My cat Shadow came in last night with poo all around his bum and started wiping himself on our lounge rug to tidy up, which is pleasant.
It's as if he got caught unawares and crapped himself - what could have happened here?. Might he have got scared by something or could it be a diet/upset tummy thing?. His poos in the garden are sometimes on the runny side so I wonder if his food isn't agreeing with him.
Or is he just stupid?

Yeah, food would be my guess.

occasionally icky tummy & runny poo is going to be par for the course with any critter. if persistent, or if accompanied by more frequent hurling - again, beyond the expected occasional coughed up furrball - I'd consider getting a vet to take a peek, or mention it an next checkup/vaccination.
i'm a little hyper vigilant on these issues after we lost one where this behavious indicated more serious tummy rumblings, but in the vast, vast, range of instances it's just going to be cats eating some tasty looking disease ridden mouse and scraping the resultant tummy mud across your cream carpets. Or puking in your shoes. Dicks.

Yeah we have his vaccination and check up at the start of November so that's pretty good timing. I've been a bit slack with his Bravecto timings so he's just had a dose in case it's worms. Cheers all.
I'd put a photo up of Shadow in a poo free pose but I've never worked out the photo posting thing on here!

Bravecto is just for fleas/ticks, isn't it? Your vet should be prescribing tablets for worming too.

Our vet moved us onto a different flea treatment as bravecto is a bit controversial now. I think the one we're using now is called simparica. And that also has a separate worming tablet once every 3 months, but the flea tablets are every month, inversely from how the bravecto one worked.

We use Effitix spot-on. Kills the buggers before they even bite.

I have 2 spot on things prescribed at a time and I'm not sure which does what, but having checked this morning Bravecto plus does fleas, ticks and worms.
I think the other may be a more specialist worm treatment too?. Maybe I should pay more attention to what I'm tormenting Shadow with.

My dog Cooper (a Bernese) naturally loves this type of weather - the colder the better.
Annoying thing is he wants us to leave the patio door open so he can come and go as he pleases whilst we freeze our nips off.
What usually happens
- Let him out and shut the door behind him - Stays out for 10 minutes - Comes to the door and paws it with an affronted look on his face - Let him in - Stays inside for 2 minutes before going back to the door and whining - Repeat

You sure he's not just a massive cat? There's some truth to that - he doesn't care about sticks at all but loves batting balls around and throwing them for himself.

Had to have words with the cat stealers again after my wife watched them open the door to their house and usher him in. Cheeky fuckers. Getting annoyed now.

Argh my cat has a weird rash on her back, from the base of her tail to about halfway up her spine. Her fur has been covering it pretty well
