I'm glad the dog is judging you for having Gherkin crisps.

Luna contemplating who would feed her if she murdered us in our sleep... Saus after realising he can never go back to 30fps

I remember doing PC graphics programming and 15 fps being considered acceptable :-)

Our house now contains small cats. This is a rare moment of communal calm, which absolutely will not last. <img src=" " alt="" style="max-width:100%;">

After losing our cat last autumn (various ailments but essentially old age) it looks like we’ll be getting a new one soon.
Three year old rescue tabby who is currently with a foster family. Got to have a video interview on Wednesday then can visit her at the foster home before a two week trial and if all goes well its a donation to the charity (amount depending on whether her vaccinations can be confirmed) and she’s ours.
Hopefully the kid doesn’t terrorise her. Two and a half years old so could result in all kinds of chasing and grabbing.

You could try keeping the child in a crate?

Yeah, not too old to crate train it...
Good luck! Just make sure you pay the cat tax as soon as you can and post some pics. Tabbies rule!

This is Newton, our somewhat mental almost 2 year old rescue Lurcher (Greyhound x Saluki) that we rescued around 3 months ago. Or it would be if I knew why that didn't work.

Any idea how to stop my cats from clawing through our bannisters?

Have they got things they're allowed to scratch?

Any idea how to stop my cats from clawing through our bannisters? Once they’ve found a spot there’s little convincing them otherwise. We have a door frame that’s nearly worn through to the wall because a cat decides it’s their spot for nail care, despite putting numerous scratching devices, posts and sheets surrounding it as best we could.

They are lovely, Rob.
Milo David Nipples the third has started pissing on people when he jumps up to greet them. Those balls will be coming off soon...

Have they got things they're allowed to scratch? Yes, scratching posts everywhere. Even right next to the bannister in question (she pushes it out of the way to get to the bannister.

Thanks Rosie (the blond one) used to get so excited to see people she'd piss herself every time someone said hello to her. That went on for a couple of years before she grew out of it. She's an evil little shit and constantly winds Boris up stealing his toys and whatnot. Boris on the other hand is daft as a brush, doesn't have a malicious bone in his body and just exudes a sense of wellbeing and if you're feeling out of sorts he'll sit there and look at you until you give him a cuddle.

Any idea how to stop my cats from clawing through our bannisters? Lean into it - wrap some sisal rope round them and turn it into an official scratching post / climbing frame

Lean into it - wrap some sisal rope round them and turn it into an official scratching post / climbing frame This is probably your best bet. They may even decide they don't like it any more (and likely move on to the chippendale instead but c'est la vie)

This is my 60kg softie being comforted by my daughter during a storm. If someone doesn't do this he will cry under the dining table.

Surely a dog that big shouldn't be such a big feartie!
