So when I decided to play through arcade Ghouls'n Ghosts for the first time, two loops and true ending and all, I picked the Japanese version because Capcom Arcade Stadium lets you choose between JP and US versions and these games (like Ghosts'n Goblins before) sometimes have some content cut like Christian crosses, so why not right?
And now, halfway through the second loop, as my hair is greying, I'm reading this:
I'm calm. I'm smiling. I'll just accidentally post this in the rants thread and go about my day being serene and mentally stable.

Much the same here. For a family of 4, even a bog standard pub trip is now close to a ton. We met two friends and their two kids (one a baby) for a pub lunch in our local. With my wife and our two older kids added in the total bill was £200. No one had more than three pints and I think it was about ten pints in total for the four of us. No idea why pubs are whining about losing customers…. Yup. My local was taken over a few years ago and they have tried hard to listen to the community to get people back through the doors, mostly getting it right, especially by making the drinkers feel welcome (previous landlords wouldn't even let you drink at the bar). But the food is so painfully average, and is expensive for what it is. £16 on average for a main. Only good thing is kids meals are £6 and a good size so even the 14 year old is generally happy. They've changed chefs twice and now the landlord is cooking. It's just not worth the money. Such a shame as I'd love to support them more - will just have to settle for a few pints every other week or so.

I rarely eat in pubs but my dad and sister go to a pub local to them for Sunday lunch at least one a month. When I visit I very much hope we post a visit as it's great.
12.50, or pay 2 quid more for all three meats and pigs in blankets. I think that's perfectly reasonable tbh.
(Shout out to the The Fountain Inn in Lower Gornal)

Yeah, that sounds pretty reasonable. £18.95 for a Sunday roast at our local cheaper pub, and that's not even a trio of meat.
Mmmmmm... Trio of meat.

Ours is around 18-20 quid for bog standard stuff (burger, fish and chips) and *thirty* for a low bar steak.
The food is ok - standard gastro pub fare but fuck me, the margins on that!

The green and king pubs around here are fairly decent for the price. I treated my parents to sunday dinner to chef and brewer one and their sunday dinner was awful apart from the turkey

I'm lucky that my local does amazing pizzas, and on the weekends 12-3 they are half price, so it's not too bad to take the kids.
Another local does cracking roasts (with massive portions) but they are £22. I can cook for the 4 of us (with leftovers) for less than that and enjoy a couple of hours in the kitchen on a Sunday so it's vary rare that we do that.

Yeah, I'm generally against paying for a roast out when I can spend less and do (in my opinion) a generally much better job (especially roasties).
Though when you find a good one, it's worth the expense as a treat.

If you find a place that does a amazing roast dinner then I don't mind paying £20 or a bit more. One of the country pubs had a great head chef that did these golden roast potatoes that were triple cooked that had these amazing crunch coating. The meat was always slow cooked but he left and got a new chef and now the food is bog standard pub food at £20+. (the roast potatoes are no longer triple cooked but giant boulders of boiling blandness, I did hear they started putting curry powder and garlic on them in the attempt to make them not bland)

Don’t think there will be many forumites on pre payment meters but if anybody is and is with British Gas, watch your usage this morning as the top up system is down nationwide, currently leaving us with no electricity and the boiler unable to fire after our credit ran out this morning. We are also unable to monitor our balance as the display needs replacing but the current one is incompatible with our outdated smart meter, and they are just not getting back to us with an appointment to fit.

Ouch - I’m on Eon, luckily it’s normally up but I’m pretty sure they can reinstate if it runs out due to a fuck up their end? I know with my lot they won’t disconnect the supply outside of hours (ie 8-6pm Monday to Friday).
Well, in theory. I’ve never had to put it to the test!

They couldn’t with us. Maybe it was a bigger fuck up, or maybe it was because of our outdated meter.
Anyway, back up and just ordered a large bacon and sausage butty ‘for the stress’ so every cloud and all that.

Reminds me of when our electricity key meter broke in our student house. Pretty much an entire year of free leccy, was ace.

I had a smart meter install with Utilita in 2018 that went wrong with my gas meter, they finally sorted it at the start of this year, I'm on top ups until I get this debt taken off with the shitty process but got help from CAB and should be taken off after a few more phone calls.

The one advantage of being temporarily deaf in one ear is that when children running around my workplace are screaming like banshees and their parents can't be bothered to do anything about it, I can only hear it 50% as much as usual.

At the ones near here that are worth eating at for me, wife and child (5) getting a drink, a main and usually a dessert we’re looking at about £80 most of the time. So we rarely do it.

People who record hold music on Bontempi keyboards are their own special category of sadists, aren't they?
I bet they've got this weird deviant cult going on where they have listening parties for each others horrible little jingles, and wear matching bathrobes with "You are caller number (# here) in the queue" stitched to the back of them.
