He looks the part but he's the softest dog going. We have a little cavapoo that's the hard one of the 2.

Any idea how to stop my cats from clawing through our bannisters? Once they’ve found a spot there’s little convincing them otherwise. We have a door frame that’s nearly worn through to the wall because a cat decides it’s their spot for nail care, despite putting numerous scratching devices, posts and sheets surrounding it as best we could. One of ours has decided a corner of the upstairs stair carpet really should be the entrance to a subterranean tunnel system. I've tried all sorts, but the little bugger keeps going back to it whenever he can. Currently I've cut a plastic mat to fit over it, but he still pulls that our of the way. Ginger waster.

Peppermint works. They won't go near it. A few drops of essential oil in about 200ml of water and spray the area a bit. You'll smell it too ofc, and it needs refreshing every day or so until they abandon their crusade, but it shouldn't stain or otherwise impede your day. Can always just mint up an old towel or something and leave that there

Every night he sits motionless in the kitchen. In the dark. When he hungers. For flesh. You're not running... why are you not running?

Haha, that's brilliant. Had my in-laws over for dinner last night, they passed one of my cats walking up. Said he was just staring at the wall down the road. Didn't move even after they gave him a stroke. Cats are weird.

I am dog sitting for my mum's dog as she's having a knee replacement tomorrow. He's a lovely Cavapoo (and quite tall) but he's also fucking massively overweight. She feeds him crap every day, definitely killing with kindness. He sits there panting without even doing anything. Makes me sad. We've all told her loads of times but she won't stop.

My dad was like that with one of our cats. Always left food out. The cat was quite slender so it just had a big belly sticking out both sides
I think cats will eat whether they're hungry or not because they don't know when they'll eat again

Awwwh. Can you get a vet to intervene? If you can afford a consultation to get him up there on some pretence you'll likely buy him 3 or more years if she'll listen to a professional. Having them say the awful "he will die in X years" could do it.

She's been basically housebound for 2 years, given Covid and her lack of mobility. She knows he's a fat fucker but will just give him any old crap. Cakes, biscuits, crisps, rich leftovers from her dinner. He's only 5 but waddles like a proper old dog. We walk him as often as we can but it's not everyday it for long.
Also haven't seen either of my cats since he got here either. Feel guilty about that too. At least they have the run of the kitchen at night.

Ohh fuck no, 5 years is no age at all for him to be in such poor shape Sorry for judging but, gonna judge anyway. He needs a diet. Can a neighbour walk him once she's on the mend?

Oh, I know he needs a diet and she does too. Just cutting out feeding him crap will do it but no matter how much we tell her, she does it anyway. Tries to tell me he has only one can a day plus mixer biscuits. Just not possible! It doesn't help that her diet has gone to shit too, with way too much sugary stuff. My wife walks him 3 times a week for a quick 15/20 mins before work, I walk him once at weekend for a good walk, as does a friend of hers. The problem ain't the exercise, it's the diet.

The vet angle might be the way to go then. A professional telling her she is killing her buddy with love could go a long way. Worked on my great aunt and she's as stubborn as they come

Hopefully after he knee replacement, she'll be more mobile and able to get out and about a bit. If he needed to go to the vet, she'd just get us to take him, she needs to be in a fit state to take him herself!

Wasn't White. Ms Danno was hoping for a she but got the DNA test to confirm that the bitey bastard is, in fact, a he.
I was hoping for a lady parrott too tbh, this horny little shit is going to cause more problems than I can be bothered with in the next few years.*
*I was not advised about any of this

Our aging doodle is not well at all. At the vets with haemorrhagic gastritis and staying there on a drip for 2-7 days. Apparently they got half a bucketful of bloody fluid out of her colon. Prognosis is good so I'm resolutely refusing to google it.

Oh Sarfrin I'm so sorry, that sounds scary Really good news about the prognosis though, seems cautious optimism would be in order (and yeah, certainly don't go googling!)

We have two absolute bastard rabbits if anybody wants them. The kids begged for them for months, now they can’t be bothered with them. I wouldn’t mind if they were nice rabbits, but they Are anti social moody little Gits that just want to eat and shit all the time. Is that a decent enough sales pitch? Poppy and pickles need you....

The vet said she's seen 200 cases and hasn't lost one yet so fingers crossed it should be OK. Weird thing is despite it being relatively common they don't know what causes it.

Fellow cat owners - are you having issues getting cat litter at minute? There seems to be a general shortage again like we had last year. Wood based seems ok but the type Stimpy would like to curl between his toes seems to be AWOL. Tried all week in several places and all oos with staff not knowing when it's due back in.
