It's worth having. 1 of ours wasn't even 1 and had 2 trips to the vets.
Peace of mind is worth having.

Yeah I think so. Not being scared of potentially being unable to pay for a massive vet bill is worth paying 20 odd quid a month for. Plus my missus is a massive hypochondriac and already wants to go to the vet because he has a couple of black dots on his stomach and has done a few farts FFS lol.

After 4 months of city life, Wilma gets to enjoy nature to the fullest – we're staying in a chalet in the Swiss alps for a week. Went on a children's hike; 5km and 200m elevation gain later she's knocked out lying in the shade while we're enjoying some white wine.

So Bobby is staying at my in-laws for a week, which is about a 5 minute walk away. We have my brother-in-law staying with us with their dog, and they don't get on. Bobby is quite happy down there and it is a second home really. He was taken back there yesterday evening by my niece. About 10 mins later, my wife went to get something from the car and Bobby is sat there on the doorstep. Had snuck out from the in-laws and found his way home! Clever dog.
I wanted to really wind up the in-laws by not letting on he was here but apparently that would have been cruel.

You should've at least been allowed a "How's Bobby getting on?" text to let them sweat for a minute. Followed by a picture of him chilling on your sofa

Exactly what I wanted to do. Got a frantic phone call, father-in-law and niece were out looking for him before we let them know!
Got to be so careful though - we live on a road that isn't busy really but runs parallel to a main road so sometimes get some through traffic. My brother-in-law nipped out to the shop yesterday and his dog somehow squirmed through a small gap when we opened the door, shot across the road, looking for him. Luckily no cars were on the road.

4 years ago today... This weekend... ❤️ What a fucking beaut. Can't get used to Boxers with tails yet (as pleased as I am that docking is outlawed). Had a fair few around my childhood so it still looks a bit weird to me.

One of the fucking cats shat in our bed, presumably as he couldn't get out because of the dog. Or a dirty protest. Duvet cover, sheets and mattress cover on a 90° wash, duvet in tomorrow. Mattress attacked with every cleaning product known to man and rotated. Walked in and couldn't work out why the room smelled like arse. Then discovered why.

Aw man. I feel for you Dougs. Do you have a tray? Might be time to have one for emergencies (or when fatty is sleeping by the exit)

Yeah, will dig the tray out tomorrow. Nightmare. Family have an ageing 17 year old cat and he regularly does dirty protests on their bed too. Not because of their dog, just because he can.

As the vaguest of consolation, I moved my cat's tray a couple of days ago and now she shits where it used to be. Just shits in the middle of the floor. While peeing in the tray as always.
Cats really are the worst and I don't know why we, as a species, ever "domesticated" them
I have moved the tray back.

Danno's mistake was not consulting with the cats wishes first.
The cat won. As usual.
Bow to our feline overlords.

Deaf? Or just ignoring you? Difficult to tell with cats.
All of ours certainly only came home when *they* wanted, regardless of any calling them in at bedtime on cold, dark nights. They were probably watching from somewhere close too.
The furry gits. 😀

Fucking bollocks. Just had to say goodbye to our dog Badger. She was a rescue dog, a cross between a Jack Russell and a long haired Dachshund (of all things) 14 years we have had her. Gutted 😢.
Went into hospital a week ago, and just didn't get better, not eating or drinking. She had a liver shunt, which meant anything wrong with her completely knocked her side ways. Poor thing. She's home now, and we will bury her later this evening. I'm having beer. ✌️

Thank you everyone.
Badgers claim to fame? If you, or your children, read Michael Morpurgo. Badger is the dog on the front cover of "A Medal For Leroy". Mike, as we like to call him, apparently chose her personally. ✌️

Aww. Sorry to read this. Worst thing about pets, but I 'm sure it knew it was well loved all those years.
Rescue animals especially. We' ve had a few slightly traumatised mogs who know they've hit the jackpot when they've found a good home.

Today I learned that "Hi, I need to pick up a scratching post for my other half" is not the same as saying "Hi, my other half ordered a scratching post for our cat and sent me to collect it"
For the record my other half does not posess talons so ferocious she goes through scratching posts on the regular
