Pretty much spot on, you will be fine Wunty. A blanket over the crate can help at first as well at night.

You'll be fine. They're much easier than babies.
ETA Don't freak out when you start finding teeth on the floor.

It's pretty rough at first but you'll quickly find a routine that will help both of you. Just have to be strong with the crate training, so easy to give in to the cries.
Lots of praise and a treat when she goes for a wee or poo outside.

The part I'm really struggling with is treating the ears and eyes, both of which we've had to deal with, the eyes has just happened. He absolutely fucking hates anything going anywhere near his ears or eyes.
He's got conjunctivitis in one eye at the moment and we just had to wrestle him to get some drops *near* his eye. It didn't even go in properly.
The bizarre thing is is that there's some moments where he's been absolutely fine with it. But trying to replicate that just ends up back at square one. We're trying to give him tasty treats and doing it in stages but at the end of the day he needs to have 2 doses of drops every day, and the progress with treats isn't getting anywhere near there.
So my advice if you have a Dudley, is do pretend drops in his ears and eyes ASAP.

That's very good advice. We've already been advised to start the hair brushing and teeth brushing ASAP to get her used to it.
Got her booked in to the vet first thing on sat for her first vaccine as well.
That sounds quite tough though cubby!
After struggling a fair bit over the past wee while (woe is me posts in the depression thread), I've got to be honest and say this is the first pure excitement - or any emotion - I've felt in what feels like forever. I'm properly fucking looking forward to it. Even thinking about her wee face is cheering me up.

There's plenty of good advice here already, Wunty, and I'm sure there will be more if you want it over the coming weeks/months. A few things my parents did with their puppy last year: - Set aside a toy that she only gets at night, in the hope that she'll come to associate it with bedtime.
- Start out with a crate that's no bigger than she needs, then upgrade to a bigger one. (I think the idea is that if you start out with the biggest size you'll ever need, she may decide that there's enough room for a 'separate' toilet corner, which is to be avoided!)
- Take her out in the car on a fairly regular basis, so she gets used to the noise, motion, and so on. You can do this before she's had her injections and able to socialise, providing she stays in the vehicle, and it'll give you a head start for when you're taking her out properly.
- Do lots of poking and prodding so she gets accustomed to it quickly - looking inside ears and mouth, checking her claws, etc. - and associate a particular word with a given action (e.g. "teeth" when you're looking in her mouth) so she knows what's happening.
I'd add in a few tips from my brother's experience with his own puppy, but they'd mostly involve telling you what *not* to do! He's a lovely little thing (the dog, not my brother), but he's spoiled rotten and very disobedient, to boot.
Most importantly of all, ENJOY YOURSELVES, and HAVE FUN! It'll be an absolute blast, I'm sure.
Keep us posted!

Pubs are great places to take pups as well. Socialise, get attention with loads of noise going on. Get them to rest and settle in a pub you can do it anywhere.

Most important of all. Don't forget to pay the dog tax as soon as possible on Friday!

Yeah he even has a white stripe down the middle of his head. We aren't feeding him after midnight just in case.

He looks awesome.
Ours is a shih-poo, so got half a shih-tzu. Actually technically she’s a shih-poo and bichon as her mum is a shih-poo and her dad is a bichon.

NEW PUPPY DAY
Pick her up after work.
Quite nervous tbh. See the first few nights... She's going to be sleeping in the kitchen. We have an open plan kitchen and living room, and our bedroom is along the hall on the same floor. Read conflicting things. Am I better off sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room for the first couple of nights so I'm near her? Don't really want to do the opposite and have her cage in the bedroom at first before moving it further. Think I'd rather keep her sleeping area in the same place from the beginning.
Also, re: toilet. We have pads, and our garden is out the kitchen door and down a set of outside steps. I'd like to take her out in the garden as much as poss but how do I balance that with the pee/poo pads?
