Perversely I actually quite like DOMS. It's like an affirmation It's fine for 1 or 2 days...It's only getting back to normal now 5 days after the fact! That's just not fair

Yeah, same pretty much. Although, mine is more upright than the cycling types.
I did actual leg day (squats, lunges, step ups, presses) today, I don't love it but I don't mind it either. And after it's done, shoulders feels like a little ray of sunshine.

Gotta give a shout out to my boy Decks, I’ve been doing a few hamstring stretches since his suggestion and they seem to have had a positive effect so I’ll keep up with those. My “back like an ironing board, arse out like a baboon in season” cycling position has felt more comfortable than it has for a while

Regular hamstring stretches, or have you been doing Decks' 'special' yoga ones with that lady he linked to?

11 stone this morning. That's about a third of my bodyweight gone in 9 months. Mrs Hermit has stopped being pleased and wants me to go to the doctors because she's convinced herself I'm ill.

I was scared by half a stone in 3 months (that I wasn't trying to lose), that's just unfathomable! Incredible effort!

I believe user dr. sport will personally diagnose any disease present via the medium of photography, if user robthehermit will submit photographic evidence of said disease.

I don't usually have mich time in the gym, so have recently started doing my strength training and conditioning/cardio every second day. By that I mean all strength training one visit, all cardio the next.
Devoting the full time to the one type of exercise has really improved both, rather than rushing one to get the other started.
I don't know if this information is of any use to anybody, but I've written it down now.

Posting in here as it seems to be most relevant.
Does anyone have any experience with resistance bands being their main form of strength training? I'm about to hit a period of time where it's going to be difficult to consistently go to the gym, and I don't really have the space at home to get any sort of full weight setup going so I've been looking at a few different options for these bands that come with different bars and handles but I'm honestly clueless as I've never touched them before. Are they any cop and if so are there any decent sets I should be looking at?

My missus has some, but i haven't done much with them.
I'd quite like a power rack or cables set up in the double garage, but apparently that's not allowed as she couldn't then get her car in during the winter and 'all your bikes & shit' take up the rest of the room.
Forgetting all the garden furniture & other pish that also get squeezed in over winter.
😜

Why is being healthy and fit just such a big fucking chore? I know some people love running and all that jazz, and good for them, but personally I'm finding it incredibly hard to be motivated.

In the past I found forcing myself for long enough for it to be a habit, which is also about the time you notice any sort of results, was the only way I could keep doing it.
Lockdown completely messed up my fitness pattern. I got into running during that but then pulled my calf and I’ve never got back into it since. I tried going to a gym which was a 15 minute drive +10 minute walk + had to pay for parking. I couldn’t keep in that pattern as it was almost an hour of my day without even using the gym. I used to go to the gym every day but that was when I went in the office and a gym was next to it.
I’m finally going to give in and use the local gym which is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive. It’s only put me off in the past because the owner is a convicted drug dealer and I’m pretty sure it’s money laundering using the gym.

I did try and do some basic calisthenics but then did something and managed to trap a nerve or pull a muscle quite painfully, which took a few weeks to heal. Guess I should try and at least try and start doing that again.
Not sure there's any point in me signing up for a gym as I likely wouldn't go. Plus I'm (absurdly) self-conscious and don't want to be seen exercising. I know nobody will care but it's enough to put me off.
It's like dancing, I hate dancing unless I've had more alcohol than is strictly healthy, but I can't really take the same approach when going to the gym.
