On the note of Yodel, and I know delivery guys being useless is probably obvious, but we had a fucking moronic one yesterday. We live in a council block of flats, got an email at 11:30 saying they were going to deliver it that day, then got one at 12:30 saying they'd delivered it to my safe place "the front porch". I was out all day, but weirdly the stupid bastards leaving it on the street it had vanished by the time we got home at 10pm. Idiots.
I also got a DPD guy on Friday who turned up at 9am rang the buzzer for our flat on the fifth floor then went "I'm just leaving it in the lift". So I had to get clothes on and leg it to the lifts then get the sodding lift to come back to our floor as it had gone past, luckily I did actually get that parcel.

I've just had a proper catch 22 moment that's made my blood boil. We have a pallet that's going to Romania which we need to send to a freight forwarder. I phone them up and ask if we can send it to them. They say that they need a reference, otherwise it will be rejected. So I then ask the recipient for a reference and they don't know what that is and suggest we use the invoice number as a reference. I call the freight forwarder again and they now say that the reference has to be a 3RRE reference, as it's going to Romania. "Oh is this a customs reference, then?" "No, this is a (freight forwarder company) reference" "Oh right, so do you know how the recipient or I would get this reference?" "No I don't know where they get it from" "So you're asking for a reference that your company provides, but don't know where that reference would come from?" "Correct, but if you don't have a 3RRE reference the pallet will be refused" I then asked if anyone else there could help but she just didn't want to help AT ALL. I ended up slamming the phone down as I was getting nowhere, garrrh!

Youtube, oh my God. I want to see the links the creator posted in the description. Not long ago, opening the description was messed up so that the "read more" link was superimposed on the first line of the description that showed up. Still worked but was easy to miss. More recently, they fixed that so that "read more" appeared on the right side next to the first line again. Now they fucked it up again and it just isn't there. All the links the creator posted in their description are inaccessible.
I mean seriously, this is not some amateur Geocities page. It's fucking Youtube. How do they manage to keep fucking up like this?
And then the Chromecast Youtube app. Sometimes I need to pause to read some text the video shows. On Chromecast, the video title was displayed in big bold letters with black background at the bottom so I couldn't read the bottom part. But they managed to make it even worse: now a list of "next videos" covers the bottom half of the screen when pausing, no matter if there are any more videos in the playlist or not.
Seriously, how can a company this big fail so hard at doing the bare minimum?

How are booking fees on tickets a legal thing? When a ticket is advertised as £15 then every single ticket (not per order etc) has a £1.50 booking fee it should just be advertised as £16.50 a Ticket.

Because its non-refundable. If they sold you a £16.50 ticket, they would have to refund you £16.50. As it is, they pocket the booking fee. Scam is probably the wrong word but its a dodge just to keep some of your money.

Can't do anything about it, so I should very much let it go, but oh boy does it fuck me off.

My missus is still pissed off to this day about a takeaway we had six months ago and they didn't include the pickle tray she ordered. When she rang up to complain, they didn't give a shit.
It was £3.50. she's still stewing. I gave her £3.50 to balance the books, she said it wasn't the same. IT'S THE PRINCIPLE.

It's windy today and therefore our electricity keeps going on and off. Last time it blew our sat TV up. Wonder what it may destroy this time.

Flippin BBC has a "#NoSpendJanuary can it be done" article, where people with more money than they need each month do what lots of people have to do every month and only spend on essentials. Given how people are struggling to afford heating and are having to use food banks, it struck me as pretty insensitive to be honest. Seeing someone showing that you can wear outfits with more one thing (no fucking kidding) and another saying that they skip nights out and eat left overs made me really think they haven't a clue. One of them saves £800 in the month they do this, unlike the people who have to do this and who end up with bills they can't pay at the end of each month.
Maybe its just me, but I thought it was just really thoughtless.

I think you might be being a tad over sensitive about a puff piece. Maybe so. As I said, could well be me. But that's why it's a random rant rather than a focused and entirely justified one 🙂

I think you might be being a tad over sensitive about a puff piece. However there’s always a reason for an article, even an innocuous one. And it’s probably “look you’re going to be fucking poor so get used to it and suck it up”

Generally anything written by journalists, who are a peculiarly self referential bunch, about lifestyle is going to be fucking insane.

Why is Amazon gift wrapping so expensive???!! 4 quid to wrap a cd??
I almost feel bad about this, because maybe I'm saying Amazon should cut costs and pay the wrappers less. But how long does it take to wrap a cd, and how much does the paper and tape cost?
I'd actually use their wrapping service a lot more if the price was 1 or 2 quid.
The shops here will usually gift wrap things for free, but some of them might have a nominal charge that comes out at less than one pound.

I have youtube on quite often whilst I'm writing/working/studying. See the ads that appear? The unskippable ones specifically? Like the cunting google pixel ones, or the shitting hellofresh ones, or the goddamn mobile game ones. They can all fucking fuck the fuck off. I have to stop what I'm doing, navigate to the tab, see if I can skip the cocking ad, if not, sit through the inane fucking ear wank. Piss the fucking piss off. I fucking hate the modern way of living. Now I'm not studying, because I'm on here ranting about it. Pisswhiskers.
I may concede that I'm disproportionately angry because I've just eaten a large bag of Irn Bru jelly babies. I think I'm going blind actually.

uBlock Origin gets rid of them
I don't know how anyone can do anything that requires thinking while listening to music or anything though. I need complete silence to study or write

I'll have a look at that cheers.
I listen to a lot of ambient electronica, always have. I can't do silence. I need sound, but no singing, the words distract me.

129INR, which works out at £1.28 for me with a fee free card like revolut.
£11.99 normally, so well worth a bit of a faff (mine never seems to auto renew and I have to manually pay each month)
