Heh, I guess I can't really argue with that.
In an attempt to make a long story short - supplier says "order before this cut-off date and we'll hit the date you require", we ordered a week before that date, supplier has missed our order and has entered their annual two-week shutdown period and aren't replying to any form of communication.
Client is understandably fuming, the product is incredibly specific so we can't use an alternative supplier and we're about to be hit with some huge LADs.
Honestly, I need to get out of this job and industry.

This is probably the wrong thread for it now but a positive thing just happened - sis-in-law is expected to be discharged tomorrow.
In rantier news, I had to go into a big Asda today and it was absolute hell. And I couldn’t even get what I wanted as I need individual items for a single meal not multi-packs or catering sized vats. Ended up in the Co-op two villages over that I’d been aiming not to have to detour to.

She’s home!
Now just for a long process of rehab and recovery to begin. Mobility and speech are still fairly poor but both should come back soon on their own. For now though I think my brother is going to really have to step up. With an 11 month old and pair of springer spaniels, she’s very much not going to be able to lend a hand for quite awhile.
Honeymoon has been cancelled as well as the 250k ultra she was due to run this autumn. Was meant to be returning to work from maternity leave too but who knows when/if she’ll go back to that job now.
Still, its just under a week since she was hit so she’s doing amazing to be a) alive and b) home already.

Glad to hear she’s home and I wish her all the best. I’ve not said anything because that story really brought my blood to a boil as I had something similar happen to me as a teenager. I was far more fortunate than she has been (a couple of now barely visible facial scars), but it still triggers me to read about stuff like this.
I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Thanks man. Sorry to read you had to experience something similar. Its such a tough thing to feel angry about as there’s nothing we can do about it and it feels almost certain that whoever it was has got away with it now.
I can’t even say they’re sat at home knowing what they’ve done and having to live with it because they don’t. They’ve no idea whether she walked it off, had spinal surgery or if something worse happened because they fucked off and left her lying on the roadside. Bastards.

I can imagine the ‘not knowing’ will torture the driver. If there’s any slither of empathy in that person, they will hopefully carry that with them and it will haunt to the grave. Either that, or it will encourage them to come forward and turn themselves in.
Either way, probably not healthy to dwell on. I hope she is at least in good spirits, given all she’s been through.

She absolute lives for her dogs so being propped up in bed, Netflix on and those two curled up by her feet seems to be really bringing her back up already.

Glad she's home and on the road to recovery. Hopefully that will include some counselling too, can imagine that will knock you for 6, even after the physical injuries have mended.

Speaking to my brother tonight he’s said he thinks that she’s got a lot of trauma and hidden upset from the accident and mental impact of it all.
Considering he’s a soldier with tours of Afghanistan and Iraq under his belt if anyone I know is in a position to recognise that sort of thing its him.

She should definitely consider therapy I’d think with time. I’ve seen people become hermits over traumas left unchecked at the extreme end. Not saying this is likely if she’s young and resilient but there’s always some risk it starts to effect the daily quality of life.

I developed agoraphobia for 7-8 years in my late teens due to something similar-ish, so I +1 the therapy talk. Thankfully it seems your brother will keep a keen eye on her which is wonderful.

Llantwit Major is basically a retirement village near by, don't be surprised if the driver is old and blind. I use to ride to a nearby power station for work on a small motorbike and seen some terrible old people drivers.

On this otherwise dry evening, somehow a single raindrop apparently managed to strike my phone as it sat with the end sticking out of my pocket, and hit the thing directly in the charging port, so now I have a moisture detected notification that won't go the fuck away for ages.

simpleI’d be a little cross in your shoes with the wording of that appeal. I think the way they write in this very binary way about ‘life changing’ or not completely downplays the information you gave us in here. They should, with consent of the victim/family, write exactly what f*cking injuries were taken.

When you look at the prices of ink, and it's cheaper to buy a new printer with a colour + black ink cartridge free. Mental.

I've had to organise two stag do's in the past but neither of those was as much of a pain in the arse as my own being sorted.
Everyone messaging me privately with suggestions, critiques, moans etc. even though my best man is doing exactly what I've asked for. Think the problem is I've tried to keep everyone happy with location/activities as it's quite a diverse group of people (video game nerds, board game geeks, music and film snobs, sports fanatics, career alcoholics and family) and as a result practically nobody's happy.
We'll get there eventually but fuck me, it's more stressful than the wedding planning.

We have an Epson EcoTank, bought it in December 2021 and the ink has barely gone down, we probably print maybe 40 a4s a month. Before then I'd get palpitations every time someone mentioned they wanted to print something!

If they value you as a friend they’ll realise it’s about what you want, not them. Fuck the moaning ones off into the sun.

Yeah, I've pretty much told them the same and that the best man is doing exactly what I've asked. Don't mind people suggesting alternatives, it's more it pisses me off when they moan about what's offered but don't offer anything up themselves.
