to you. But don’t be afraid to say fuck it and eat a bacon roll instead.

This is the second. I had many a barny with the wife when the first was born cause I was spending too much time exercising and not with the kid. I was going for 10k plus runs so she had a point. Since then I've adapted to 5k runs and weights. However with the second one here and the first still requiring lots of attention....I has a bacon sandwich yesterday and today. 🙈

Don't normally make new years resolutions but I appear to have entered this into the notes app on my phone
I need to lose about 8kg to be just within the "healthy" BMI range, so I'll try and lose 10kg.
Let's see how long that quantum of resolve lasts.
(I'm starting this from Wednesday as that's when I'm back at work this signalling the end of the Christmas holidays. That I'm delaying this until then might already suggest my resolve isn't that strong).

I need to lose about 5kg to be "healthy". But the problem I have is I cut that down to 4kg a few months ago but it crept back up.
However, my big caveat is that I am definitely fitter and slimmer, so I've possibly hit the tipping point of losing fat in place of muscle.

Do a few workouts a week, aim to increase intensity over a few weeks. Do what you can manage and you’ll actually stick to it.

Thanks. Just need to actually stick to it.
I'm also saying 10kg but it might be more after the last week.

My gym is still shut so i can't see how many new year's resolution users are subscribing to sports' mantra for a new you.
Some I'm sure will be more like dfunked's.

I've been looking after myself far better recently but during December I noticed a twinge in my left arm. I suspect I've tendonitis which means I can't currently lift my dumbbells at home. I'd got into such a good habit with them that I'm really missing it!

Why is leg day so Fucking painful? Given we stand and walk on them and their the strongest muscles in the body?

I like leg day. It's better than a toblerone up the arse at any rate.
Walk oddly the next day or two after either option too. 🤣😱

Squats and deadifts are fun.
Weighted calf raises absolutely ruin me though. Even worse, despite, or possibly because I used to run a fair bit, my calves barely do anything.

Did barbell squats for the first time in months on Sunday, after being too scared due to an iffy back. Only did a fraction of my previous top weight but it's properly fucked me. I've been going pretty heavy on the leg press in the meantime too so I really wasn't expecting the level of pain. Stairs have been a proper ordeal.

Barbell back squats are my current favourite, even if deadifts are nicer for the ego.
If you can sit on a seat, or stand up from it, without a whimper, you haven't gone hard enough. 😀

Leg day was yesterday. Stairs made me feel it.
My 3 x 1km sprints today were only partially completed.

Lucky bugger. I've put on far more than that. 2024 is going to have to be a major weight loss year.
