Just stretch your hamstrings you maniac. It'll literally stop your back hurting almost instantly. It doesn't even need to be much, just touch your toes and hold it there when you feel it stretching.

And I'm passed the pain bit of lifting now, can't remember the last time I had proper doms. I kind of miss it.

Mines the top of my back, just by my shoulder blade. Seems to effect my neck too, sometimes it feels like I've got whiplash.
Think it's my desk set up at work not being the best but getting to the point where I'm thinking about physio/Chiropractor to try and sort it.

Do you look down at your monitor(s)?
If so, try lifting them up, so that they're at least eye level, or even better slightly above. Makes a huge difference, ime.

Touch my toes, what kind of stretch Armstrong do you think I am? So much this. I have never been able to do that. Definitely not flexible enough for that. I have a weird long body/shorter legs thing though, so I'll blame that. My greatest achievement was breeding that trait out for our son who as long legs and a normal length body!

I actually can’t touch my toes, never been able to. I’ve got massively high hips and long femurs, so it’s not on the cards for me

Then just do it every now and again when you feel it tightening up.

Ha. Honestly it's crazy people living with muscle pain when 20 minutes focusing on stretching the right area will sort out 99% of it. I used to have shit loads of lower back pain until someone pointed out it was my hamstrings, I haven't had a problem since. Now I feel I need to spread the good word.

I did do some stretches last year when I had what Google said was probably sciatic nerve pain, did these things where you fold one leg up and lay on it. They seemed to work a bit, but the cause turned out to be sitting with my feet on the poof each night so that cured it. I do some up dogs or whatever in the morning while doing my press ups, just helps me wake up. I’ll give some hamstring stretches a go though

I really got into yoga during lockdown, really helped when we were doing that forum press up challenge. Slowly stopped doing it when I had to go back to work and then the back pain started. Amazing I never thought to carry on with the yoga again.
Had a lovely Asian lady with the most calming voice doing the classes too.

3 days after my 10 min upper body workout: Still can't move my upper body without pain, chest is better but triceps still hurt when moving. Did a running warm up without the upper body yesterday that consisted of half arsed star jumps and going up and down the stairs a few times. Run was ok apart from every swing of the arms being a pain I don't think these free training routines take into account that you have doms. "Get ripped upper body in 4 weeks by working out 10 mins a day"* * will need 5 weeks mins if you haven't done any upper body in 3 months.

Just push through it. Working the muscle again will make doms go away. Resting it will just make it last longer.

Back and biceps day today.
Up to 17kg for one arm rows. I can curl 12kg for the first set but I have to drop the weight for subsequent sets. By the end I was down to 6kg for hammer curls.
Should I be dropping the weight so I can do all the sets at that weight?

Managed the gym three times since the new year, hadn't been since I had COVID last April. Epic DOMS in the arse cheeks, triceps and lats, but didn't last all that long.
Twenty minutes on the elliptical for a warm up and light cardio. Then onto weights, using the machines because I'm a wuss and also worried about form after so long away. Steps with a medicine ball, 10-15 minutes on a bike, then stretches. Works out about 90 minutes.
I generally used to go to classes, weights and spin, so I actually don't really have a structured plan with weights. I guess I should concentrate on one or two areas each time I go? I have no fucking idea.
Other than that I need to get cycling again. I'll probably go back to spin classes as well. Need to start yoga, but I need the most beginner's class imaginable.
Going to try and incorporate two or three twenty minute walks into my work day, although the cyclone is making that hard right now.
Cut down on beer and shite too, but need to go much further.

Anyone that says they like leg day is pretending and hyping themselves up for their own leg day.

You grow to love/hate it. It sucks because it hurts, and takes ages. It's fun moving and progressing heavy weight though.

I've noticed since covid that I get cramp really easily in my calves when I run, even doing my full warm ups. This only happened when I started running again 2 years ago.
Did anyone else notice that?

I'm making a vague effort. I'm not very fit, but trying to eat better (or at least cut down on crap) and do calisthenics.
Realised my upper body strength is pretty risible, so push ups seen like a good place to start. Can do about 10 at the moment which is pretty weak but there you go.
Can do squats fairly easily though, legs seem good.

After far too long doing no exercise at all, I've started going for walks on my lunch break every day for the past couple of weeks now to build myself up to starting jogging (and feel immensely better just for that short bit of exercise)
Left calf feels a bit fucked though now that you mention it. Needed a good massage last night.
