Rob, if it comes to the worst make sure you get him sedated first. It will cost a bit more but the whole process will be a lot more gentle. I'm so sorry it might have come to this and wish you guys all the best.

He’s heavily sedated anyway as he is living with a broken leg and hip Still waiting to speak with the vet today, apparently they had some emergencies overnight.

Sounds awful. We've house cats that we'd be devastated to lose. That said, I'll be honest, if it cost a few thousand, I'd have to say goodbye as we don't have that.

Yeah it’s tough, we’re lucky that we had some money put away to do some stuff on the house.
I’d love to make him a house cat now, but he’s spent 11 years coming and going as he pleases I don’t think he’d be happy. Hopefully he’d at least be a bit more cautious.
That’s if he can have the surgery.

He’s gone. Just before 6am with my wife there with him. I went and spent some time with him last night and got to say goodbye.
At least he is at peace now.

You have my deepest condolences. It's never easy losing a beloved companion. Take solace in knowing he was loved and thought well of and you did everything you could.

Just to echo what others have said, really - desperately sorry to hear this news.
Thinking of you and your family.

Yeah, just to echo what others have said. Such a horrible thing to go through, but it sounds like it was the right thing for him. Hugs to you and your family.

Really sorry to hear that. It almost brought me to tears reading it to be honest. They become part of the family. I'm glad your cat is no longer in pain, but... And the tears started.
I'm going to check my two are okay.

Thanks for all the messages, they are really appreciated and have helped massively.
Now it’s little things like seeing the cat flap every day, his two boxes of unopened food in the kitchen, the cage arriving today that we bought for after his op.
It’s going to take some time, but we know we had a great time together.
Thanks again

So Dudley's a little short arse who can't see who's making noises outside the house and likes to shout a lot about that fact. My partner has the theory that if he could see out the front window he'd be able to see what's going on and it would eventually calm him down. So we got some little steps for him. It took a few days but now he's up there quite regularly.

Haha, brilliant!
Had to rush my Bernese to the vet yesterday as he ate a piece of chewed up gum I'd stupidly left on the end table which contained xylitol. Vet said it was low risk due to the amount he'd eaten and the size of the dog but the other half didn't want to risk it.
Luckily he brought it up after he had the injection to induce vomiting. Gave me a little chuckle seeing him high from the morphine too.
Dogs - honestly.

Just got back from vet with my cat Lola. She's a 16 year old gal so knocking on a bit. Posted about her back in march when she had first blood pressure attack that caused bleeding in her eye. Last Friday she had the 4th attack and it filled her eye up with blood again. She's been blind since the third attack unfortunately so there's no point trying to save the vision anymore.
She's been on blood pressure medication since it first started and went nearly 4 months without incident so was disheartened it happened again.
Vets taken blood sample to check kidneys and see if BP dosage needs raising. She's been having little accidents around house since weekend which is worrying.
Pets getting old sucks.
