Dudley's really got into finding snails recently. The other day my mum was round and he had to take each of us, one by one, out to the garden to have a look at his most recent find.

Another Robin brought in by Velma today, still warm as I gave it an undignified burial in the wheelie bin (black - landfill btw), Mrs Mercury's favourtite bird - as tied up in association with her long departed grandfather, think it's the third one, I've not told her about the other two either.

Very. A two hour morning walk in the rain and playtime with his mates this morning, all before breakfast.

We're still dealing with the stink monster. We've ended up buying some socks for him to stop him licking his pads. It kind of works, he licks his leg a bit and gets bored (hence why I think it's habit as he's not trying to get at his feet through the socks). Very funny watching him try to walk with them on for the first time though!

Little ones fully recovered from her op now and back to howling at nothing once a day in the garden.

And if you've got any of spiders, post those just for Danno
I saw a video of a spider bursting out of a banana the other day. Let me just find it

I haven't worked out how to upload pics yet, but after 2 days of basically sleeping all day, the beetle has gone psycho and has been racing around his tank all day trying to climb the glass.
Which means there's this loud skittering sound just behind me that sounds rather like what you'd hear in a horror movie.
I can't tell if he's having fun or freaking out.

Supposedly they can lift 850(!) times their own weight, which is like a human lifting 4 double-decker buses filled with passengers.
Does make me wonder how strong the plastic tank lid is...

Sounds like it might need more than a couple of elastic bands holding it down around the top of the vivarium for the 'roided up killer beetle you've got!

One for the dogging crew. We got a dog 3 weeks ago, 12 week old Boston Terrier, and we are wondering about pet insurance. Yay or ney? I've heard that some just keep the money they would pay for insurance in a saving account, which can be used for vet bills or anything else if never needed. I am just worried that vet costs are going up, and anything other than minor issues could cost thousands. Especially as we are hoping he will be an active dog, going on trips with us, maybe dog sports, etc.

It's one of those things, you'll maybe regret not having it, you'll maybe resent paying hundreds a year and not needing it. Can you comfortably afford to pay 30-40 a month?

30-40 a month for one dog? Have my 2 insured with Direct Line for 28 a month.

Yeah, I am leaning towards getting it. Seems that there are some decent ones for around 25 a month which cover between 5k-10k in vet bills per year, which I'd hope would be more than enough and not terrible cost wise. I have heard that vets charge a lot more when you have insurance. And of course there are caveats such as £100 excess per time, etc.
We got 5 weeks free with the kennel club or something, so still time to find out what is best.
