We use sawdust for our indoor cats.
It's a bit more messy to clean up but they have their own toilet room and the smell is infinitely better than that of any litter I've ever tried. Even when it needs changing it just smells woody in there.
Local wood shops or carpenters often sell enormous bags that last around 6 months (daily changes). We got 3 for six quid recently. I'd have bought more but that was all that my large 4x4 could carry.

Have you tried Zooplus? I use them for all my car litter. I use Canadian something or other. My fussy buggers turned their noses up with so much, but this stuff is great for them and cheap and it's easy to clean

The delivery man was not happy about me ordering 3 x 14 kg bags recently...

It seems I no longer need cat litter as my darling boy came into the room this afternoon while I was sat listening to some music and next thing I know he has done a huge dump on the rug in front of me! Gotta love cats

Zoe is back home and eating again. Not quite back to her old self yet but on the mend.

We have a one year old female calico called Lexi. Let me preface the following by saying she is a beautiful, hugely affectional cat. In the last few months she's really honed her night-time hunting technique - and she delights in bringing mice into the house in varying states. Some times she'll bring them in alive to play with (usually about 2am), other times she'll leave them on the stairs, dead with the head missing , and other times she'll have eaten everything except the kidneys which are left as a gift on the kitchen floor . Has anyone else had this with their juvenile cat? Apart from stopping her going out at night, I'm not sure what else I can do.

Bell on the collar will reduce her hunting successes, but then you get to enjoy the tinkly wake up zooms at 3am.

Ours are prolific hunters. One likes to bring gifts, the other is just a savage. We keep them shut in the kitchen at night though so usually easy to clear up the bloodbath.

Luckily ours can't climb drainpipes to reach us! We've always done it since they were kittens, so they are well used to it.
Funny how they don't like offal though.

When we lived on a farm one of my previous cats was a right killer. Mice voles rabbits birds. Often left us bits of animals (rabbit heads were the worst!) only animal she would never eat was moles, apparently they taste bad. She would also leave spleens lying around all the time!

I've got to ask, how did you know it was a spleen? I've no idea what one looks like, not even my own, never mind some random ex fluffy creature.

I'd want to know what random organ was being left on my floors so I'd sure as hell Google it. There's only so many it could be.

The kidneys are pretty recognisable tbh.

I thought about saying like a kidney, but it seemed unlikely that someone asking how to recognise a kidney would know what one looked like.

Put up some wall furniture so they have somewhere to escape to when the puppy comes in a few weeks. They seem to approve.

The shorthaired cat looks like her ledge is about to break off the wall.
Cute pets!
