dogbot Under UK consumer law, your rights and contract are with the retailer - they should repair or replace given its age. I'd be tempted to go back to Currys with your issue unless you're willing to leave it to Samsung at this point. This covers the consumer law stuff pretty clearly and you could use the info in it to probably press Currys to deal with it if you wanted to (as they should). www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act-aKJYx8n5KiSl#who-should-you-claim-againstI suppose it might depend on the reason for the torn seal - if it was done by kids/pets/yourself etc then maybe it's not classed as a failure/fault. Ta. I have already emailed them to ask them why I'm being sent to Samsung and they have acknowledged and say they will call. As far as I know, it hasn't been damaged by child or animal. It looks like something got caught on the seal as the drum was spinning and it's torn. However, I can't prove either way.

Yeah, I'd be going to Curry's and saying "replace this now or fix it in a timeframe I'm happy with". Whatever tore the seal it on Curry's to prove you misused it. Given its under 6 month's old they've not got a leg to stand on (after 6 month you have to prove it was the kit).

Given its under 6 month's old they've not got a leg to stand on (after 6 month you have to prove it was the kit). So... Curry's came back to me and said that they don't repair any white goods, it's always forward to the manufacturer. And quoted me a section of the repair agreement, which doesn't seem to be in my copy. Hmmm. Anyway, Samsung never called me back like they said they would, "within 24 hours". I sent them a snotty email this morning to complain about that and have mysteriously received a "replacement parts dispatch email" this afternoon. Sounds like I'm getting a new door seal and fitting it myself, lads. Good job I'm screwdriver competent. Practical upshot is, I'll go to AO for everything in future. When our 6 week old freezer died in January, we reported it, on the same call they called the manufacturer and got them to replace it and we had it swapped out in 2 days.

That's really unusual. Curry's have had a good reputation in everything I've heard until now.
Yes, Curry's don't do the repair, but they are responsible for arranging it and if they can't do it within a decent time frame then they should be replacing it.
However, I use AO for almost everything thse days. They're cheaper and quicker.

They have been in my experience and when I was recently looking at where to get a new TV from, people were saying they were good at no quibble replacements. Maybe they're good for some items, but awkward bastards on others or maybe me and the people I've been reading reviews from have been lucky.

Their Trustpilot reviews are pretty much split down the middle between excellent and appalling.
Tbh, the purchase and install were fine and it's not really their fault that the device has suffered damage/a part failure.
The customer service trying to get it sorted, on the other hand, has been terrible.

I spent a grand on an oven from currys that was dead on arrival and was forwarded directly to the manufacturer. I don't think it matters what you buy from them (unless you take out their insurance) they wash their hands of you the second you walk out the door.

I was going to say, unless you have their insurance, they don't give a fuck. John Lewis all the way for electricals imo.

The customer service trying to get it sorted, on the other hand, has been terrible. If it's just the seal, it is technically possible to fix it yourself. It is not the easiest job but it is do-able. Alternatively, you'll get a local repair guy to do it fairly cheap, if you can swallow paying for a repair you shouldn't really have to. Good luck stinky!

We're mostly alright. Washing is piling up, but everyone has clean stuff to wear for a while yet, even if some favourites need to be washed and ready... NOW!!
I wouldn't touch the internal waterworks, but I'm comfortable doing the electrical and mechanical bits. Which is good really because it's looking like I'll have to be.

Who was it here that kicked off at someone about service charges and tips? They should look at that receipt too.

Β£!00 for a burger? And what the hell do you get in a Golden Tomahawk? It out to be an actual golden tomahawk.

Holy shit. I would be out of there before they took my coat at those prices!
Knightsbridge allows you to take the piss with prices i guess, but fucking hell...

It's a tomahawk steak, which is quantity over quality as far as meat is concerned (lots of restaurants charge by oz, so the extra bone just adds on price for visual appeal and extra butchery skills needed) so the pricing there is just weird. Presumably it's got a bunch of frippery like gold leaf, which adds absolutely no taste or texture, looks like shit, and quadruples the price.
I've bought a two hundred dollar 8oz steak before, but it was a premium deluxe wagyu cut and it was worth every penny.

Who the fuck goes to somewhere that expensive and drinks vodka and redbull. It's also fun being Grey Goose, the vodka brand that is literally "we can make ourselves a premium product by just charging more and pretending we're an aspirational product, despite being shitty low quality"

The idea of paying megabucks for a steak is crazy. A decent chain will produce a similar quality to one that charges 3 times the price.

The idea of paying megabucks for a steak is crazy. A decent chain will produce a similar quality to one that charges 3 times the price. Everything is relative I guess. I've eaten at what was apparently an expensive steak place in LA and thought it was very average. But have also eaten at Goodman's and Hawksmoor and thought they were amazing. Nowhere near those prices though.
